Sure he may be the last man standing at Rams Park, but Leonard Little has earned it. I know that Torry "Big Game" Holt was the 'man' on offense, but face it, the Rams had to get younger. Am I mad that Holt is gone, YES. Do I think that the Rams made a mistake in letting him go, YES. But, I can see their reasoning. It's about youth. The Rams have quickly become one of the youngest teams in the NFL. That is good and bad. We in Rams Nation may have to suffer through another tough season. Well, it's got to be better than listening to the bumbling and stumbling...........Scott Linehand. Sorry, I really did already forget his name. Such a boring man. With Steve Spagnulo running things, the last man left is Leonard Little. Some may wonder why? Well let me tell you why. The guy is a cons
Continue reading "Theres Little left from Super Bowl team"

New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg 4 months ago, apparently in more ways than one. With charges pending, the possibility of spending 3 years in jail was a little too much for the Giants. Its hard to let your superbowl hero and number one receiver go, but the Giants just had enough.

"I am an optimist, and I believe most situations can be worked out," Giants general manager Jerry Reese said in announcing the decision. "We hung in there as long as we could in hopes that there could be a resolution to this situation other than the decision we made today to release Plaxico.

"It wasn't to be, so now we have to move on. Like everybody else here, we want nothing but the best for Plaxico, and we are appreciative of the contributions he made to this franchise."

Continue reading "Giants release Plaxico Redskins talking to Leftwich"

This has taken us Rams fans over like Obama and McCain. OK well maybe not that extreme but you know what I mean. There are so many problems with this team sometimes I think the head-coach is the least important. But knowing that is were it all starts, it has become the hot topic.

Jim Haslett took over a team that was lost and tired of playing for Scott Linehan. He promptly won two in a row and had whispers of playoffs abounding. They were good wins over Dallas and Washington. Then it spiraled out of control to the tune of 10 straight loses. Although the Rams were in some of those, others they should not have bothered dressing. But when I learned upon Haslett taking over that he had small things like having bushes trimmed at Rams park done, well that tells me he understands that a culture of losing is a disease and takes strong antibactics and most importantly time. I know all the arguments. His Defense was garbage, and I concede that. He certainly has had some influence on draft picks that have not played to potential. And 10 loses in a row is something that some sports writers could have avoided. But with all that said, who else you going with? Jim Fassel is the biggest name that is going to be courted. No Marty, no Cowher and No Shanahan. Now the rookie head coach arguement is a compelling one. Mike Smith, John Harbaugh and Tony Saprano have the idea very sexy. But for every Payton Manning there is a Ryan Leaf. Can't say I am a big fan of this coin flip. So that leaves us Mr. Haslett. Just ponder this for an instant. Jim Haslett had to lead a team in the most difficult season in the History of the NFL. From San Antonio and the Bayou Bengal to working out of buses. I refer to Katrina and the Saints. I can not think of more credit deserved than not only juggling an NFL team, but wondering if his players houses were safe or maybe there families lives. I am saying just this. Two year deal with a club option to buy out the second year. This will give us the best measuring stick for Haslett and honestly the worst that can happen is another top 5 pick. Take the chance, roll the dice and hope for a Yahtzee. If not, throw the bank at Bill or Marty next year and take Colt McCoy with one of the top 3 picks. After all, the worst thing that can happen is we have to sit through another debate about who to take with the number 2 pick. Not all bad.....

Continue reading "Jim Haslett is the Rams Man"

The 2008 NFL is one of the better ones in my memory. Certainly better than last year, and probably the best since 2001. The stories of bad teams rising to the occasion, a star quarterback coming back to play and another one missing the year, a backup who hasn't started since high school on his way to making millions via free agency, coaches being fired at a record pace, and a couple quarterbacks on their way to 5000 yards passing are just some of the stories to the NFL season. There seems to be another story that could be in the making when the season comes to a close. Currently there are 5 NFL teams with 2 wins or fewer and with just 5 games left in the season there is the possibility that a 5 teams could finish 2-14 or worse. The reason for the futility is a lot of things, bad play, injuries, or just plain bad. Here are the 5 best of the worst in the NFL and what the last part of the season could hold.

