Vacation Bible School

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL begins Monday from 9 - 11 a.m. through Friday. It's NOT TOO LATE to register the children. Forms are on the table by the church office. There is a signup sheet by the church office to bring some ingredients for the making of snacks. ALL teachers, helpers and volunteers in anyway will be "installed" at whichever service is attended.

Tornado Relief

New Church Custodian & Interim Pastor

Please welcome the new church custodian, Rick Fane. Due to his hard work, this church is looking very nice!

We also have a new Interim Pastor, Pastor Chris Stienstra. She will be here until August.

There are big changes coming to St Paul Lutheran Church! We encourage you to attend worship services.

Farewell to Pastor Janet

As many of you know, Pastor Janet has taken a new job at a church in Ohio, near her family. On March 1st a potluck will be held to honor Pastor Janet Wittenmyer for her service to St Paul and wish her farewell and good luck at her next church. Please bring a dish to pass. There will be a basket at the door if you have any cards and wishes for Pastor Janet as she starts her new life. After Pastor Janet's farewell wishes, Leo Petersen will continue to celebrate all the birthdays for March and April. A cake will be provided. We will be playing games also. We will be recognizing the youngest and oldest members. Because we are trying to go green, please bring your own plates and silverware.

Blessing of the Beasts 2014

Please come join us on Sunday, October 5th between services for a special blessing of animals. Please bring your "beast" on a leash or otherwise confined and Pastor Janet will give them a special blessing. All are welcome to come. Last year there was a horse at the service and the children were able to ride it. We hope to you see all there!

Rally Day/Sunday School Kickoff 2014

followed by food, fellowship and a Ministry Fair in the fellowship hall
for all ages! Crafts for kids/parents and tables featuring our parish/outreach ministries are the special features, plus a surprise or two! Please come and join us! -Sponsored by the Parish Life and Outreach Ministry teams

Vacation Bible School 2014

"Workshop of Wonders: Imagine and Build with God" is the theme for St. Paul's Vacation Bible School June 23 - 27, 2014, 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon. All kids (age 3 by Jan. 2014) - 5th graders are welcome! Helpers (adults and youth) are also needed to make our week a success. Registration information and sign-up sheets for helpers are available on the table by the church office. Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors!

Come and celebrate on Sunday, June 29 at the 10:00 a.m. worship service followed by a picnic and lots of fun.

To all members of St Paul:

On Friday, December 27^th, Pastor Janet fell and fractured her ankle. She had surgery and has been told by her physician that she will need to take 3 months medical leave. She is not home yet, but when she returns home, we would like to send greeting cards. If you have a card you would like to send to Pastor Janet, please drop it off in the church office and Brittany can get it sent to her.

We will keep you informed of any future plans for an interim pastor and Pastor Janet’s progress. If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 815-288-2757. Please keep Pastor Janet in your prayers.

Notes from Buddy Bag Meeting Oct 29

The next meeting will be held on November 12th at 7:00 p.m.
Jane talked about shelving. We need shelving by 1st week of December.
Joyce talked about name being Buddy Bags of Dixon and underneath St Paul Lutheran Church.
Churches identified 4 items that their church would provide.
Talked about Bay Valley and Crest Foods for food donations.
Permission slip was taken to Washington School and will be given out in November
Drop off date for food items will be on 1st and 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:00 p.m. 1st Delivery will be on December 4th.
$500.00 donation from Thrivent Financial and donations from the members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Checks should be made out to Buddy Bags of Dixon with St. Paul Lutheran Church on it (but for now have checks written out to St Paul with Buddy Bags in Memo line)
Discussed the development of a Facebook page.
Discussed procedure for Thanks Yous for donations of either food or money.
Talked about getting a bank account opened.

Trunk or Treat 2013

St Paul will be hosting their annual Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 27th immediately following the 11:00 a.m. Contemporary Service. We will have games, crafts, trick or treating and a hot dog lunch. This event is free and EVERYONE is welcome to join us! If you would like to volunteer to help, please call the church office at 815-288-2757.

Toddlers & 2's Bible School Class

The Church is currently working on a new class aimed towards 2 year olds and toddlers. The class will be ages 2-4 and will meet on Sundays for about an hour. This class will start on Sunday, September 15th at a time to be announced. The teacher of this class is Brittany Moore, and the curriculum includes lots of fun music, stories, coloring pages, and much more! This will be a fun place for Moms and Dads to take their young children to learn about Jesus. Parents are welcome to come help out in class! If you are interested, please call the church at 815-288-2757 between 9:00-2:00 Monday through Friday.

Lasagna Dinner

Just a reminder that the Lasagna Dinner Fundraiser for the victims of the Moore, OK Tornadoes will be this Friday from 4:30-6:30. The church is still in need of baked goods for the bake sale and baskets for the raffles. If you have any donations, please bring them in to the church office. Thank you and God Bless.

Meeting on Service Times for Fall 2013

The Council appreciates your opinions on the services which we have in the fall. Therefore, we invite you to an open forum on Sunday, July 28 at 9:30 AM.. Please give the service your thoughts and prayers and come to the dialog on what is best for the congregation.

The Council will consider your discussion and will make a final decision at the Council meeting on August 8. We hope to have a productive discussion and good attendance.

St Paul, MN Mission Trip

Leadership is a trait that the young people of St. Paul are clearly showing!

SET AND READY TO GO! We are signed up for our mission trip!! From July 21 to 26, our youth and adults are in St. Paul, Minnesota! We are working with local agencies and helping with various projects. Our trekkers are Katie Bell, Zoey Colglazier, Sarah Krug (All Saints, Byron) Ashley Mulkins, Faith Garnhart, Philip Garnhart, Rob Colglazier and Peg Miller. We report to the congregation at the 5:30 service, July 27. If you see us anytime, ask about our adventures. We will be glad to share. We also want to thank the council, St. Paul Ministries and the congregation for your generous and continual support!

Summer Worship Assistants

Rachel Circle Group Dinner

Summer Service Schedule

During the summer months, we only have two weekend services, as opposed to the usual three. We worship on Saturday nights at 5:30 pm and Sunday mornings at 10:45. The Sunday 8:15 worship is currently on hiatus until the end of summer. We welcome everyone to come worship with us at either of those times. The church office is still open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 2 pm.

Lasagne Fundraiser Dinner

The Outreach Mission Team is planning a community outreach activity. We will have a Lasagna Dinner Fundraiser to donate money to the people of Moore, OK on Friday, August 2nd, 2013 in our church fellowship hall. The dinner will be served from 4:30-6:30 pm and the raffles will be available from 6:30-7:30 pm. You do not need to be present to win. Tickets for the dinner are $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Children 3 and under will be free. Raffle tickets available at the event will be $1.00 a piece or 6 for $5.00. You can purchase your tickets in the church office. Hope to see you all there!
