Around 800 vacancies in the administrative sector of the Education

Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that there are around 800 vacancies in the administrative sector of the Education Ministry now. The Ministry will hold a competitive test soon to select the most deserving officers to fill these vacancies.

Nearly 4,000 qualified school heads too would be appointed to remote schools in due course and the qualified school heads have been selected through a competitive test conducted by the Education Ministry, Dr.Premajayantha told the Sunday Observer.

He said more than 750,000 jobless and untrained youngsters who prefer to be employed abroad would be offered vocational skills and foreign language skills in 2023 at a cost of Rs.1,280 million at 23 Government Technical Colleges countrywide.

Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha told Parliament yesterday (20) that measures will be taken by next week to conduct a competitive examination for the absorption of graduates working in other fields including Development Officers into the teaching service.

The Education Minister replying to an oral question by MP Thushara Indunil Amarasena said the group will have the opportunity to enter the teaching profession through a competitive recruitment examination. This decision has been taken as a solution to the existing shortage of teachers.
