I have blogged a lot about how to make
money online in Nigeria but it seems
the main issue people are more
concerned with, especially freelancers
or startups is how they would be able
to receive their money online in Nigeria.
How does one translate his internet or
virtual funds into real or physical
money?
Receiving money online is a good thing
but you should consider a lot of things
such as the fees associated with online
payment and its mode.
Cost and mode of online payment
How much will it cost you to receive
your online funds in Nigeria? If you are
for instance an Adsense publisher, your
income normally is kept for you until
you reach about $100 or until you opt
for payment. Then a cheque will be
sent to your registered home address
and you will be able to cash it in a
Nigerian bank within. So Adsense
payment involves a bit of online and
offline steps. For payments like those, it
may be more costly but if you were
able to earn and get your entire
payment system on the internet, for
instance getting paid via a debit card
designed to accept deposits, it would
be much more cheaper.
The cost of doing bank to bank wires or
Western union can also be high. For
doing bank wires, the two parties
should have bank accounts
denominated in the transacting
currency such as the USD and for
Nigeria you would need a domiciliary
account. The cost for getting it in
Nigeria may be as much as 10% while
for making withdrawals from your dom
account could be fixed at around $20.
For Western union, the sender pays
most of the fees and it can be as much
as $50 while the receiver pays nothing
except for providing the valid
identification.
For this reason, it would e much better
to just receive your funds online using a
Mastercard that allows you to receive
payments. Note that this is only good if
you are making regular income from
the internet since the card has a
monthly charge attached to it.
Other ways you could receive money
online for much lower fees are
Alertpay, 2checkout, Liberty reserve.
You could receive and send money
easily and affordably using any of these
systems. Alertpay allows you to do a lot
of things and when it comes to
receiving money, you can keep the
funds in your account for a long time
until it accumulates and then withdraw
it to Nigeria without necessary using a
bank account by using an Alertpay
exchanger and convert it to western
union. You may as well withdraw to you
domiciliiary bank account from Alertpay
when you choose to.
Receiving money into Mastercard
and withdrawing to an ATM in
Nigeria
One thing most people don't already
know is that Mastercard is already in
full force in Nigeria and you can use it
for a variety of online payment
transactions. Although most of the
cards we receive from Nigerian banks
allow you to withdraw from ATM
machines anywhere in the world, in
their local currency but it hardly allows
you to receive money into it except if
you are funding it through your bank. In
order to be able to add money to a
credit card in Nigeria, you will need to
get the funds to your bank or do a
transfer from a domicilliary account to
that card account. Now how about
being able to have other people from
around the world just send money into
your Mastercard? Well there is a card
that can do just that and this eliminates
the need for a domicilliary bank account
and all the transaction fees mosot of
which I would say are hidden costs that
you were probably not told when
signing up. A card that can do that is
called a Payoneer Mastercard.
Introducing Payoneer Mastercard
A Payoneer Mastercard is a prepaid
Mastercard that works just like a credit
card but it allow you to also receive
money online in Nigeria and withdraw it
from a Mastercard branded ATM.
There is no need for waiting for your
money in the mail or for waiting for
checks to clear. It is much faster to
receive online income with Payoneer.
Here is how it really works if you intend
getting one. If you work for an internet
company that is a Payoneer partner,
you will be able to get a card that
allows them to send you monthly
earnings when you reach your payment
threshold. All you need is to earn about
$50 and you will be able to get the card
at the first instant mailed to your
address in Nigeria. I will write a more
comprehensive report on this later on.
However if for instance, you write
articles or make money from web
publishing for a site like Infolinks, you
can choose to get paid through a
Payoneer card meaning that you no
longer have to wait for the traditional 1
or two months to get a cheque first in
Nigeria, cash it in a bank, pay many
fees before getting your money. With
an Infolinks Payoneer Mastercard for
instance, you will be able to get
credited immediately when they issue
payment and you will be able to
withdraw it from a Mastercard ATM in
Nigeria. No Long thing. Just get paid
Summary
There are several other ways to
receive money online in Nigeria and
while some allow you to store your
money on the internet until you choose
to withdraw it, others allow you to
withdraw it almost immediately. Some
may require a bank account, some may
require just identification at a bank
while only few allow you to withdraw
from an ATM in Nigeria after also
accumulating it over a period of time.
Whichever you choose, you should
consider the costs, convenience and
time frame which are all important for
your business, especially if it is an
internet business.

