Bordering on Romance

Well this weekend we celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary and the Twins 12th Birthday by going away to Niagara Falls and an indoor water park...it wasn't quite the 'romantic' weekend a wedding anniversary should be especially in Niagara Falls but it was fun and chaotic! There was a lot of other families there seeing as it was the Canadian Family Day holiday weekend...and I never thought it could be that busy in all my life!!! OMG, it was crazy busy but the kids really enjoyed themselves and it was nice to get away.

So here is the card my watercolour class made tonight...we tried something different tonight and used Blender Pens and markers on the image which was stamped in stazon. The colours I used were Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeaide.

I have also used the new Framelit Dies and the new Sweet Shop DSP, plus the Ribbon and Brads (from the Sale-a-bration catalogue) that you can get for free with a $60 order!

Mixed Bunch with Thanks!

Thanks for all of the kind Birthday and Anniversary wishes. Yes Wayne and I celebrate our 22nd wedding Anniversary on Friday February 17th...wow it's seems so long, 22 years! I use to think old people were married that long...LOL...seriously! But I don't feel old...;)

So here's a card we made at the Leadership Make and Take session...it's a great card because it's easy and fun to make! It introduces 2 punches...the scallop punch (and a neat way to use it too) and the NEW Blossom punch, the New Mixed Bunch stamp set, and the New Die Cut Blossoms set which is awesome! I have used those flowers on everything! To make cards, tags, accessories - they are so easy to just pop out and add to anything to finish off a project! This card is also perfect for demonstrating at Parties too!

So we have an extremely busy weekend! Friday night Skyler has a hockey game, Saturday the twins are off to Toronto with their grandparents for their Birthday treat, while we do errands, then family over Saturday night for Birthday cake...Sunday hockey in the morning then off to Niagara Falls for the Indoor Waterpark for 2 days :-0 it's going to be so much fun...the kids are very excited!! I will need a weekend off to recuperate!

Happy Birthday to My Twins!

February 16th is Skyler (my son) and Kendall's (my daughter) 12th Birthday! I can't believe they are 12 already! So I had to make them their cards which was fun getting to be creative and use different accessories...

Here is Kendall's card...her favourite colour is purple so I used Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant with Old Olive in the glitter and ribbon...

Here is Skyler's card...his favourite colour is red (funny my two favourite colours are red and purple - seriously!) and I thought about using my Hockey stamp set on his card but it just didn't fit in...I used Chery Cobbler and Marina Mist with Black on his card...

So what do you think? Which one do you like? I couldn't decide...I am really pleased with both...hope they like them.

This year we decided not to buy them anything (maybe because they have everything!) and instead take them away and do something fun...so we are going to the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark in Niagara Falls, Ontario this weekend. We have been to Great Wolf Lodge several times but never to Fallsview Waterpark...so it will be fun to try something new...is also our wedding Anniversary this Friday so lots to celebrate...

Just a quick post as I was up all night last night and I am dead on my feet...my mother is in the hospital with respiratory failure and I expected the phone to ring anytime last night so I didn't sleep a wink...

Here's my new Travel Mug design using Flirtatious DSP and the Die Cut Blossoms...so much fun, plus I added my personal initial 'L'...I also used my favourite colour..purple! I stamped motivational greetings from the stamp set 'Word Play' to add some fun too!

These Travel mugs are a great project for a Technique class. You can change up the inside design as often as you wish. Remember when I had the Christmas DSP inside? You can find these mugs at any local craft store.

Simply Sent Create and Keep

I finally got to work on this card kit tonight and really enjoyed making the cards up! It's in the New Occasions Mini and comes with it's own card box, dividers, envelopes and 10 cards to decorate with these awesome stickers - also included. I added some ribbon, brads jewels and dimensionals to make the set more complete! The set is a great deal and a wonderful idea to give as a gift either complete or for a friend as a kit who is thinking about starting out in card making, as it is a fun, easy way to make your own cards!

Here are the cards finished by myself...and if you are interested in attending a class to make this kit send me an email at lynda@lyndascards.com. Take it to Heart Leadership Swap

This was one of my favourite Leadership card swaps by Loni Spendlove and it uses the stamp set, Take it to Heart. I love how Loni used the Pleated Satin Ribbon (my new favourite) in this card. The card base is Soft Suede and also uses Blushing Bride and the Beau Chateau DSP. A Great Card!! Thanks Loni!

Well we had our 18th Annual Euchre Tournament last night and it came down to the last game...again...between me and my partner Tony and once again Kevin and his partner Mary Ann and we lost...well thus came in second again...so I can still proudly say I have always finished in the top two every year for 18 years and of course won some money! I attribute my strong Euchre skills to many years of playing at lunch through high school and university. I guess until next year... :)

It was a fun night and a late night and I didn't any stamping accomplished this weekend...ugh!

