Stamping In George

Well, I am back again for another try at this. I have decided I'm not much of a blogger as I don't always like to talk too much about myself. But I do like to play around with my stamps and am also trying to start doing some quilting. Also, things have changed a lot since 2013. I am now an empty nester. And I no longer live in Washington. I have moved to Nampa, Idaho to be closer to my daughter, Anna, and her 4 cute daughters, which also happen to be the cutest granddaughters. And I have another daughter getting married in April, with another thinking about it. Now all I need is for one of my sons to inform me that he has found "The One" and will be getting married this year.

So, that is a summery of what has gone on in my life in the past 2 years. There is more of course, but that can come at a later date if necessary. I have no cards right now, but will be taking pictures of some and posting them hopefully this next week. First, I have to figure out how to get them off my phone and onto the computer. Ah, technology.

I hope everyone has been having a wonderful time stamping and enjoying family and hope to hear from you in the future. Here's to the New Year and a bright future! Have a stampin good time!

It's been a long month.

Well, things are moving along. And right now I'm just going along for the ride. I am pretty tired right now, but hopefully things will pick up and I will get my energy back and get to creating again.

I think we are done with the operations, first off. Trevor had his for getting his tubes out of his ears July 30. I had my "female" operation August 14th, and Carter had his knee operation Sept. 5th. I am not suppose to pick up anything heavy until the end of September and I do fine if I get plenty of sleep and rest in the afternoon. Well, poor Carter's knee was really hurting him Thursday afternoon and he started running a fever so I was worried about him. Most of the rest of the day he was pretty miserable. I had to make sure he got his pain pills every four hours for the first 24 hours. Yep, I was up until midnight and got up at 4:00am to make sure he got them again and also at 8:00. And you all know about nursing someone who can't move around much. And he is downstairs. Well, I'm pooped. And I am glad his brothers are home today so they can help do the running. Yeah!

So everytime I com into my craft room to do something, I just sit and sometimes fall asleep. Can't get excited about much right now. Maybe next week.

I did want to show you some more cards from Convention in July.

This one was so cool because the lady did a neat technique. She glued aluminum foil onto the cardstock, ran it through the big shot in the chevron folder and put the card together. I love that set, Giggle Greeting, and loved what she did with it.

And check out these cards! I'm so excited about the new Label PopnCuts! You need the Card base pop 'n cuts and you put the label piece inside it and get cool cards like these. Well, one is the dress form and the moose is the label one. So they make pop-ups! Neat!

And we now have the magnetic base for the big shot available, plus the NEW Envelope maker. There are so many new things coming out now it makes your head spin! Maybe that's part of why I'm so tired. Hehe.

Well, I'm off to do some pears. A friend gave us a box and I hate to see good things go to waste, so I will be drying them. Not enough to can, but too many to eat. Then next week, pickles. And apples........ Busy, Busy.

I'm so sorry I haven't posted like I said I was going to. Remember I mentioned earlier about life getting in the way....? Well, we just got gut-punched. One of my nephews that I am raising was just informed that his knee injury will need surgery and he won't be able to do any sports at all for the whole school year. That wouldn't be so bad except that it's his senior year, he was top line-man last year for football and looking forward to being a half-back this year because the other kid graduated, he was 4th in state in wrestling last year and hoped to make it to first this year, and was going to place again in track in state. So this is a big disappointment for him. So sorry no posting. We were just trying to get our bearings yesterday.

I do have some more pics of some cards from convention that I liked.

I loved the colors on this one. But I forgot to write them down. I think it is Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist. Maybe Pacific Point. The brown is Baked Brown Sugar and the image is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. The stamp set is "Wetlands" found on pg. 69 of the main catalog. I love that set!

And this one is done in neutrals. Early Expresso, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, and some Soft Suede ink. I love how she did the background and then embossed the butterfly on top, then inked around the butterfly. It was very striking.

Well, life really got in the way. I didn't realize it had been this long since I posted anything to my blog. I have been to convention again and had a great time at the StampinUp! 25th Celebration July 18, 19, and 20th in Salt Lake City. All attendees got an amazing backpack for a bag.