CONFIGURATION OF YOUR-FREEDOM-SOFTWARE

REQUIREMENT.
1. A USB CABLE
2. A NOKIA PC SUIT
3. A GPRS ENABLED MOBILE PHONE e.g Nokia N series OR 3110C
4. A FREEDOM SOFTWARE
PROCEDURE: The first thing you have to do is to go to www.your-freedom.net to open an account. Opening an account is free.
On the upper right, you will see a link that says “First visit? Click here to register”
After clicking on the link that says Click here to register, a page will come up which you have to fill so that you can open a free account with them.
Once you click on submit, a page will come up that you should check your email to confirm your registration.
So, just go straight to your email and you will see an email from them.
When you open it, you will see a link that you have to click on. Click on it and a page will open showing that you can now log into your account.
You will now have to download the software that Your-freedom.net gives so that you can use it for the connection.
To get the download link, login to your account with the username and password that you used in registering and then click on the link on the upper side that says “downloads”.
Once you click on the link, a page will come up and you will see a table in it. just go to the second row and look for the link under “Download servers” that is titled Mirror (FR). Right click on it and download it.
The server is like 11MB and it will take some time to download.
When you have downloaded it, install it on your computer by right clicking on it, select open and then click on NEXT 6 times and the program will install.
Step1. open the your-freedom software that you have installed on your system by double clicking on the icon on your desktop.click on configure. When you do so, a table will come up. Step2. Under the TAB that says Internet connection, fill in the following details.
Initial server -ems11.your-freedom.de
Port – 443
Protocol – Choose https
then Tick on these:
*Minimum buffer size: 1500
*Initial post size: 10000000
*Minimum post size : 20000
*FTP mode – Choose both
After that, click on proxy settings and enter the following details:
Proxy address: 172.18.254.5
Proxy port : 8080
Proxy type: Choose HTTP/HTTPS
Proxy authentication: Choose ANY or NONE

After that, click on account information and put your username and password there, then click on SAVE and EXIT:
When you do that, it will return you back to the table you were before where you clicked on configure.
On getting there, click on the ports tab and enter the following info:
Check Socks 4/5 and Web proxy.
Under the first port, enter 1080 and in the second port, enter 8080.
Next, click on Messages and change Minimum level to INFO.
When you have done all, click on the STATUS tab and then click on the button that says “Start connection”
NOTE – It won’t connect now because there is no internet connection on your computer yet.

