A native Californian, I have been a member of St. Stephen’s since 1986.  I grew up in Santa Clara, married an Air Force officer, traveled the world, and returned to San Jose.  I have had many jobs, but only one of them took advantage of my degree in mathematics – Algebra I teacher in a junior college.  I have 2 grown children and 2 grandsons.

Being the liaison for buildings and grounds is a little outside of my analytical comfort-zone, but I am determined to get a labyrinth installed at St. Stephen’s.  Come and see me if you are interested in working on that project.  You can also inquire if you would like to read or serve at the altar on Sundays.  St. Stephen’s is a wonderful place to spread your wings and grow in the Spirit.

Pentecost Day is this Sunday, May 27^th

The church will be adorned in red. The music will reflect our celebration of this birthday of the church, when God’s Holy Spirit was given not just to the prophets, but to every believer. The St. Stephen’s vestry is sponsoring a festive ‘red themed’ coffee hour. Please wear something red, and don’t miss this fun celebration of Pentecost Day.

Pew Chair Re-upholstery Update  Done: Complete: Mission Accomplished: Fulfilled!!! Through your tremendous participation in this Capital Funding Campaign, we just (today) reached our goal. All chairs and kneelers are funded. There is a small excess which we will apply toward reupholstering the conference table chairs (the mauve ones normally behind the Bell Tables on Sunday).  They are not worn through, but can now be matched to the other chair coverings in the room. The order has been called in to the manufacturer. As soon as they get our deposit check, they will order the fabric and let us know their schedule for installation. I will keep you posted, and we will get to work on an appropriate celebration for the day of installation completion. This will be a landmark event!!

Sierra Service Project:  This year’s Sierra Project Trips take place July 29 through August 4.  The time is fast approaching and there are still slots for high school and middle school youth and counselors.  This is a very important youth activity in which ECR participates and gives our participants an opportunity to experience both service and community building.  Please publicize the trip and encourage sign-ups.  We want to see the slots we have available filled so the maximum number of youth can take advantage of this opportunity!  If you have questions, please contact Leann Brooks of St. Luke’s, Atascadero at leannbrooks@hotmail.com or (805) 550-9832; or you can contact the Diocesan Office.

Pew Chair Re-upholstery Update 

Nancy McGuinness  We are very, very happy that Nancy safely escaped injury in a  single car accident that resulted in major damage to her car. Although the car is in trouble, she was unhurt and no one else was hurt. Nancy is grateful to all who have called her, sent cards, sent flowers, and offered prayers as she was being checked for injuries, and as she gets back into her busy schedule.
