If Alexis Sanchez joins Barcelona, Real Madrid will not win anything next year - Udinese's Giampaolo Pozzo

2011-06-23T22:30:00.000+03:00

The Chile international has been strongly linked with a move away from Udinese after establishing himself as one of the best players in Serie A.

Barcelona and Manchester City have been involved in a tug of war to see which of the two signs the player, whose preference is believed to lie in a move to the Spanish club.

Pozzo has now justified Sanchez's €50 million price-tag with the fact that he believes Barcelona will outshine Real Madrid on every front next year.

"If Barca want him, they will have to pay his fair price, which is €50m. He is the piece missing in Guardiola's puzzle, a player who makes the difference," he was quoted as saying by AS.

"You do not have to see it as an expensive transfer, since I am sure Madrid will not win anything next year if Barca sign him. I am sure this alone is enough to justify and pay his price.

"That is the math they should do, besides thinking they will be signing a rising star just 22 years old who will bring many joys for at least a decade."

The Udinese owner also admitted to receiving an offer from Manchester City for Sanchez, which was financially more attractive than the one tabled by Barcelona.

"The truth is that Manchester City are making an offer which is more generous than that from Barcelona," Pozzo added.

"This is not about going into a fight, but if Cesc is worth €40 million and Neymar and Sergio Aguero €45 million, I say Alexis Sanchez is worth €50 million.

"Since I am the one who puts the price, well, that's what there is."

Barcelona's Pep Guardiola has always been my biggest idol - Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas

Speaking briefly at a promotional event in Jakarta Fabregas, who is continually linked with a return to Catalunya, refused to comment on transfer speculation, but according to Sport, he said of the Barca tactician: "Pep Guardiola has always been my biggest idol on the pitch."

The 24-year-old midfielder also expressed his pride of being part of the successful Spain team that triumphed at Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and briefly discussed his continued passion for the game.

He added: "I feel privileged that I have the chance of playing with some of the best players in the world. Motivation comes from within me. I just love the ball."

Fabregas has made over 200 appearances for Arsenal since making his official debut in October 2003, and Barcelona president Sandro Rosell recently admitted that the club have made enquiries as to a possible return for the playmaker, but added that if the London club demand a fee in excess of €40 million, a deal will not be completed.