I met two new friends

Met up with some old friends and had dinner at Benihana.

Got to meet Ronald McDonald and have a picture taken with him for my grandkids. (He's TALL!)

And got some pictures of some fabulous cards!

And got to attend some great classes. Everyone there was able to win a prize from the Prize Patrol. I got the Bow Maker Die for the Big Shot! I was wanting one!! Anyway it was a great time. And I have since come home and had one Stamp Class and will have another this next Saturday. August 10th at 10:00am. Should be able to remember that. And in October we will be having our 3rd Annual Stamping Retreat. Oct. 10, 11, and 12. It has been so much fun in the past and am really looking forward to it. Got any great Holiday ideas to make? Taking any and all suggestions!

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone is having a fun and safe Halloween. And for those who participated in the Treasure Hunt Blog Hop we have a winner!! Congratulations to Daniela Capparelli!! She is the lucky winner of the $150 of Free StampinUp merchandise. Thank you also to all those who participated. I hope you had fun looking at all the different blogs and got some great ideas for cards and all. There are a lot of talented ladies out there.
Things have been busy around here and I have been manning the treats for the little trick or treaters. There are some pretty creative kids out there. And speaking of creative, thought you might like to see some cool cards.

This isn't really a card, it is a bag! They ran the front through the bid shot with some versa mark on the raised part of the chevron folder, then sprinkled iridecent ice on it and embossed. Then decorated it with the Googly Ghouls set and the scallop punch and circle punch. The green and black paper is from the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit. Pretty cool.

Isn't this adorable! Love it! All three little monsters are made from the owl punch! And the headstones are made with the extra-large oval punch. The lettering is done with a white marker.

    This one is really neat, but I don't know how they did the background. I will need to look it up. But the stamps are from the Spooky Bingo Bits. The scalloped square is done with the Scallop Squares Duo Bigz die.

Whoops! Got interupted! Had to go get the kids from their party early so this posting is a bit later that expected. Sorry.   Ready to go to bed now! Take care and have a good one!

Stamping Retreat.

On Oct. 11, 12, and 13th our stamp club had a retreat. The lady who's turn it was to be hostess, has a cabin up in the woods, so we went there for the class. We did that last year and had a blast! So I got several ornaments instructions together, plus some techniques and card ideas and we had our fun time away from family and distractions. Of course, I forgot several items, but sometimes half the fun is getting to improvise and seeing what we can come up with, with only the supplies on hand.

On the way up to the cabin, we saw a herd of about 25 mountain goats. It was pretty cool. They were taking a lunch break by the side of the road. On the other side of the road, there were some deer going across a farmers freshly plowed field.

Melanie, our hostess, has a garage/barn with a loft above. That is where we set up our stamping area. As you can see, we have lots of room to be creative. But you have to watch out for the sloping sides. We all bumped our heads at least once! Of course we all laughed!

Here we are in the cabin having dinner on Thursday night. We all take a meal so our hostess doesn't feel too overwealmed. Consequently, we all eat very well. And we always have enough chocolate to fill in between meals!

Deb is showing off her ornament she finished. Everyone said it was worth the time it took to make it.

Here we are busy working. I thought I had gotten pictures of us doing the shaving cream technique, but guess not.

Here Dyanne and Kathy are doing the bubbles technique. They had us in stitches the whole time they were there. The bubbles were fun but everyone loved the shaving cream technique. Deb and Olivia made 12 or more cards using it. Of course, I missed getting a picture. Melanie took some so I will get one from her later.

And when we finished our ornaments, we got to put them on a tree!

We had a lot of fun playing with our stamps and crafting cards. And we are hoping to do it again next year! Thanks again everyone for a fun time. And especially thanks to Melanie for opening up her cabin to us so we could have this special time together!

I will post some pictures of our creations next time.

Christmas Cards

I finished 20 Christmas cards to send off. Just did 3 different designs, but they will give them a good start to choose from.

