On Saturday the St Madoc Centre hosted its annual Carol and Craft day for Christmas. It was a great day with over 80 people singing carols, buying crafts and eating mince pies. We had over 15 traders selling a wide range of food and crafts from bird boxes to chili sauces made with Gower grown chilis. Our eldest pig, Nessa, gave birth to 8 incredibly small piglets on the evening of the 5th of November. Our first volunteering day, which was held on the 26th of October went very well, with 17 volunteers of various ages attending. Staff and volunteers alike spent the day helping with various different tasks, including cutting back overgrown clematis in our woods, sanding and painting a fence and preparing the ground for our second poly-tunnel. The St Madoc Centre has been busy building nest boxes the last few weeks. We recieved funding from Keep Wales Tidy and B&Q to create new habitats for wildlife. We have been making bird boxes for birds like blue tits, great tits, sparrows and other small birds. We have also been making a much bigger box for Barn Owls (see picture). We have confirmed the date for our volunteer date will be Wednesday the 26th of October. We hope to get as many people taking part at the St Madoc Centre as we can, people of all ages and levels of skill. There are many different jobs available to help us with: tree planting, woodland clearance, drystone walling, painting, fencing, cleaning, ...and pretty much anything else you fancy doing.
