Go to Youtube.com and select the video you want to add to your Squidoo lens

The URL will look like: youtube.com/watch?v=MUBlAqTEwFs
copy the last letters (on a PC: right click and choose copy or right click and click CTRL + C buttons)

Then Log in to your Squidoo account:
Click the tab “My Lenses” then hover your mouse over the lens you want to add the video and click “Edit”.
Shown below:

Click on the “Add Modules” button

You will land on the page with basic modules;

Click on the text “Next”

On the next page click “YouTube vids”

Your module is now added as the last module on your lens, this is by default. If you don’t want to have your video there you have to move the module up.

It is done by clicking the button “Preview Lens Layout”, the page expands and you can drag and drop your modules where ever you want them. Click Save

Next you scroll down to your video module:
Click on Edit

This where you give your module a title (important to change the default text for both your visitors as well as the search engines). Also a subtitle if you like and a description.

Then you click on the tab “Select Your Videos”

and tick “Let me Pick”.

Next: “Enter YouTube Video url”, paste the YouTube url you copied earlier. On a PC either right click and chose paste or click CTRL + V buttons.

Click Save and you are done

The answer is you don’t , you cannot - Squidoo adds Adsense and other ads.

Adsense revenue is calculated like this:
All revenue is dropped in one big pool.
45% is subtracted for Squidoo operations, 5% goes to Squidoo charity.
That leaves 50% in the pool for lensmasters (owners of lenses).
That pool is then divided according to an algoritme.

Now why is that? I just checked my stats for “Searches from Search Engines” and I found several search terms like: “how to add link in my Squidoo profile” and “how do you put a url in a Squidoo guestbook” . So if that is what my visitors want to know - who am I to refuse them?

So without further ado:

How to Add Link to my Squidoo Profile:

Log into your Squidoo Dashboard

In the upper left corner you will see something similar to this screenshot:

Click on “Edit Your Bio”

Next you will land on a page called Personal Info,

Scroll down to Default Photo/Default Bio - to the right click on “Change”

You will notice that a box with HTML codes will appear on the same page:

This is the place for you to add the link as a HTML code like this:

<a href=”http://YOURURL.com“>Your Blog Name</a>

You have to change the text in red.

Then you click on “Save” button - which is found on the right handside.

How do you put a url in a Squidoo guestbook

It is the lensmaster (the owner of the lens) that decides wheater or not you can add an active URL. If the lensmaster has his guestbook set to “Allow HTML” or more correct has not ticked “Strip HTML Codes” then you add an url like the above:

<a href=”http://YOURURL.com“>Your Blog Name</a>

No you cannot know how the setting is for a certain guestbook, you can check the comments for already posted comments for active urls. No matter the setting you will always get a backlink to your Squidoo profile.

I have used SquidHubSearcher, a nice software that allows me to find high ranked lenses (as well as Hubpages) it minutes. It searches Squidoo and Hubpages or just one of them for lenses with guestbooks.

1. I choose the lowest rank lenses I want (PR3)
2. Click Start Gathering URLs
3. Then I check the PR of the URLs that squidhubsearcher has found to me
4. With a click export the links to an Excell spreadsheet (or alike)
5. From the spreadsheet I visit the lenses, rate them, write in the guestbooks.

Here’s a screen shot after I did a search and got the PRs:

I did a search of kitchen knives and here’s the result, now all I have to do is to click Export button and from there visit the lenses.

You might be able to get a direct backlink to your lens, website, blog, squeeze page or sales page, if not you get a backlink to your Squidoo profile which is not bad at all.

At SquidHubSearcher’s website you can watch a video on how to set it up and do a search the proper way.

It has saved me lot of time the past year and wouldn’t like to live without it.

This is a good way to get more incoming links to your lens as well as getting more followers on Twitter, which again should lead to more traffic . Twitter has a PR8 (Google Page Rank) not a bad deal.

… and you don’t even have to look for the module, it is a part of the “Starter Package” (the first you see after you click “Add Module”.

Add your info and remember to change the title of the module, if you like add a subtitle and a description.

Enter the Twitter name you want to use and very important enter (again) just below “Enter a title for this Twitter list, it will be written with a larger font (h2).

Chose how many Twitters you want to appear.

Then click Save and you are done.

Remember you cannot see your Twitters before you have published your lens.

It will look like this:

Yup notice the active link Follow surfsusan makes it easy for your visitors to follow you on Twitter.