This card is pretty plain so as to show off the paper. I used the Candlelight Christmas dsp, Gumball Green, and Whisper White cs. The bird is from the For The Birds set. I used the Real Red marker to high-light his scarf, hat, and ornament.

This card was inspired by one I saw on-line. Unfortunately I forgot who it was, so if you happen on my blog, let me know if this is your card and I will give you the credit you deserve, because this is a really pretty card.
It uses the Ornament Keepsakes and More Merry Messages sets. Real Red and Whisper White cs
And Candlelight Christmas dsp. Real Red ink pad and Real Red 1/8" taffeta ribbon

This is my own design. I have a hard time coming up with card deisgns. This uses the Christmas Lodge and More Merry Messages sets, Candlelight Christmas dsp, Very Vanella, Lucky Limeaide, Chocolate Chip, and Primrose Petals cs. I stamped the images with Early Expresso and Lucky Limeaide ink. Don't know if you can see it, but I also used the Real Red marker to put 3 red dots at the end of the leaf sprays. The Primrose Petals cs was punched out with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch and I used the corner rounder on Vanella cs.

I hope you are inspired to try a card or two yourself. Christmas is so fun to design cards for. You can use any color you want, all the bling you want, and embellisments you want and they still com out gorgeous! And who wouldn't want to receive a hand-made card for Christmas? Or any time of the year?

Kid's cards

Sorry I am late posting these cards. I have been busy with preparing for our stamping retreat. Anyway, here are some more cards I got done for my friend's son to take with him when he deploys in about a week.

I made these withthe retired Little Princess set. I used Whisper White, Primrose Petals, Pretty in Pink, Patio Party DSP, Adorning Accents Edgelits. I also water colored the princess with Pink Pirouette and Daffodil Delight markers

This was done with the Dinoroar Set. So fun! I used Summer Smooches dsp, Island Indigo, Real Red, and Whisper White cs. I stamped the dinosaurs and colored them in with various markers. Lucky Limeaide, Cajun Craze, More mustard, Baja breeze, Crumb Cake.

This used the Blast Off set. I used Summer Smooches dsp, Real Red, Whisper White cs. Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake ink pads. Real Red, Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight, Basic Grey markers

This was another basic card we made that I forgot to include last time. Used Comfort Cafe dsp. Very Vanilla, Midnight Muse cs
Blooming with Kindness, Pursuit of happiness and French Foliage sets with Midnight Muse and Soft Suede ink pads

Stamping for a Friend

Hello everyone! How's it going? I have been a bit busy lately with football games, doctor and dentist appointments and stamping. I have a friend whose son will soon deploy to Afganistan and I have been reading about how other demonstrators have been making cards and sending them overseas to our servicemen and women for them to use to send to their families. I wanted to do something for them, too, plus this October 6th is World Cardmaking Day and I wanted to do something special for that also. So I decided to have this week set aside to make cards for my friend's son for him to take with him and use plus share with his fellow servicemen. I also opened it up to my friends if they wanted to help also. So far only two takers on the help, but we got a few cards made. I will be making some more tomorrow and Saturday. And maybe Sunday. My church is having it's semi-annual conference this weekend, so I will be listening to that while I stamp. Anyway, here are the cards we have done so far.

We copied these from a swap I got at the Tacoma Regional. I didn't find a name on the back, so don't know if it came off or they forgot to put one on it. It is a very simple design, but pretty and versatile. It uses the Poppies background stamp, and the Curly Cute set. Incolors 2011-2013 Wisteria Wonder, Cameo Coral, and Pool Party, Whisper White cs, vellum cs, Early Espresso and Soft Suede ink and corresponding incolor ribbons. Cute aren't they.

These three and the next ones are patterned after a demonstration we watched at Regionals. Of course I can't remember the ladys' name, but she had some beautiful cards that went together fast. So I copied the basic design and went from there. My friend who came on Tuesday designed these. We had fun working out different styles and color combinations.

These we added embossing to them. We used the Delicate Designs folder and the new Lacy Brocade folder found in the Holiday Catalog.

