Last year, Stampin' Up! had a Stamp Space Makeover contest at convention. Today, they posted a YouTube video featuring a whirlwind time-lapse of the winner's amazing makeover. I thought you might like to check it out! It's fun to show what you could do with your stampin' space. And they did it very economically. CAS FRIDAY, Dazzling Kindness Matters Scored Card...

Today, I have a very Clean and Simple card for you. I used the Kindness Matters Stamp Set for the card. It is an adorable little set and you will be able to get it for FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration beginning Tuesday, January 24. I love the butterflies in this set, so I decided they should be the feature for this card. After coloring in them in with Markers, I removed some of the color from the center of their wings with a Blender Pen. Then I used Dazzling Details on their wings. So pretty and sparkly! And sooooo simple!

I added a small detail with the Simply Scored Tool. With the card front face down, I scored each side at 1/4" and 1/2" all the way around. One more reason why I love this scoring tool! And beginning March 1, we will have a great new accessory for the Scoring Tool - a Diagonal Scoring Plate that is FABULOUS! Can't wait!

SNEAK PEEK, Dazzling Mocha Doily All-Occasion Card...

This is another of the cards we made at my downline meeting Saturday. It was a VERY CAS card though and I couldn't help myself from changing it up some - okay...a lot. The focal piece is a sneak peek of one of the images in the upcoming Fresh Vintage Stamp Set. It will be one of the products you can get for FREE with every $50 of products purchased. It is only one of many fantastic freebies you can choose from during our Sale-a-Bration promotion beginning Jan. 24! I chose to keep the card monochromatic and just stamped the image in Crumb Cake, but then I used Dazzling Details and Pearls on the flowers to give it some bling.

Under the focal piece is some of our elegant Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper cut with the new Paper Doily Die from the Occasions Mini Catalog. It's too bad it doesn't show much on this project. I will definitely be using it on other projects soon though! Since the Paper Doily is an intricate Sizzlits die, I find it is easiest to cut from Designer Series Paper rather than card stock. After cutting out (be sure to use a shim), gently roll the die cut around a marker. This will help many of the pieces to fall out. Any remaining pieces can be poked out with a paper piercer. This die does require a little more effort than others, but I think it's worth it! After the Paper Doily is finished, I spritzed it with Champagne Shimmer Mist . Here is a closeup, although even on that the shimmer mist doesn't show up very well in the picture.

Before embossing the background piece, I used the Color Spritzer with markers and then spritzed it with Champagne Shimmer Mist for additional texture. I went with a bow instead of a sentiment, so that the card would be suitable for any occasion. Enjoy!

Update: For those having difficulty with cutting the Paper Doily, I just wanted to reiterate some of my earlier points to help you.

PAPER DOILY DIE TIPS:

Use Designer Series Paper rather than cardstock. It is just easier and you will save yourself a lot of frustration. Unless you enjoy that kind of thing. :D
Use a shim as thick as you need for it to work. I use a thin piece of cardboard like the one that comes with our regular dies, but it will depend on your Big Shot. Some may only need a few sheets of computer paper or the plastic shim that comes with the Big Shot.
After cutting, roll the die cut gently around a marker (kind of like a cigar) and many of the pieces will fall out.
Yes, you will probably still have to poke out some of the smaller pieces with a paper piercer, but it will be much less than without these measures.

HUBBY SENDS ME SOARING ANNIVERSARY CARD...

Today is my 30th Wedding Anniversary, so I made this simple card for hubby. It uses a sketch from Splitcoaststamper's Creative Crew Color Focus Challenge. This is a new color combination for me, but I thought it worked well. I also added elements from an old Mojo Monday sketch that coordinates with it as well. Well Worn DSP is one of my go-to papers for masculine cards. And for this card, I chose to use the brand new Send Me Soaring Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. It is such a cute stamp set and I thought the sentiment was perfect for how I feel about my husband, Michael! Check out the picture near the end of the post for other sentiments included with the set.

Since I was trying to keep it closer to the CAS side, I did not watercolor the sky as I usually do. It kind of bothers me a bit now, but I'm trying to do more projects that are easy to duplicate. The kites are stamped and cut out and then popped out on Stampin' Dimensionals although you can't really see that in the picture. Hope you enjoy my little card!

This is one of the Make & Takes we made at my downline meeting yesterday. I finished mine at home so that I could add some vintage touches with embossing, distressing, layers, and pearls to make it my own. I can never leave anything alone...it's a curse!

