Tickets are $20 General Admission, $10 with student ID.

Also featuring original works by local authors Catherine Durickas and Elizabeth DuPre, Summer Play Festival 2011 continues this season's exploration of faith, religion and spirituality, all the while weaving together the stories of a young girl inspired by a photo of a Hindu Goddess; re-incarnated souls dreaming of past selves; and young intellectuals looking for love amidst faith and mitosis. Full of faith, imagination, wisdom and wit, Summer Play Festival is a celebration of original local work, and a bridge to a new season, "Torn from the Headlines,” an exploration of subjects relevant to Bostonians.

Established in 2004, Boston Actors Theater has firmly established itself as a company for local artists, writers and directors. In 2010 Boston Actors Theater supported 25 local playwrights, 15 local directors and countless local artists. In 2007, Boston Actors Theater also produced a one-act play in the summer festival by Kelly DuMar, What We Save. In 2011, Boston Actors Theater has already produced Soul Fight by local Playwright Catherine O'Neill and will continue its work to strengthen and support Boston's theatre community for this season and beyond.
In this comedic coming of age story, ENVIA!, a spirited, aspiring actor, has just been cast in Her Very Own Show. In a series of hilarious and poignant episodes, ENVIA! exposes the twists and tricks of living her life in the spirit of an artist who hopes it's never too late to have a satisfying childhood. ENVIA! enacts each episode of Her Very Own Show from a stage of surplus reality where it's always possible to have a do-over, exploring what actually happened - and - what she wishes had happened. Prompted by questions she "solicits" from the audience, ENVIA! reenacts pivotal encounters from her childhood and young adulthood, including:

What provokes her to flip her 1st grade teacher the bird

How her mother's infidelity inspires her to become an actor

Winning the Custody Battle during her parent's "untame" divorce

How she comes by her unusual name

The roles she is willing to play in other people's dreams

Creating a Special Ed Plan to solve her learning challenges

Her failure to support herself as an actor in many unsuitable jobs

And many more!

Conjuring humor, improvisation, and theatrical magic, ENVIA! inspires her audience to embrace creativity, spontaneity and imagination as forces for change and growth in their own lives.
