Ken Jones from the Niagara Railway Museum has found a permanent home for the collection that the volunteers have assembled. The Niagara Railway Museum will be located in Fort Erie at an old CN repair facility.

No parts catalog here, John Vav Zulien built this train from scratch with his metal working tools at home

Chris and Trish are a wonderful young couple that have opened a well thought out cafe that rivals any chain cafe. I had a peanut butter latte and it was excellent. If you are in Niagara Square stop in and say hello.

Who knows who it belongs to but it's been there for a long time. Word is that it was a floating party bar, originally a barge but done up to look like a pirate ship. The Standard did an article on it some years back.

Canal Pathway at Glendale

Here's a shot from along the Welland Canal at Glendale Ave and the Canal Road. There's a walking path which extends out to Lake Ontario. I wasn't in the most creative mood the day I took this and I was having a hard time finding interesting subjects. I settled on this bollard and it was just too boring in colour so I changed it to B&W and increased the contrast to make it look like an older photograph.

Below is an image of a hollow tree stump on the same path.

Hi and welcome to my most recent project! I am returning to photography as a hobby after a long hiatus. Part of the problem of photography for me is what to shoot. Yes as an amateur photographer I can go out every day and shoot a little of everything but I have decided to create a non-commercial project of St. Catharines. In the next year I hope to document through photos and some text, some of this city’s natural beauty, its people, architecture, events, the downtown and businesses. So if you are reading this and think “Gee I’d like to have a picture of my band on the net” or I’d like to post the unique display in my store” drop me a line and I’ll do my best to take and add some pictures to my blog.
I have a special interest in taking pics of public figures and something I’ve also wanted to do is get better at portrait work. Want a free portrait? Just ask.