Today I have the swaps I made for today's downline meeting to share with you. However, none of the other attendees brought swaps this time, so no new ones to show you. :( I'll save these and bring them to next month's meeting. I was assured by some of those there that they will definitely be swapping to get one of my cards next month!

This card uses lots of new products from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I used the new Labels Collection Framelits, Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies and Embossing Folders for the first time. I couldn't decide which way to layer the colors, so I did one half of the swap cards with the Blushing Bride card base, etc., and then reversed all the colors for the other half. While we're on the subject of My Digital Studio, there have been so many great downloads lately and it's been a while since I posted the weekly releases. Four new digital downloads were released today including the You are Loved stamp brush set (from the Holiday Mini), a Hearts Collection Punch Set (based on the Hearts Framelits in the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog), a kit and the adorable My Cute Valentine Printable Designer Template pictured here!

REMEMBER: You don't have to have My Digital Studio to use our digital images. You can download them as .jpgs or .pngs to use in any digital graphics/photo/scrapbooking software (ex. Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, Jasc Paint Shop Pro or Ulead Photo Impact, Microsoft Office programs like Word, Publisher, etc.). The Occasions Mini Catalog will go live on January 4, 2012. There are some absolutely gorgeous new ribbons including a new Pleated Satin Ribbon and new colors of the Bakers Twine and Seam Binding. Each person will receive 35 full yards of ribbon (that's 105 feet!) for a fraction of the cost of buying a roll of each ribbon yourself.

Today I am busy preparing all the last minute details for our Christmas dinner tomorrow and a Fondue Feast tonight for Christmas Eve. All while still dealing with acute bronchitis following almost two weeks of the flu. Ugh!

Every year I give the girls and hubby lots of $5 & $10 gift cards to all their favorite places as part of their stocking stuffers. Here is a close-up of the poinsettia. I pinched each petal of the flower together to give it shape and separated each layer with a Stampin' Dimensional. The centers are pearls colored with a Sharpie marker.

Today I have a cute, inexpensive gift idea to share with you -- a decorated jar candle! I decided to go with a Winter theme rather than a Christmas theme. That way it can be used for a much longer season. I purchased an jar candle and removed the label. Then I created a sleeve for the candle with My Digital Studio. Basically I just added four layers of the stamp in four colors (Going Gray, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy and Marina Mist) and offset each just a bit, so that each color shows as a shadow. Then I printed it out on vellum and adhered it to the jar. Next time, I would probably just adhere the ends of the sleeve to the jar, so that the tape wouldn't show under the sleeve. I added plenty of Jewels for a little bling.

I used the Snow Much Fun Stamp Set for the jar top. I used the same technique with Dazzling Details that I used in my Shimmery Snowman Card. I kept the design flat since it will be opened frequently. Then I added a couple of snowflakes cut with the Northern Frost Die (with Jewels added, of course!) for the hang tag. Hope you enjoy this fun project!

Today I have a cute box to show you! It is perfect for wrapping that special little gift you want to give. It is made with the Mini Milk Carton Die and was presented at Convention this past summer. I love finding different uses for our dies! This box is great because it gives you more room than the Milk Carton itself. A tutorial on the box is at the end of the post.

I kept the design for this one pretty simple with just a Rosette for decoration. I threaded the Baker's Twine through a button and then tied Mini Jingle Bells to ends.

Here is another version. I kept this one fairly simple as well. I embossed the Milk Carton Die Cuts with the Snow Burst Embossing Folder AFTER crisply folding all the score lines. Then I added panels of Frostwood Lodge DSP and an easy tag.

HEXAGON MILK CARTON BOX DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut out 2 Milk Carton Die Cuts.

2. Cut off one end panel (NON-TAB) from each one of the Milk Carton Die Cuts as shown.

3. Use Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score the tops of the unscored tops to match the scored one. Sorry, I forgot to photograph this step.

4. Fold all score lines and use a bone folder to make folds crisp.

5. Apply Sticky Strip to the OUTSIDE/RIGHT SIDE side tab of each Die Cut (shown on left die cut). Apply Sticky Strip to INSIDE/WRONG SIDE of the ends of all three bottom tabs of one die cut and two of the three bottom tabs on the other die cut (as shown in the right die cut pictured).