Continue reading "Some NFL Teams are Bad Really Bad"

Tomorrow's Rams at 49ers contest isn't exactly a preview of the NFC title game. It's not even a preview of a good game. Both of these teams enter the game at 2-7 and just thinking about the results has me thinking this was actually an XFL game. The playoff successes, the Super Bowls, the excitement of the very next game... all of that is long gone for both of these NFC West Bottom Dwellers. Sure, the Rams-49ers rivalry has been epic in the past but the only thing these teams have in common before tomorrow's game is the fact that they both changed head coaches in-season and that Isaac Bruce has both played for them.

Mike Singletary is 0-2 since taking over for the fired Mike Nolan and the ridiculous ending to last Monday Night's loss vs the Cardinals are still fresh in 49er fans minds. With 2 seconds left they handed the ball off to back up running back Michael Robinson. Robinson was easily stuffed and Arizona walked away with a 4 game lead in the division. Regardless of all the drama following that loss, the blame of the spot, or even Mike Nolan taking a shot at his former team for not knowing where the ball was, the fact remains. With that little amount of time left in a game you give it to your best player, of course which was Frank Gore certainly not Robinson. Never mind that loss as the 49ers are looking to end this 6 game losing streak and improve upon the things they showed last week. In all honesty I believed the 49ers would be crushed, Warner would have over 400 yards passing and Singletary would drop his pants again attempting to distract the Card's tandem of Boldin/Fitzgerald. None of that actually happened (thank god) and the game was much better than first anticipated. Now I'm sure the ratings for the game were considerably low, but still it was a good game. The 49ers have Shaun Hill once again starting as he looks to improve on his quality 2 touchdown performance against a bad Rams D.

Continue reading "49ers vs Rams Preview"

How To Interpret The Rich Rodriguez – University of Michigan Fiasco

After a difficult offseason for former West Virginia University (WVU) football coach Rich Rodriguez, the dust finally appears to have settled.

To summarize the situation, Rodriguez was one year into a lucrative new multi-year contract with WVU. He has brought the program from a good football program that padded its win-loss percentage by playing inferior teams to a team that earned its share of the national spotlight. He knew it, the WVU Board of Trustees know it, and so do the WVU fans.

The other thing the WVU Board of Trustees and the fans know is that replacing Rodriguez will be a near impossibility.

At the end of last season, Michigan officials engaged in illegal contact with Rodriguez about not honoring his contract with WVU and jumping ship to Michigan.

Continue reading "How To Interpret The Rich Rodriguez University of Michigan Fiasco"

Thank god that's over.
Not the Providence College basketball season. That was finished a long time before the Friars' 58-53 loss against West Virginia in the Big East Tournament on Wednesday.
I'm talking about the disappointing tenure of head coach Tim Welsh. If there is a God, and Friar fans, followers of a school founded by Dominican Friars that offers mandatory religion classes, certainly believe there is, the door will hit Welsh in the ass before the weekend is over and he will be fired with one year remaining on his contract.
Welsh's 10 years in Providence have been marked by maddening inconsistency, postseason misery and constant player turnover. Welsh has struggled to keep Providence from falling into irrelevancy against a Big East conference that has gained power by absorbing high-profile programs like Louisville and Marquette from Conference-USA. The resurgence of traditional powers like Georgetown, Villanova and Pittsburgh to go with the new guard schools like Connecticut have made the conference a true eastern beast, and the Friars show little ability to keep up with Welsh at the helm.

Continue reading "Friars fold means end of Welsh"

http://wizbangsports.com/2008/03/former_miami_dolphin_qb_trent.p

This will be his second stint in St. Louis. From Reuters-

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The St Louis Rams bolstered their offense on Monday by signing former player Trent Green as back-up to starting quarterback Marc Bulger.

Green, 37, was with the Miami Dolphins last season but his campaign ended prematurely due to a head injury.

*****

The Rams signed Green to a three-year contract but financial terms were undisclosed.

Green is a 10-year NFL veteran who has spent time with four teams, including the Rams in 1999 and 2000.

He suffered a season-ending knee injury during the 1999 preseason and spent the 2000 campaign as a back-up to starter Kurt Warner.
I wish Green would retire. His play wasn't very good last year, partly because he looked afraid. Worried about another concussion, like had happened in 2006. We all know what happened in 2007 to end Green's year.

Continue reading "Former Miami Dolphin QB Trent Green signs with Rams"

Johnson had any interest in the NBDL. Luckily, I was able to catch Stevie, and he gave
