Hero Arts Challenge

I have been enjoying the Hero Arts blog for some time. I like that this company has jumped into the Internet age (blog, Flikr, Twitter, etc.) with a bang. There is so much inspirational stuff that is contained from the crafters they showcase to the links they offer. After a long time lurking, I finally decided to try a challenge with my Christmas Hero Art stamps.

The challenge was to be inspired by a card on the shop site.

This card is probably as close to as a downright CASE as you get (something I haven't done in years!). I just loved the inspiration card and I really like how my version turned out too!

My Idea of Quick and Simple!

I am really loving our weather as of late and, as such, have spent hour upon hour out in my garden. Since I like to keep up with my craftiness, I resorted to a quick and simple card tonight.

Here's my idea of the best way to make a quick and simple card:

1) Find a super piece of DP (such as this slice of heaven...Basic Grey's June Bug).

2) Grab a sentiment stamp of your liking (love this one...did you know Herodotus is the "Father of History"? You can thank me later for this lil' bit of trivia!).

3) Include some plain ribbon (so as to not distract from the DP). For this one I chose organza so as to not cover those flowers!

4) Add some embellies (buttons, brads, eyelets, snaps, blings...maybe some small punched items)...keep those simple too!

5) Voila...you're done. Now wasn't that easy?

Okay, I know I look like a total RAK pig but the real truth is that I have let them accrue for far too long! I don't know why I do this (I do the exact same thing with my correspondence...bad!)...sigh!

A Long Forgotten Stamp!

I made this yesterday using this week's sketch challenge...I didn't have a camera though so it was long in coming!

I haven't used a Bella in forevah! Combined with Basic Grey's Euphoria and that razzleberry ribbon (thanks Shannon!), I really like how it came together! Alrighty...well I hear Ave rumblings in the monitor so I better go check it out!

Yesterday Sucked...Hard.

Let's recap yesterday, shall we?

Kids were gone to their grandparents so I had big plans! Mistake number one since Ave was so crotchety yesterday! She was drooly (but she always is), she was not getting any sleep (happens more often than I like) and she would not eat. I held her most of the day which, with my mommy wrist, meant that my arm was "asleep" most of the day.
Only at 10 PM did she finally have a BM and I thought...ha, problem solved! Mistake number two. Ave was awake the whole night...seriously. She finally went to bed at 9:15 this morning! She would sleep in my arms for catnaps but should I try to put her to bed, or even take her to bed with me, she would start up again (and not just little cries or whimpers...full out screaming!). She continued to have toxic farts so I think she still is having issues.
I had a "disagreement" with DH yesterday which only added to the panoply of fun. I was emotionally bedraggled with no sleep, a cluttered house (I hate that) and a crying baby (when my babies cry, it hits me at the core...dang biological response!). Anyway, as I was pacing the floors with Ave at 5 AM, I heard a huge crash outside. Since I was at Tristan's window, I craned my head down the street to see what happened. Given there was a couple of huge pine trees in my way, I only saw a green sedan back up and speed down the street. I went outside and, three houses down, this guy had taken out a road sign, gone up my neighbours' lawn and then crashed into their Taurus (probably bent the rear axle...the car won't be going anywhere again, I fear). Two of my other neighbours came out (gotta love living in old people central...everybody's up early), and we chatted about the activities. Had to wait an hour for the cruisers to come (night shift came right away but they then left in pursuit) so I could give my statement.
Went to bed at 9:30 but still got up every half-hour until 11:45 when the kids came home. They are so argumentative today...I think I need a Malibu and pineapple juice (yes, I am a girl-drink drunk...sue me.).

LPSDT Challenge

Today's DT challenge is to include kraft, pink and green as your color mix and some punched elements.

Love these colors so it wouldn't be a problem, right? Maybe because I was cleaning my couch (darn kiddies drag everything in from the yard and on to my upholstery...sniff!), organizing craft supplies, talking on the phone, etc., I just couldn't be focused and, as a result, satisfied with what I created.

Anyhoo, I used Old Olive and Cameo Coral (these go so nicely together). Found a scrap of Chatterbox paper which I gave a scalloped edge to with my slit punch. I used my Birds and Flourishes embossing folder to give some texture. The focal stamp from LPS is from the {Butterflies and Blossoms} set which I then dressed up with some primas and bling. I think I am done, right?

...about pens and markers yesterday, I just saw this and laughed. And, of course, I had to share (remember, I have no inner voice!). Repainting your car with a Sharpie...classic. And if you have time to kill, go to the site and look at the other entries for some giggles. And then send the link to your husband...he will think you're cool for finding such as awesome fix-it site!