6. Remove Sticky Strip liner of one side tab and use to adhere one Milk Carton to the underneath of the non-tab end panel of the other.

7. Remove Sticky Strip liner of the other side tab and adhere to the underneath of the other non-tab end panel forming a tube as pictured.

8. To form the bottom, remove the Sticky Strip from the bottom tab that will be OPPOSITE the bottom tab with no Sticky Strip. Fold in the non-Sticky Strip tab first and then fold it's opposite tab down so that they line up as pictured.

9. Remove the Sticky Strip from two opposite bottom tabs and fold one in and then the other, again lining them up with each other as pictured.

10. Remove Sticky Strip from the last pair of bottom tabs and fold one in and then the other being sure to line them up with each other as pictured.

11. Turn over. Pinch together a peak of the top and using the 1/8" side of the Crop-a-Dile, punch a hole about half-way in from the outer edge. Repeat in each peak all the way around.

12. Beginning at your front panel, thread the Baker's Twine through each peak all the way around ending at the same panel you began in.

13. Your top will look like this when done. Tighten and tie a bow or slip on a button like my sample above. Decorate as desired.

What do you do when you totally forgot that you need 12 small gifts for your Bunco group the NEXT night? Luckily, it was the Petite Pocket Die to the rescue! Starbucks had a great sale on their Via Christmas Blend coffee packets on Thursday, so I bought a couple of boxes and decided to design a holder for them.

Since some of our members are Jewish, etc., I wanted to stay holiday neutral. I knew I wanted to use snowmen and the Snow Much Fun stamp set is one of my favorites! I did some of the coffee holders in a blue version as well, but I forgot to photograph them before bringing them to my Bunco Friday night. Oops!

I used the same coloring method with the Dazzling Diamonds that I did with my Shimmery Snowman Buddies card. To add a little more bling, I even added some Dazzling Diamonds on the edge. But there still wasn't enough bling! So I cut two more flaps from Silver Glimmer Paper for the inside and outside of the flap. Here is a shot of the back, so you can see it. I opted to use a half velcro dot for the closure.

FANCY FOLD FRIDAY, Come Let Us Adore Him Joy Fold Card...

For today's Christmas card, I wanted to use a religious theme, so I used the Come to Bethlehem stamp set on the front and The Sounding Joy set inside. And Concord Crush and Brushed Gold seemed like the perfect "royal" combo for the theme.

The Joy Fold card is one of the simplest Fancy Folds and one of my favorites. It is basically a mini card folded inside a larger card. The larger piece is cut to 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" and scored at 5-1/2". The mini card is cut to 3" x 8" and scored at 4". You simply adhere the back of your mini card to the back inside of the larger card as shown in the inside picture above.

I used Shimmer Mist on the Mini Card and let it dry before embossing it. I have posted the recipe for the Shimmer Mist before, but have included it again at the end of the post. I embossed the back wall of the main card and the gold layer with the Snow Burst Embossing Folder. Yes, I know it has been my go-to embossing folder for Christmas cards this year, but it's a new toy... and it's so pretty! :)

The inside star image is stamped in Concord Crush, but I stamped off once before stamping it on the card. Then just emboss all your other images with VersaMark and Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder. Oh, and I needed a little more bling, of course, so I added a Rhinestone Jewel to the star. Who couldn't use more bling?

Here is an alternate version I made when I was trying to decide between making it in silver or gold. Which one do you like better?

SHIMMER MIST RECIPE:

Take a Mini-Mister (sold in packs of three at craft stores). Remove spray head and straw of mini mister and set aside.
Fill the Mini Mister with 70% rubbing alcohol to 1/4” below the screw-threads of the bottle.
SHAKE Shimmer Paint vigorously until it is WELL mixed.
Carefully remove the lid of the shimmer paint and pour a bit of it into the mini mister. Not too much, I would say about 1/8 tsp. If you desire more shimmer, you can always add more.
Insert spray nozzle into the Mini Mister, make sure it is on tightly with the cap.
Replace lid on shimmer paint, and set aside
Shake the filled mini mister vigorously to ensure it is well mixed.
Place your cardstock in a Color Catcher and spray with the mist.
The paper will curl up, but will relax and flatten when dry. It if is still warped, just put it under a heavy book for a while.
Store the mini mister in a vertical position.
The paint will settle/separate from the rubbing alcohol after a while, so be sure to shake well before using again.
