End of Term Assembly

There will be no End of Term Assembly next week as we have recently had the Year 6 Leavers Assembly and all the children are already in their new classes.

Many thanks to all those parents who helped out with the events during Carnival Week.

We very much appreciate the hard work and organisation that goes into this.

PTA news

A big thank you to all those who supported the charity stall on Sunday. The P.T.A. raised in excess of £200, which is to be spent at the school. Also a big thank you to those parents and children that attended the rounder’s tournament on Tuesday, we got through to play the finalists of last year’s game and even managed community cohesion by acquiring players from another school! We would like to make this an annual event and would like to arrange an irregular coaching session after next Easter, details to follow.

Many thanks for all your support this year- your support goes a long way.

School Jumpers

As we are currently phasing in a new school uniform over the next 12 months, we will be selling off our current stock of school jumpers at just £5 each. If you wish to purchase one of these, please see Jo or Pippa in the office.

There will be no newsletter next week. We hope you all have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 2^nd September, when we return to school.

Pupil Reports

Don’t forget to look in your child’s book bag for their report if you are in class 2 or 3. Due to staff sickness, class 1 reports will not be out until Friday 16^th July. Parent’s will then have an opportunity to meet with the class teacher the following Tuesday to discuss any issues. Please note that the reports are in place of Parent’s Evening and parents only need to make an appointment if there is a problem.

2010-11 Academic Year

Please find attached the holiday dates for the new academic year. Please note the 6 INSET days at the bottom of the page.

Hair

Please remember that all long hair needs to be tied back.

School shoes

We have noticed that some children are not wearing the correct school shoes. We appreciate that it is very close to the end of term, but can you still inform us in writing if this is the case.

Music Lessons

If your child would like to take up either Violin, Guitar or brass lessons in September, could you please fill out the form below and return it to the office. Their name will then be added to the list and passed on to the relevant teacher.

Summer Charity Foot Ball

In May 2011 Mr Marshall-Stevens will be cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats in nine days to raise money for Action Medical Research. Action Medical Research are the leading UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children. Please help by coming along to our first fundraising party at Golant Village Hall on Friday 16th July. 7-11pm, there will be games, PIMMS, music and dancing. If you can’t make it, but still wish to sponsor you can do so by visiting http://www.action.org.uk/sponsor/garym.

Transition Mornings

Transitions mornings start next week, please remember that if your child is in class 2 next year, you are invited to come along on Monday 12^th July at 9am to meet with Mrs Winch and discuss yours child’s transition. You are then welcome to stay until break at 10.45am to enjoy activities with your child.

SATS

Congratulations to all of Year 6 who have completed their SATS tests. Year 2 children are the only other pupils that take part in SATS, but in a very unofficial way and do not even know that they are sitting the test. Hopefully we will have the results by the end of June.

Australian Meal

To carry on with our Australian theme, Chartwells have organised an Australian Menu for Thursday 20^th May. Please see the menu attached. If your child would like to join in with the Australian meal, could they please indicate their choice on the menus in the classroom by Wednesday morning.

Ice creams

The PTA will be selling ice creams every Friday after school from 21^st May. The price of these will be 50p, all proceeds will go to the PTA fund.

Sailing

Yr 6 sailing starts on Wednesday 19^th May, if your child is participation in these lessons, could you please insure that payment for these are kept up to date. Many thanks.

Josh.a likes motorbike games

Eden project is so cool lots of people go there and you learn thing while you are having lots of FUN! also st.winnow school takes the pupils to Eden project

Our favourite website is cbbc - we love going there because it is a programme that allows us to play games. We love learning there.

Rugby Union is good ‘cos it’s ‘ruff’,fun and strategic

we l0v3 new look because the clothes are Cool and fashionable!!!

Tabitha, Jenna and Chloe H love shopping in Accessorize,  Monsoon and New Look there is lots of really cool clothes and accessories.

My favourite football team is Bristol City.
