• Support for incremental ExpertView API changes without breaking existing customer implementations in the future.

Does it change anything for me?

• If you occasionally visit ExpertView in your browser, not much. ExpertView will have a new look and feel compared to the older versions.
• If you use iControl, you will be required to download and use the latest version of iControl, which is available in the Squarell Support Portal at https://support.squarell.com/ from Tuesday the 24th of September 2024.

• If you actively use the ExpertView WebService, you will need to implement the new ExpertView REST API, which replaces the current WebService. It is important to us that we can help you in making the transition to the new API as smooth as possible. That is why we have invested in extensive documentation for the ExpertView API. There are little to no changes in the endpoints and data returned by the API, however where the old version returned XML data, the new API will return standardized JSON data instead.

When can we expect to see the new changes?

Because this is such a big change to ExpertView, we have opted to first run a test version of the new and improved ExpertView and its new REST API in the meantime before we actually update the application, which is available on https://expertview.squarell.com.

This website contains a copy of all the latest ExpertView data up to Tuesday the 24th of September 2024. You are encouraged to check out this temporary test version of the new website, similar to the old ExpertView playground, and experiment in it.

Similarly, your implementation against the new ExpertView REST API can be tested freely on https://expertview.squarell.com/api/v1.

On Tuesday the 24th of September 2024 we will definitively migrate the old ExpertView and its WebService to their new versions. From that point on, you will be required to use the latest iControl and have implemented the ExpertView REST API if you want to continue to have access to the latest ExpertView data.

We are confident that these new enhancements will benefit everyone currently using ExpertView and our products, by making the integration of our latest products and new services more convenient. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us a message if you have any questions or feedback.

This solution makes it possible to use different vehicle combinations and to show the axle loads in real time to the driver in the cabin. In Belgium, for example, a permit is granted on the basis of the information shown and not every vehicle or vehicle combination has to be inspected separately. In addition to insight into the axle loads and the route driven, this gives the planner the freedom to use any of the available trailers or trailer combination.

It works like this; both the tractor and trailer have a CAN bus, the system by which all of the electronic devices in that vehicle/trailer communicate with each other. The data from CAN buses of both trailers are combined by the Squarell device into a bluetooth message that is sent to the Prometheus portal. This portal makes this information available on both it’s mobile solution in the vehicle, and on the telematics portal available in the office.

From now on, we support the "Total Charged Energy" parameter on electric vehicles. This is the total charged energy calculated from vehicle data. 

On many vehicles, this parameter is not available on the vehicle CAN Bus. In a large part of these cases Squarell can calculate this parameter, so that it is still supported.

The Squarell FOTA server is temporarily out of service.

Unfortunately it is not possible to update iUpload automatically so this will have to be done manually. We therefore ask all customers to download the latest version of iUpload.

Because we notice that a number of customers get stuck on this, we still want to share some information about this.

The answer sent to the tacho has changed. The tacho asks for a confirmation (PositiveResponse TransferData Technical Data). With the old tachographs, 05 was sent to the tachograph and 05 was answered by the tachograph. With the new tachographs, 05 is sent to the tachograph and 25 is answered by the tachograph (see page 17 of the document in the link). This (TRTP#2/TREP#2) has to be changed in your software.

A new version of iUpload (2.7.7.) is also online.

We have made an adjustment to iUpload so that customers can see which password they are entering. 

If the field is completely empty, the characters become visible until the field loses focus (the field leaves by clicking on something else).

If the field is empty and you click on it, the characters will also be visible. So if you clear the field and then control+c / control+v it should be visible what it says.