We have such a busy week too with the 2 hockey games, dance, the twins 12th Birthday on Thursday and our 22 Wedding Anniversary on Friday...

Mixed Bunch

We made some great cards at Leadership's Make and Take session. I definitely wanted to remake them in my classes and parties when I got home! I decided to change up this card a bit though by changing the colours as all the cards we made were made with a Daffodil Delight card base so I changed them...this card uses an Early Espresso card base

...the DSP is the NEW Twitterpated and I've used Rich Razzelberry ink on Very Vanilla card stock. The pink jewel in the centre of the flower is from the Blossom Builders Designer Kit we were also given at Leadership...The Blossom Builders Kits are awesome and I was so glad to see them in person. I have used the die cut flowers several times on other cards to make a flower pop and the jewels too are so fun! A great deal at $12.50 cdn!!

Ok so we woke up to some snow this morning...so to do any errands this morning we will be doing some shovelling, well Wayne will actually get the snow blower out ;).

Tonight is our 18th Annual Euchre tournament with our friends...last year we had over 10 teams playing and I finished in second place by 1 point! So tonight I am out to win!! Yes we do play for $$, not much - last year it was $90 for 1st place and $40 for second place...but enough to want to win ;) so I'll let you know how I do...oh when I say how 'I' do it is because we draw cards for partners so I get partnered up with someone else and not my husband...which is probably good...we were partners one time and that didn't go well...LOL!

Petal Cone Die

When I saw this project at Leadership, I knew I wanted to make this..so we made it at my Technique Club class last night...they also wanted to learn how to make the butterflies out of the new Blossom Punch, so I added one to the front...

I love that it uses the DSP from the Sale-a-bration Catalogue. I plan on making one for each of the girls at work...so I guess I need to get busy this weekend!

We have a busy one ahead of us too...dinner with my parents Friday night, Annual Euchre tournament Saturday night, and Skyler has hockey Sunday, plus I need to fit some stamping in there somewhere!

You're My Type Valentine

Hi again...just finished my Technique Class tonight and I will post a picture of our project tomorrow night or Friday...it turned out great!

Here is one of my favourite swaps from Leadership because it uses 'You're My Type' stamp set as a Valentine's card! It's a clever design and I love how Rosalie Gouchnour created this card incorporating black and white with the glitter red!

Ok I need to take some pictures of my cards and projects and I will post them soon! Having two classes back-to-back the last two nights has been crazy (plus I work full-time) so my time is very limited...I have NO classes next week so I can spend some time creating this weekend, which I need to do, plus next week is Birthday and Anniversary week in our house...the twins turn 12 and it's our 22nd wedding Anniversary...so it worked out well that I have no Club Classes next week!

Adorned Framelits

I have been crazy busy and recovering from my UTI at the same time, thus any down time I have had, I have been sleeping or relaxing, so I have not had time to stamp and I am VERY behind. So tonight I had to prepare for 2 classes in one night...my Card Club and my Techniques Class...crazy I am! Needless to say I did it in 3.5 hours...

So I am posting a swap card because I haven't taken any pictures of the projects or cards I made tonight so here is one of the swaps I got at Leadership. It's made by Marlene Salvato and it's a beautiful card! It uses the Adorned Framelits in several layers, Twitterpated DSP and the new Hearts Embosslits. A lot of work involved in this card! Thanks Marlene for this great swap!

Ok so I will try to post everyday this week. I have lots to share, it's just do I have the time to post? Thanks everyone for your patience!

Valentine Die Cut Cards

I was playing around with our new Die Cut cards the other day and discovered a new technique! I used my Spritzer and a Real Red marker to speckle the card with little red flecks but I felt it needed a bit more so I took out my bottle of pearlized paint mixed with rubbing alcohol and sprayed it lightly over top of the red flecks and suddenly the little red flecks expanded and some turned pick! This must be due to the alcohol...still the pearlized paint glistened making an interesting effect! I placed a piece of Real Red cardstock behind the cut-out piece...and added a few pearls too.

Plus it left the die cut pattern inside too...

I think I will stamp a greeting inside for my Sweetheart...not sure which greeting yet...

I like to put a small card in every customer's bag each month to Thank them for their order. I make sure to include new products on the card to showcase them to my customers. It's a great way to get some of these products in their hands.

I got this month's Thank You card idea from Dawn Griffith's Blog - one of the Blog I frequent often. It uses the stamp set Take it to Heart and the new Mini Heart Embossing folder (probably the product I've used the most so far from the new Mini - but most likely due to the pending Valentines Day)...it's a quick 4 x 4 card and easy to whip up a dozen in no time if you are thinking this might be a good card for your Valentine's card...it would be!!