The next thing you have to do is to connect your phone to the internet.
Firstly, get your SIM card configured by calling the ZAIN customer service at 113. That should be after you have gotten your Nokia phone anyway.
The next thing you should do is to download the Nokia PC suite for your phone from the Nokia site at www.nokia.com
The PC suite is like 30+ MB and it will take some time to download.
Once you have downloaded it, install it on the system you want to use for the connection (the one you have already installed your-freedom on)
The installation is easy. Just right click it and open it. Click on all the next you see and it will install.
Once the installation is complete, use the USB cable you bought for your phone to connect your phone to your computer (either laptop or desktop)
The phone will ask you to choose a mode, choose nokia mode and click Ok. By the time you look at the taskbar of your computer, you will see the computer connecting with your phone. That is done, you will see Nokia 3110c connected via USB (If you are using Nokia 3110c)
With that done, now go and open the Nokia PC suite that you installed.
When it opens.
Now, click on the “connect to the internet icon”
You will see another box open where the phone will try to make a connection. As at this time, it can’t get connected because of the settings.
Click on the settings Icon (In form of a spanner) and you will see this next diagram come up where you will choose your type of phone (which is Nokia 3110C in this case)
After selecting the modem, click on next and the next page will come up where you will be asked to select your network provider.
Choose the configure the connection manually option and click on next:
On the next page, you will now enter these settings:
Access point: wap.ng.zain.com
Username : wap
Password : wap
You can now click on finish and click on the connect button.
If you have configured your SIM card, you will see that the PC suite will show you connected.
How To Configure Mozilla Browser
You can now start browsing right now but we will have to configure the browser (Mozilla) mozilla is the best browser you can use for this connection but it won’t browse until you make the necessary configurations.
Download the Mozilla browser on your computer from their website at www.mozilla.com and install it. You can also get it from the people who sell software in case you do not want to download it.
Once you have installed it, you should now open it.
Go to tools and select options on the drop down menu:
After clicking on options, a box will come up. On that dialogue box, select the advanced tab and click on network:
After clicking on network,. You will now click settings in front of “Configure how firefox connects to the internet”
After clicking on settings, you will see another box come up. On that next box, do the following:
a. Choose the option that says “manual Proxy Configuration.
b. Now enter the following in the areas listed like in the picture below;
HTTP Proxy – 127.0.0.1 PORT - 8080
SSL Proxy – 127.0.0.1 PORT - 8080
FTP Proxy - 127.0.0.1 PORT - 8080
SOCKS Host - 127.0.0.1 PORT – 1080
After that, click on OK and that is all for Mozilla.
You can now start browsing with your free zain connection.
To do so, open your-freedom on your computer and select the start connection tab once your phone and the computer is connected.
Then, launch your Mozilla browser and continue your work.

Under options, select all except (Use true SSL with HTTPS). Then go to "Initial POST size" at the right hand corner and type: 10000000, "Minimum POST size": 20000, "FTP mode": both.

Next, click on SETTINGS tab and select "Do not show pop-up windows"

Next, click on SERVER SELECTION tab and select "Don't Care" for all requirements.

Next, click on ACCOUNT INFORMATION tab and type in your Username and Password which i suggest you already have. And under Language select "English(United States).

Next, Click on PROXY SETTINGS.
Proxy Address: 10.199.212.2, proxy Port: 8080, Proxy Username: web, Proxy Passwaord: web, Proxy Type: select "HTTP/HTTPS", Proxy Authentication: select "any or none"

Click on "Save and Exit " tab and then "Exit" tab.

Then restart your connection and there u go...

NOTE: always open your OpenVPN package first before your-freedom package and be patient for it to load. After a few seconds you can clik on the MESSAGE tab to view the response from server.

In case you want to use messengers like Yahoo, MSN or Google messengers, you will have to configure them. To do , simply go and get the required settings at the your-freedom website.
The page you will go is below Click on DOCS and FAQS at the top and click on Instant messaging by the left hand side and you will see the different configuration illustrations for the different messengers.
This is where I rest my case.

Nokia PC Suite software

Nokia offers downloadable software, called Nokia PC Suite, that allows you to synchronize and transfer data between your compatible phone and a compatible PC via a compatible data cable or a wireless connection. It also offers applications for creating, editing, managing, and viewing phone files on your PC and managing your phone modem connections for your PC. PC Suite can furthermore be an excellent tool for moving data from one compatible Nokia phone to another.

Will PC Suite work for me?

The latest version of PC Suite is compatible with almost all new Nokia phone models. Only the simplest Nokia models (from the 1000 or 2000 series) are not supported.

PC Suite runs on Windows 2000 or XP and uses a PC's compatible Bluetooth, infrared, or USB connection to transfer data. In order to use the USB connection, you will need a Nokia data cable compatible with your phone model and the drivers for that cable installed on your PC.

What if I can't use PC Suite?

You can find the correct cable model for your phone from your phone's user guide. The driver is available for free – just select the correct cable model from the Accessories drop-down menu on the Product support main page.

Modem drivers

Modem functionality is included in the latest version of PC Suite, and installing PC Suite is the easiest way to set up modem for your compatible Windows-based PC.

However, if PC Suite is not an option for you, you can still use your phone as a modem for your compatible Windows-based PC.

* If you want to use modem functionality via cable, first download and install the cable driver. Then install the modem driver.
* If you want to use modem functionality via Bluetooth or infrared, download and install the appropriate modem driver for your PC's operating system.