They don't want much bling on the cards as the shiny stuff could be tracked by the enemy and not much bulk as that costs money to send in the mail. So we tried to keep them simple but nice. And include Birthday, thinking of you and some simple sayings.
Tomorrow I will work on kids cards and Christmas.

Tacoma Regionals

Boy, i thought that when the kids went back to school, I would have more time to stamp and post. Hahaha! It seems like things have been busier than normal. With 3 playing football ( 7th grade, 8th grade and high school) I am attending two or three games a week, plus getting dental and doctor visits out of the way, and trying to prepare for my new stamping classes and starting up a new business with my daughter, yeah, things are a bit busy. Well, now that I am done whining, ( I know there are some of you out there that are thinking what's with her? I do that all the time!!) I do have several cards to share!

This is one of my swaps I did for Regionals. I used the Harvest Blessings set. I really wanted this set as my father-in-law had a tractor just like this one, and my husband rode on it so it has special memories for me. I used crumb cake for the base, Comfort Cafe DSP for the background; the top banner is Cajin Craze with the saying stamped in Early Expresso and sponged around the piece with Early Expresso. The button is from the neutrals collection with linen thread tied in it. The bottom banner is the Early Expresso Coordination paper run through the Woodgrain folder in the Big Shot. I stamped the tractor in Early expresso onto Vanilla Naturals paper and then tore it out. I used dimensionals to adhere it to the paper.

And we got a great surprise at Regionals! Shellie Gardner was there! So I got to have a picture with her! She is so nice! And tall! Its not just the heels! Yea, I may be a bit short (5'2"), but she is taller than most women. Anyway, it was fun to meet her and talk with her for a bit.

Thought I would put in a few Halloween cards for you to check out. There were a lot with the witches boot from the Bootiful set. They were all so cute! Both of these have the same colors, but the style is so different. One uses the bigshot web folder and some spritzing and the bottom one uses the Halloween Bingo Bits set and the Postage punch. Can't remember where the web stamp is from and I don't have my book handy to look it up. Sorry.

This one uses the Toxic Treats set and the Howlstooth paper set that are in the Holiday catalog. It also uses the Trim Big Shot die for the black ricrac. I thought that was pretty cool. Been wondering how to use that more.

And of course, there were the Christmas cards. Lots of pretty ones. I really liked the one on the left as it used the cocoa cup from the holiday set I can't remember the name of right now. (It's in the Holiday catalog and comes as a bundle with framelits) There is the cup, a gingerbread man, candy cane, and several more items. Really cute. And I love the DSP and how they used the bakers twine and the punch. And the window framelits with the paper-piercing.

Farmer Consumer Awareness Day

For the last 20 years we have had a Saturday set aside to help educate the consumer about Agriculture and where their food comes from and how it is grown and processed and shipped to the market. It has grown and includes different vendors who really don't have anything to do with agriculture, but have things that are interesting to the public. This is where I come in as I had a booth there this year, (actually second year) and I mainly displayed things I did at Convention and some of my swap cards. I gave away almost two boxes of catalogs (not any of the Spanish ones though, sad) and I made several items that I gave away with my business card on them. One was a cute folder that had a Dumdum sucker in it with a heart punched out of DSP on the front and the modern label punch image punched and stamped with "Kindness Matters" from the set Kindness Matters. I got it at convention from Melanie Hendricksen - Virginia Beach, VA It is very cute. And the other one was a magnet calendar I made from the long skinny tag on the Bigz Two Tags Die. Unfortunately, my camera is having issues and I can't download the pictures!! Grrr! So I will have to show you some more pictures of cards from convention. Which isn't a bad thing, but not what I had planned.

This one is special because of the way it was cut. You folded the cs and then ran it through the big shot with the labels collection framelits. It uses the set, Summer Silhouettes. CS looks like Midnight Muse, Marina Mist and Whisper White. DSP is the Polka Dot Parade. And the ribbon is Midnight Muse. Not sure who made it, I didn't get that information. Sorry.