The greeting is from the With All My Heart stamp set (duh)...LOL! Hope my customers like them, oh and by-the-way, I leave the cards blank so they can use them for themselves to give as they wish...

Blossom Punch

I so excited about using my new Blossom Punch more! I got it a while ago but I just got the coordinating stamp set 'Mixed Bunch' from Leadership. However when I saw this card at Leadership I realized I didn't have to wait after all. I love this card...especially how it uses the negative effect of the paper - the punched out image! I am going to use this card in my next Card Club class because this is a gorgeous card! The DSP used is from the Simply Scrappin' Kit, Spring Fever! It took me a while to figure that one out!

And the wording is from the new stamp set 'Loved Ones'. Great Card that was on display in the Sweet Shop for us to admire again at Leadership Convention!

So I will be working on my 'Stamp and Share Party' cards and 3-D item this weekend so I will post those when complete.

The Stamp and Share is Friday February 3rd at 7pm and open to all to attend! Bring a friend and get a free gift! Hope to see you there!

Hi Everyone! I'm going to make this quick as I am sick again!! Another UTI! Seriously! But they are doing some more tests this time because apparently my bladder is very enlarged (up to my belly button)...and I am very uncomfortable to say the least...so I haven't been on the Blog lately and sleeping lots so sorry to be MIA...anyhow this is the card we did at my Watercolour class the other night. It was a swap card from Leadership - one of the best things about this years Leadership was I got some GREAT swaps and when I saw this card by Valerie Malkus (Lake Luzerne, NY) I knew I was going to case this card...

Lyndsay (my daughter and also demonstrator) made the card beside it - I had a picture of it but I deleted it - sorry Lynds! I love how Valerie incorporated our fabric - Twitterpated into the card! We used Craft ink refills and aqua painters to colour our images...it was fun and I LOVE this card! Thanks Valerie! I just wish I had a blog or website of hers to check out...

Last day in San Antonio and a few special projects from Shelli

We left Saturday afternoon which left Joanne and I some time to explore San Antonio in the morning...so we headed to The Alamo of course...we couldn't leave without a stop there...

on our way we walked by the 'Torch of Friendship'

The "Torch of Friendship" was given to San Antonio by the Mexican Consulate as a sign of friendship and to represent the roots many Texans share with Mexico.

The contemporary steel sculpture was made in Mexico and shipped to San Antonio in six pieces. It stands 65 feet tall and weighs 50 tons.
It was commissioned to commemorate the relationship between the United States and Mexico and the two countries' increasing commercial ties.

Urban monumental sculptor Sebastian was commissioned at the request of the Association of Mexican Entrepreneurs of San Antonio to design the sculpture.

Than onto the Alamo...

Part of what remains of the once large fortress from the early 19th century...the battle was in 1836...history and information on the Alamo can be found here.

Last day of Leadership Conference

Well we almost slept in today...thank goodness I woke up to check the time and noticed the alarm don't go off...probably because someone (hmmm) forgot to set it...thank goodness that someone has a good internal clock...so once we jumped out of bed and quickly got ready we were off to the last day :( of our Leadership Conference...another amazing day of announcements, give-aways and fun!

Our fabulous group that grew by two this year!! We welcomed Linda and Pat to join us! Here we are in the Main Auditorium waiting for final session.

Stampin' Up's CFO (Scorin' Scott Nielson) having some fun as Mr. Rogers and Spencer Willis as Speedy delivery guy!

Apparently the CFO can Salsa too...gee is he available? For my single friends that is...LOL!

After it was all over we headed to Tony Roma's for dinner for some yummy Fillets and white wine, than off to the ATT Centre to catch the San Antonio Spurs Basketball game against the Sacramento Kings...the Spurs lost 88-86...BUT our whole section won FREE Spurs t-shirts...really nice ones too! Pretty cool!

Ok it's 12:45am here and I'm exhausted so off to bed and hopefully up in the morning for some sight seeing before we head home - our flight is in the afternoon so we have a bit of time before we go...

More Fun in San Antonio!!

Oh my gosh what an amazing day again! Yesterday was so much fun, meeting friends, exploring our neighbourhood, shopping, eating, drinking, laughing...I really didn't want it to end...but today it was much more of the same thing, how could you go wrong?

The conference officially kicked off this morning, even though we had some starter activities yesterday...we received lots of amazing gifts (1 NEW stamp set from the Summer Mini, Ribbon, Rhinestones, Pearls, Large Pearls, MDS CD and packs of Sale-a-bration and Spring Mini catalogues. Wow! Plus all the new announcements about the NEW Catalogue format changing (demonstrators, see Stampin' Up for the latest home office post), and the NEW Stampin' Success Magazine format changes...all so exciting!!

