Bishop Epps to Visit St. Andrews

Sunday, August 22, The Most Rev’d David Epps, Bishop of the Mid-South Diocese, will be making an episcopal visit to St. Andrew’s Church during the morning Eucharistic service. Bishop Epps will serve as both the celebrant and speaker for this service. The purpose of the visit will be to address the pastoral transition taking place at St. Andrew’s and to answer any questions the congregation may have concerning the process. All members of St. Andrews Church are encouraged to be in attendance at this service.

Katie Heads Back to Auburn

Sunday, August 1, St. Andrew’s once again said good-bye to Katie Cuson. Katie returned this week to the University of Auburn to begin her second year. During the Summer, Katie came home to be with family, work, and resume her ministry playing guitar on St. Andrew’s Music Team. Having her home for the Summer has been a great blessing for the Cuson family but also for her St. Andrew’s family. Katie is greatly loved and respected by all. Prior to the end of Sunday’s service the congregation took time to pray for and bless Katie for her return to school. Katie, you will be greatly missed. The Lord be with you.

Join Us for a Special Night of Praise and Worship

Sunday, August 15th starting at 6:00 pm, St. Andrew’s is hosting a night of praise and worship. The purpose of this special service of worship is to call God’s people together to offer of thanksgiving and praise to God as well as to receive Spirit-filled ministry. The Rev’d Canon Paul and Dr. Judy Massey from Church of the Holy Cross in Fayetteville, Georgia will be our special guest speakers for this evening. The service will include worship in song, the ministry of the Word, and a time of prayer and one-on-one ministry. The service will end with Holy Eucharist.

As a special word of encouragement, if you are in need of healing, special prayer, or need to receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, please make plans to attend this service.

Study of Jude Off to a Great Start

This past Sunday St. Andrew’s Adult and Youth Faith Formation classes resumed with a study of the Book of Jude entitled “Jude’s Guide to Religious Phoneys.” The study is being led by one of St. Andrew’s most gifted Bible teacher, Doug Anderson. The class was well attended and participation in the class very lively. “This is the most well attended class that we have run in some time,” observed Father Randall, “It is good to see people hungry for the Word of God.” Faith Formation classes meet each Sunday at 10:00 am and are open to all who want to grow in the Christian Faith.

St. Andrew’s Youth Attend First Night of the BIG FISH Youth Campmeeting

Sunday, July 23, Father Randall Allen delivered the opening message of the BIG FISH Youth Campmeeting held in Woodstock, Georgia. Accompanying him to this event were four of St. Andrew’s Youth: Allie Cusion, Jaymee Wayt, Jonathan Allen, and John Samuel. The youth had a wonderful time at the service and traveling to and from the event. Father Randall commented, “The kids were great. They were very supportive and actively participated in the service. Plus they were just a lot of fun.”

The BIG FISH Youth Campmeeting is an annual event hosted by Pastor Darrin Johnson and the congregation of Hickory Flatt Church of God. Also speaking at the campmeeting is long-time friend of St. Andrew’s Church, Kurt Wheeler of Canton, Georgia.

Jude’s Guide to Religious Phoneys

Sunday, August 1, St. Andrew’s weekly formation classes resume with a study of the Book of Jude entitled Jude’s Guide to Religious Phoneys. Over the next five weeks, the Adult and Youth Formation classes led by Mr. Doug Anderson will examine the Book of Jude to learn how to identify and defend one’s self against religious phoneys who would undermine the message of the Gospel and the unity of God’s people. The content of this course is derived from Dr. Woodrow Kroll’s study by the same name.

Sunday’s Bible study will begin at 10:00 am. The class is open to anyone who would like to participate in this important study.

Faith Formation classes are available for children. The children are studying the Book of Daniel.

Acolyte Training

For the next two Sundays, July 18 and 25, we will be having Acolyte training for all current and new acolytes. All acolytes need to meet in the Nave promptly at 10:00 am. If you would like to be an acolyte but have not signed up, please speak to Dcn. Kerry Wells prior to the start of the first session.