I love white on white cards!!! I did one before and just love the elegant look! This was one of the cards up on the boards at convention. There were about three rows of about 10 boards with 20 or more cards on them! Talk about overload! You had to go down one side, taking pics of the ones you REALLY liked, then stop and do something else for awhile, then come back and go down another side. It was too much to try to do it all in one round! Anyway, they just had the cards, no names or anything.
CS is Whisper White(obviously!) Uses the square lattice, framed tulips, vintage wallpaper, and adorning accents embossing folders.
Punches - Boho Blossoms
Stamp set - Pursuit of Happiness
Accessories - Pearls, Labels Collection framelits, pink and green markers (not sure what colors) Also a flower stamp I can't identify right now.

And I had to add a Halloween card as people are leaning that way right now. Well, it is next month! This was so cute! The headstones are punched with the oval punch, the big one, I think, and the creatures are done with the Owl punch! So Cute! And it's a Pop-Up!

Happy Labor Day!

Well, we have labored today for Labor Day. We worked some outside and did some clean-up, mowed the lawn, had a BBQ and relaxed. Beautiful day. And I canned some pears. I also finally got to go through my last order from the new holiday catalog and put out some of my goodies so as to play with them tomorrow. Can't wait. I have been very busy and also sick for the last several weeks. School has started and I hope things will get better as to some free time to play with my stamps and Big Shot. I do have a couple cards I want to share with you.

It was really hard to pick just two cards I took pictures of at convention. They were all so beautiful! And wonderful ideas! This one was pretty and dainty. Very much for a girl or wedding. It uses some of our new items; the Labels Framelits, Adorning Accents Embossing Folders, and Designer Frames Folders. It also uses the retired Eyelet Border punch. It uses the Bordering on Romance set and the card stock is Whisper White and Blushing Bride,which is also retired.

This next card was so striking. I love how they made the flower from the Blossom Petal Builder punch! And they put a flower on the inside also! It is punched out from Whisper White cs, sponged along the edges with Daffodil Delight and put together with the center made up of pearls.

Gorgeous card!

And there are so many more! I need to go through them to get some ideas for workshops I want to do later.

Convention Swaps

Well, this week has been interesting. We have had several minor accidents, done some school shopping, gone to the fair and had several over-nighters. Also had one car die (transmission gave out), lost a phone, got a new phone and another car. Oh, and football practice started this week. That's why we needed another car fast. Can't be in two places at once. Very helpful to have another driver with 4 growing boys in lots of activities. Consequently I haven't had much time to do any stamping. So will show you several of my swaps I made for convention. ( Was going to anyway) :)

The color isn't very good on this one. It is a lot brighter. I got my inspiration from Michelle Zindorf. I love her work! This card uses the Serene Silhouettes and Trust God sets; Old Olive, Basic Black, and Whisper White CS; Basic Black, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, and Cherry Cobbler ink pads; Scallop Trim Corner punch, Brayer, and Basic Pearls. I also used the 1 1/4 circle punch for the sun spot and a PostIt paper torn in half for the hills. Lots of people liked this card. That made me feel good as there were a lot of ladies that were lots better than me at the Convention. I got to meet some of the ones I follow, but didn't get any pictures. :(

This card was fun and easy. It also used Serene Silhouettes and Blooming with Kindness sets; Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit and Vellum CS; Midnight Muse ink pad; 2 3/8 scallop punch, 2 1/2 and 1 3/4 circle punches; Summer Starfruit ribbon and dimensionals. See? Very easy. I love the Summer Starfruit ribbon! It has a golden look to it and I think it will look great on some Christmas Cards. Got to get going on some.
In fact, StampinUp! has a contest going on for winter cards. Maybe I will try putting one together for it. Hummmmm. This coming week is suppose to be a little calmer than last week. We shall see!

Cards from Stamp Class

We had a fun Stamp class last Wednesday. I showed my ladies some videos of Convention and they loved looking at all my swaps from convention. We did three of them for the class.

