Yesterday I showed you 2 cards made using only the elements included in the My Digital Studio FREE 30 day Trial. As promised, I wrote a step-by-step tutorial for you. This is just a beginning. You can easily make a variety of cards using the same instructions, but changing colors, paper patterns, stamps, etc. Please leave comments telling me how you liked the tutorial and don't forget to click the Like button. Simple Scrapbook Page using My Digital Studio Express

Have you started your My Digital Studio 30 Day FREE Trial yet? Are you curious what you can do with it? Today's scrapbook page was made using only the digital downloads included in MDS Express. This page comes together quickly and easily.
Here's how:

1) Open My Digital Studio > Photobooks and Individual Pages > 12" x 12" Square > Create Your Own

On the top left side of your MDS screen is the Resource Palette

The icons represent (from left to right): Photos, Embellishments, Stamps, Punches, Photo Layouts, Background Papers. Click the icon you want to access.

2) Resource Palette > Background Papers > Browse. Click the arrow to the left of Designer Series Paper. Click the arrow to the left of Designer Kits and select Sweet Details, click Open.

3) Scroll down to Sweet Details - 7 and double click on it. Your page is now filled with this pattern.

4) Resource Palette > Stamps > Browse > Sweet Details > Open. Double click on any daisy image to have it appear on your page. Move to position desired. Use some daisies full size and reduce the size of others. Change colors if desired. Arrange as desired or use the photo as a reference. You can lighten the color of any stamp by adjusting the Opacity slider.

5) The right side of your MDS screen is the Design Center. Design Center > Photos > Photo Box. Resize as desired. You can drag it into the top left corner and use the rulers as a guide. When it's the size you want, move to desired location. Click Mat, move the slider to 6, change the color to Melon Mambo and click OK.

6) Resource Palette > Photos > select the one you want to use and drag it onto the photo box.

7) If another mat is desired: Resource Palette > Punches > Basics > Open. Double click the 1.25 Square Punch, change the color to Chocolate Chip and resize it to be a little larger than your matted photo. Arrange it to be under the matted photo. (top menu bar: Arrange > Order > Send to Back)

8) Resource Palette > Embellishments > Browse > Grossgrain Ribbon > Open
Scroll down to find Melon Mambo and double click to add it to your page. Add 2 more and move into position.

9) Resource Palette > Punches > Browse > Labels and Tags > Open
Double click on the Modern Label Punch and move into desired position. Change the color to Chocolate Chip. Do a "copy and paste" to create a duplicate of this punch, change the color to So Saffron, reduce it slightly and position it to be layered over the Chocolate Chip label.

10) Design Center > Text > Add Text. Select the font and size desired, then type what you want on your label. Drag this text box onto your layered Modern Label punches.

Your page is finished. If you want to go a little more advanced you can color in the center of any daisy. The easiest one to begin with is the daisy with the round center. Double click to add it to your page and leave it full size.

Resource Palette > Punches > Basics > Open

Double click on the 1.25 Circle Punch to add it to your page. Move it to the center of your daisy and enlarge to cover the round center of the flower. Color Fill > So Saffron.

Click on the daisy > Arrange > Order > Bring to Front

Select both the daisy and the colored circle > Arrange > Group.

You can now move it, resize it or rotate it. If you want another simply select it > Copy > Paste.

The other daisies require an oval punch for the centers. It will have to be resized and rotated into position.

Masculine Valentine's Card

Most Valentine's Day cards lean to the feminine side and I wanted to make a masculine one. I'm happy that I figured a way to make one that uses the new large Paper Doily sizzlit from our Occasions Mini catalog. I hope you like it, too!

Details:

1) Poppy Parade card base
2) 4" x 5-1/4" Soft Suede layer
3) Lucky Limeade Paper Doily die cut
4) 2-3/8" Poppy Parade Scallop Circle punch behind doily.
5) Poppy Parade Small Heart Punch
6) Verse from Candy Conversation stamp inked with Early Espresso.

A card worthy of being called a Valentine but still masculine.

New Blossom Punch and Edgelits dies

I've been playing with the new punch, dies and embossing folders and I predict they're going to be a big hit! By combining the Adorning Accents Edgelits die and the Adorning Accents Embossing Folders, you can create some beautiful combinations and effects!

1) Fold a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece of Lucky Limeade CS in half to form your card base.

2) Cut a 3" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP and die cut one long edge using the Adorning Accents Edgelits die. Adhere onto top portion of card front.

3) Place the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder on your card front aligning it to be slightly below the die cut edge of DSP. You want the Stampin' Up! logo to be on the outside of your card so that your design will be embossed, not debossed. Run through Big Shot.

4) Using Basic Gray ink, stamp "Dream" from the Loving Thoughts stamp set as shown.

5) Using VersaMark ink and ornamental design flower from the Mixed Bunch stamp set, stamp image onto Poppy Parade CS and punch out using the Blossom Punch. Curl petals as shown. (Curl them around a small paint brush handle if you have one.)

6) Use the Blossom Punch to punch another flower from the DSP. Curl petals as shown and adhere over stamped Poppy Parade flower, then adhere onto card as shown.

7) From Poppy Parade CS, punch the largest flower using the Boho Blossoms Punch and a circle using the 3/4" Circle Punch. Adhere to center of punched flower as shown.

8) Cover the 3/4" circle with a thick layer of Dazzling Details. Allow to dry.

9) Cover dried Dazzling Details with a thick layer of Crystal Effects. Allow to dry. Adding the Crystal Effects really adds a great effect - the glitter is even more sparkly!

You could easily make a variety of this card design by simply using different DSP patterns and/or CS colors.

Baroque Motif Christmas!

I wanted to make a card that incorporated a photo of our Christmas tree. This particular card was made using My Digital Studio, but could just as easliy be made using paper, stamps and ink. I'm giving directions for both versions-

My Digital Studio:
1) Pacific Point background
2) Pear Pizzazz layer
3) Baroque Motif florish in Pear Pizzazz at 43% opacity
4) Bells & Boughs verse in Very Vanilla at 72% opacity
5) Add a photo box and drop in your cropped photo.
You can print this as a card, or save as a jpg and send email cards!

Traditional:
1) Fold a half sheet of Pacific Point CS in half to form your card base.
2) Ink the Baroque Motif flourish in Pear Pizzazz ink and stamp onto scrap paper, then -without reinking- stamp onto your card. Repeat.
3) Stamp the Bells & Boughs verse using Very Vanilla ink.
4) Mat your cropped photo using Pear Pizzazz CS and adhere onto card.

Four the Holidays meets Northern Frost Snowflake die!

Don't you just love the way our Silver Glimmer Paper looks against Night of Navy? It is the perfect combination to show off these beautiful snowflakes! Here's a simple Christmas card that looks amazing!

Sadly, the picture doesn't do it justice. The snowflakes are amazingly sparkly and beautiful in real life.

1) Begin with a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Night of Navy card base.
2) Cut a 4-1/4" wide strip of Wisteria Wonder CS and stamp the verse of your choice from the Four The Holidays stamp set using Night of Navy ink. Layer this onto a slightly wider strip of Silver Glimmer Paper and adhere onto card base as shown. I find that the Multipurpose Liquid Glue is a great choice when working with the Glimmer Paper.
3) Cut a 2" wide strip of Silver Glimmer Paper and run through the Big Shot using the Northern Frost Strip Die.
4) Select 3 snowflakes and adhere onto card using tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue and you're done!