But the hardest part of all was the beautiful weather...I wanted to skip the afternoon sessions and go lay by the pool...it was about 80 degrees and sunny today...

and as we walked outside at lunch time, it was so hard to go back inside...

We headed down the Riverwalk again for dinner and tonight all the trees were lit up for Christmas...? Because Extreme Makeover, Home Edition was filming a 2012 Christmas episode near the Riverwalk so all the trees were decorated for Christmas...so pretty!

We went to The Original Mexican Restaurant for dinner on the Riverwalk...it was ok...

Joanne, Heather and Nancy enjoying their drinks...I have become addicted (?) to strawberry Margaritas...oh so yummy!!

We were serenaded my a Mariachi band (for a fee...LOL)...than headed back to our hotel. It was a beautiful walk back as the weather was gorgeous out tonight!! Sandals and a sweater were perfect...and I hear back home it's snowing...gee too bad...;)

Day 2 of our Leadership Trip

Well today we were off to pick up our Leadership bags and than to Make and Takes (or as some people call it (Take and Makes - they make them at home...because too much socializing goes on during this time...LOL)...here are our Leadership 2012 bags...

Lots of neat things inside...A Real Red Marker, a Tempting Turquoise Marker, a Pin, Journal Book, and a nice writing pen. We did some card swapping for a while then off to our Make-and-take session where we were greeted with more gifts! A beautiful book cover for an Ereader or Journal, and some yummy chocolate bark (I didn't eat the chocolate - having a dairy allergy I will save it for my kids)...

Notice the book cover matches the bag...and the fabric??? Hmmm new??? Maybe coming up in the next Mini??? Hint, hint...

Inside book cover - lots of pockets and flaps...also the out side tag was personally signed by Shelli (Stampin' Up! CEO)!

Chocolate treat at every seat...white and chocolate bark in every package! Yummmy!

Off to lunch - Tony Romas - for some ribs (so good) and then to the mall to shop!! I got my Texas Long Horns Hoodie!! So excited about that!!! And some deals at Macy's too!

Joanne and I after lunch - I was stuffed - and still crying from laughing so hard...we had such a good time at lunch with our Leadership friends (see first picture - our group)! We all get along so well and laugh a lot!!

On our walk to 'Happy Hour' and dinner at the Iron Cactus (the rest of my group was off to Manager's Reception, but Joanne and Genevieve decided to walk and have a drink with me before they went to Manager's Reception...for the $3 Margaritas!!! Oh and they were good!! So I stayed and meet-up with several other Stampin' Up! ladies that I have befriended on Facebook...a bunch of us arranged a dinner and we had a blast! Lots of Margaritas were had by all...

Rose-Ellen Eastman, Julie Davidson Ramsay, Blair Gilmore Moch, Lesley Poper, Julie LeBlanc, Christine Richardson, and 2 other new friends joined in (Janet and ? - I am sorry I can't remember names well)...earlier on we had others who joined in too and left for the Manager's Reception...thanks everyone who came out...it was fun and great to meet you all!

I had an amazing day today! Met lots of friends whom I've communicated with over the internet (Facebook, email etc) and it was awesome to meet them in person today - Gwen Mangelson, Dixie Finn, Patty Chenail, Pat Brannin and Pamela in the lobby...this is what makes this whole trip a wonderful experience!! I laughed so much today thanks to 'G' - haven't laughed that hard in a long time and making so many new friendships and sharing many stories...one of the best days ever!!!

We're Here in San Antone!

It was a long day of flying...first to Baltimore with a 2 hour layover than to San Antone (that's what they call it here)...but all flights were all on time, unlike our good friend Genevieve who was flying out of Toronto...hr flight was delayed , rescheduled, rerouted and we think she finally made it here in the middle of the night...all due to heavy fog at the Toronto airport...thank goodness we flew out of Buffalo.

It was 78 degrees when we landed at 5:50pm local time (central time) but it's a bit cooler today...mid 60's. Once we checked in we headed out for a late dinner on the famous 'Riverwalk'...it was a beautiful walk last night...just needed a sweater with a light breeze.

PS. That's the Mall (headed there later today ;) - lots of great stores - Macy's, Gap, Aeropostle, AE, and more!!!! This is also the back of our hotel - dangerous!!!

After our dinner with our amazing Missouri friends who we meet last year at Leadership and have kept in touch with very closely, Heather and Nancy! There are two missing from our group, Genevieve will meet us soon and Lauren unfortunately couldn't make the trip this year :(

So we are off to registration, Make-and-Takes and then shopping this afternoon! I'll be back later as rumour has it Stampin' Up! has picked up the tab on FREE internet in our rooms so I won't have to go to the lobby to blog....