This card was one of my swaps, but either the info on the maker fell off or there wasn't any to begin with. So I can't credit whoever made it. It is a Z fold and is a simple card, but very striking, especially in the two colors shown, Island Indigo, and Whisper White. Used the polka dot folder on the small white piece and the Beautiful Wings embosslit

The next one is my take on it. Both cards use the Summer Smooches DSP

This was a fun card made by Kim Vogal. She used Gumball Green, Mellan Mambo, Basic Black and Whisper white CS. You can't tell in the picture, but she ran the Mellan Mambo piece through the big shot with the Chevron folder. I stamped the watermellon in versa mark first and added the colors and stamped. Then added the mellon scented embossing powder and embossed it. Yum!

This card was done by Jean Stayton. It uses Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White CS. Very simple, but nice. The stamp pads were Raspberry Ripple, Lucky Limeaide, Daffodil Delight, and Soft Suede with the Early Expresso bakers twine. And the stamp punch.

Well, that's it for now. I have been working outside all day and am really tired. Trevor and Tanner worked on a wooden igloo all day. It is very interesting looking. Don't have a picture of it right now but will have to get one. Hope everyone has a beautiful Sabbath and thanks for looking. Take care

You would not believe the confusion I have been in all morning. I made a post last night on my blog, noticing that it was different and thinking that blogger must have updated and erased all my info and posts, because it has been so long since I have posted anything. So sad! Well, this morning my brain starts kicking in and I wonder, Now maybe that wasn't the real reason. So I go where I had saved my blog and check in and it kicks me to the "old" blog! The one I had posted on last night! What! I thought I had gotten rid of that one! Hello, anybody at home? So i have spent all morning trying to figure out how to combine the two and still haven't worked it out. But, I did get the post transferred. Yeah! So, I am logged into the correct blog now and everyone can find out what I have been doing all this time and I will try to do better with my posting.

So with all this rambling, I should reward you with a cool picture, or two, of some things I saw at StampinUp! Convention, right? Okay. Here they are. Well, they are posted above. I am still trying to figure out how to do things. Anyway, that corset is made with the fabric StampinUp sells that coordinates with some of the paper and stamps they sell. I was going to show you the doll house one lady made with StampinUp DSP , but I can't find it. There were some pretty awesome projects on display besides cards and scrapbook pages.

the convention center was soo big! This is one of the rooms. Momento Mall where we could get goodies to share with our friends or use for our business.

And we got to make new friends who love stamping as much as we do!

We would stay up half the night finishing our swaps so we could swap the next day.
This is my poor roommate helping me finish my swaps. I had the best roommates! We had never met before convention, but we got along so well and had loads of fun.

this lady had it right! She was able to swap several different cards at the same time! And we could choose which one we wanted! Pretty cool!

I've been busy.

Well, as you can see I have been busy supervising the remodel of my living room. My son has been doing a great job. His dad would be proud. This project has taken over my life for most of April and into May.

This picture is of the finished fireplace and getting ready to tear part of the wall out.

This is looking into the garage. Kyle is building the framework for the shelving on one side of the fireplace. Using a manly tool, the sawzall. Rips through anything.

When we got the other side built, I wanted to put a hidden place in the bottom so as to put a safe for valuables. Tanner thought it looked like a very good hiding spot to sleep in. So I let him for one night.

He is on his knees so you can see how deep it is. About 2 feet.

Well, it is mostly finished. About the middle of April, my daughter, Anna, calls and says that the offer of help remodeling my kitchen was still available as the baby was old enough to travel. So I got busy figuring out what flooring and cabinets I would like and could afford. Meanwhile, Kyle hurried up to finish the living room before we started on the kitchen!

Everyone comes home for Mother's Day. Got to see my grandkids (that will be a later post) and the next day started on the kitchen!

Everyone got to help with the floor. Ripping out the old stuff was interesting.
My kitchen was in the mostly finished living room. The fridge was to the right of the picture and some things were outside. We ate out a lot that week. And Monday morning they also replaced the living room window and kitchen window.

The old cabinets came out on Monday along with the floor. Tuesday was putting in the new floor and painting the kitchen. The original color, when they put it on the wall, was too pink! So we had to repaint early Wednesday morning so the new cabinets could be installed.

Whew! Starting to look like a kitchen again! And could put stuff away out of the living room. But wait! What's this? The cabinet doors aren't the right ones! And the one base cabinet is the wrong size! Good Grief!!!

Finally! After several reorders and several revisions and a new door, and new entryway tile, and new sink, and new molding throughout the upstairs......

We finally have a finished product! It has been an interesting few months, April through June, but the end results are beautiful. The house feels bigger, airier, and nicer to be in. Thanks so much to my kids, Kyle and Anna and her husband, Preston. And to Trevor and Tanner for helping to babysit the girls while we worked.

So I got done with this just in time for school to be out, get three kids to Utah to their sister's for the next 6 weeks and get ready for StampinUp Convention! Next post! Thanks for stoppin by!

FUN! FUN! FUN!

Yea! I got my new goodies today! As a demonstrator, I get to look at the new catalog and can pre-order some of the new stamps and stuff early so as to get some ideas of cards we can make and fun projects to do. If that sounds like fun to you and you would like to make some extra money on the side, then join me and StampinUp! and have fun doing what YOU love!

Been getting things ready for my grandkids coming this weekend. Cleaned out the pond and will get the fountain going soon. Will texture the wall tomorrow and then can start painting!

Here are some cards I made a while back with the in colors that will be retiring at the end of this month. They are very simple, but look nice. The base is whisper white cs 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 folded in half. The DSP strip in the middle is 2" by 5 1/2". It is from the Patterns DSP paper pack (pg 186). I then stamped my chosen design (I used Lovely as A Tree and retired set, Watercolor Trio) with the coordinating color and stamped a greeting below. Then cut it out and used the ticket punch on the corners. Then I would cut the CS of the same color 1/4" larger so as to have a nice frame. On several I used the coordinating ribbon and put it down the middle. Then I adhered the picture to the frame CS and adhered that with dimensionals over the ribbon and DSP strip. TA-DAH! Card all done! Of course, you might want to do something inside. I would ink my image, then stamp it on a scrap piece then stamp it on the inside of the card. I like doing this as it gives some pretty without being too overwhelming, especially with the brighter colors. But maybe you like that look, bold and beautiful! However you finish your card, have fun doing it and send it to someone you love.

Remodeling!

Things have been a bit crazy here. I have been in the middle of a remodel and it is taking forever. (Don't all remodels !) Anyway this is the way my front room fireplace used to look.

Now it has an insert there so I don't smell like I have been smoking a pack of cigeretts , we got rid of the raised hearth and the rock (which I hated) and put 12" tile around the fireplace opening and my son made built-in shelving and deisgned the new mantle. When I saw it finished, I had to try it out! It looks really good. But as you can see, it is not finished yet. We hope to complete it this week as my daughter and her husband (and grandkids!) are coming Saturday for Mother's day and then starting on Monday, we will be tearing up the kitchen! Wheeee! So we need to finish one job before starting another! (Faster, faster, must go faster!!) So between this and track meets and trying to keep up the house, I am not getting much stamping or blogging in. :( Sorry! But, I do have something from a while ago that we did for a stamp camp.

Here it is! It does look a bit faded. This is a CASE from someone else, but I can't remember who. Sorry. It has a whisper white base that had the En Francais background stamp stamped on it in Crumb Cake. Then the Sweet Floral was stamped with versa mark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I sponged Elegant Eggplant over it all on the top 3/4 of the page, then sponged garden green along the bottom and blended them together so there is a nice transition between the flowers and leaves.

Then I took a piece of Always Artichoke 2 5/8 by 2" and ran it through the big shot with the oval Designer Frame. Used the ticket corner punch (Sad that it is retiring!) on the corners. Stamped a greeting and punched it out with the extra-large oval punch. Placed it with dimentionals onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant 2 7/8 by 2 1/4". I then lightly sponged some Champagne Mist shimmer paint over that and also the card front so it has a pretty sparkle to it. Oh, and I lightly sponged the edges of the oval with Elegant Eggplant before gluing it in the frame. I then adhered the greeting onto the card, added some thick gold cording and tied a bow. On the inside I stamped the floral image with perfect plum after first stamping it onto some scrap paper so I would get a very light image. Then I took a 5 by 8 piece of velum, folded it in half, stamped a verse inside and placed it under the gold cord. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the inside. It did look very nice.

Well that is all for now. I need to get some rest so I can start painting tomorrow, and ordering my doors for the lower cupboards...and the glass shelving and doors for the uppers ...and clean out some closets for the yard sale... and..... the list goes on.

Stained Glass Technique

As promised, here is the other card we did at the retreat. If you look close, you can see the glitter in the background. This is done on the clear window sheets with glue, reinkers and dazzling diamonds glitter. The results are awesome! To stamp the image, you need StazOn ink. Here is the link to Mary Directors video of how to make this beautiful card. Hope you enjoy it and will try it out. I would love to see your card when you finish. Just post it here. Happy Apple Blossom time!

   We did the Appleblossom Youth Parade today. It was lovely weather for it, a balmy 65 degrees. Trevor and Tanner marched in it with the Quincy Jr High band.   After that I did shopping for more stuff for the living room remodel and got some plants for my large planters and also several bushes to plant. So I am a bit tired.
   The card I have today is one we did at our October Retreat last fall. Seeing this again makes me want to do another one. They are so pretty! It is one of those "WOW" cards. I got the inspiration from Trish Miles who got it from Desiree Spenst. Theirs are really beautiful as you can see the gold veining a lot better that mine. It does look better in person. Here is the link to Trish's card and she gives directions on how to make it on pg 3 of the comments. Let me warn you that it does need drying overnight. That was why we did it at the retreat. There is another card I will share with you tomorrow that also took a day to complete, but the results were totally worth it. Hope you will try this technique and let me know how you did. Playing with some Retiring Sets

Hello! Well I have been busy in my yard and helping with the remodel in the living room. I also got to do a little stamping. I had created a cute little holder with a sheet of Attic Boutique DSP and had some left over. Thinking I didn't want to waste any of that beautiful paper, I put this together.

Card base is Very Vanilla. Cut a piece of Dafodill Delight 5 1/4 by 4. Then cut a piece of Attic Boutique dsp 5 by 3 3/4 with one of the corners cut off. Stamp the flowers from the Bordering on Romance set with Stazon ink-Black onto a 2 1/2 by 3 piece of Very Vanilla. I colored mine with Pool Party, Dafodill Delight, and Pear Pizzazz ink using a blender pen. Then cut a 2 3/4 by 3 1/4 piece of Pool Party and mount your flowers on it. Using dimentionals, place that piece onto your DSP piece. Using Pool Party seam binding, I wrapped it around the Dafodill Delight piece, then looped a length of the seam binding several times and wrapped a brad aroung it. Then stuck it through a small hole made with a 1/8 hole punch. Then glued that onto the Very Vanilla card base. I hadn't thought of a sentiment to put on yet. But it's coming. The Bordering on Romance stamp set, and Attice Boutique DSP will be retiring April 30. So if you like them, you better order them before the end of this month.

This is part of a set I made a while back with the 2010-202 In Color set that will be retiring on May 31. I used several sets, Watercolor Trio from last years Mini Catalog, Lovely as a Tree and Sincere Salutations which is retiring the end of May.

Basicly, I cut a strip of the Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack (pg. 186) 2 by 5 1/2 and attached it to a Whisper White card base. Then stamped my design and sentiment with the matching color onto a piece of Whisper White cs 2 1/2 by 4. I did adjust the CS to fit the design. Then cut a piece of coordinating CS 1/4 " larger to frame the design. Wrapped a 10 length of matching In-Color ribbon around the DSP and mounted the stamped design with dimentionals over the ribbon. Pretty easy and lovely with everything already matched and coordinated by StampinUp! All you add is your choice of stamps and your creativity! Try one out yourself and send me a picture. I would love to see what you come up with.
