1950 - The 50th Anniversary of Forestry Service

In June 1862 pursuant to a Spanish Royal Decree, was created the first forestry service in the Philippines, the "Inspeccion General de Montes". On April 14, 1900, the U.S. military governor in the Philippines is the General Order No. 50, renamed him into the Bureau of Forestry.

The Bureau of Posts issued a set of two stamps commemorating the Bureau of Forestry on its 50th anniversary, April 14, 1950. Featured on the stamps is an engraving of the native Red Lauan tree, a valuable export timber.

The series of the Centenary of Italian Railways is a series of stamps of the Kingdom of Italy issued December 15, 1939 to celebrate the hundred years since the inauguration of the first Italian railway Naples-Portici, which unfolded on the Tyrrhenian coast at the foot of Vesuvius.

The Naples-Portici railway was the first railway line built in Italian territory, in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, it was double-track and had a length of just over seven kilometers (7.25 km) and was inaugurated on 3 October 1839 with great solemnity

The stamps of the series, printed in rotogravure in sheets of 60 (x4), have as their subject the steam locomotive of the first Italian train (operating on the Naples-Portici line) and a more modern electric train.

This event was divided into team competitions with the participation of over 4,000 gymnasts, military competitions, tournaments of nations and Olympic representations.

More than 25 nations participated in the event including Japan, Russia and U.S.A.

Leopold George Christian Frederick of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was a member of the House of Wettin; he had the titles of: Prince of Saxe-Coburg, Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

It was the first king of the Belgians, reigning from 26 June 1831 to 10 December 1865. It was the maternal uncle of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom of which he was director and which the British sovereign was always very close and paternal uncle of the same grade also her husband Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha as his father's brother.

The youngest son of Francis Frederick, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, still a child, he moved to Russia under the protection of the paternal aunt, wife of the brother of Tsar Alexander I. Leopold refused the rank of assistant offered to him by the Emperor of the French, to join the Russia of Alexander I, the Tsar with participating in the battles against the troops of Bonaparte.

After the Greek War of Independence (1821-32), Leopold was offered the position of King of Greece but turned it down, believing it to be too precarious. Instead, Leopold accepted the kingship of the newly-established Kingdom of Belgium in 1831. The Belgian government offered the position to Leopold because of his diplomatic connections with royal houses across Europe. In additions, because he was seen as a british-backed candidates, he was not affiliated to other powers, such as France, which were believed to have territorial ambitions in Belgium which might threaten the European balance of power created by the 1815 congress of Vienna .

The Winterhilfswerk des Deutschen Volkes (Winter Relief of the German people) was an annual drive by the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (National Socialist People’s Welfare Organization) to help finance charitable work. Its slogan was "None shall starve or freeze". The drive was originally set up under the government of Heinrich Brüning in 1931, though Hitler would later claim sole credit. It ran from 1933–1945 during the months of October through March, and was designed to provide food, clothing, coal, and other items to less fortunate Germans during the inclement months.

In 1861-99, Samoa was an independent kingdom under the influence of the US, to which the harbor of Pago Pago had been ceded, and that of Great Britain and Germany. In 1898 a disturbance arose, resulting in the withdrawal of Great Britain, and the partitioning of the islands between Germany and the US. Early in World War I the islands under German domination were occupied by New Zealand troops and in 1920 the League of Nations declared them a mandate to New Zealand. Western Samoa became independent in 1962.

Al-Marhum Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Maulana Paduka Seri Begawan Al-Hajj Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien III (Brunei Town, 23 september 1914 – Bandar Seri Begawan, 7 september 1986) was installed as the 28th sultan of Brunei on June 14, 1950, crowned on May 31, 1951..

He was the seventh child of Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam 2 and the second surviving son with his elderly brother who would later become Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin. On the death of his brother, leaving no male heirs on 4 June 1950, he was proclaimed as the next Sultan.

In the early era of his rule, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien focused on raising Brunei's standard of living. His top priority was providing adequate education. Several primary and secondary schools were built throughout the nation to ensure that all citizens could attend formal schooling. A free-food scheme was introduced in rural schools and students with distinction results were sent abroad for higher education.

In 1952 Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien worked for the implementation of the Brunei written constitution as the foundation of governance and the achievement ofindependence from Britain. Discussions with theBritish government culminated in the signing of the Brunei written constitution and the Brunei Agreement on 29 September 1959.

After ruling for 17 years, on 4 October 1967, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien abdicated in favour of his eldest son, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, but he has continued to play an important role as a mentor to his son, as the first Brunei Defence Minister until his death on 7 September 1986.

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien's reign was marked by so much progress that he is known as the "Architect of Modern Brunei". In recognition of his contributions, on October 1970, His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, had consented to rename Brunei Town, Brunei's capital to Bandar Seri Begawan, after his father's title, further several institutions and places in Brunei were named after him: the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque; Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College; the Seri Begawan Religious Teaching College; the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Institute of Islamic studies of Universiti Brunei Darussalam; the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College; and the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital

Navigation and Commerce

Obock is a city of the African state of Djibouti, the capital of the region and of the district in the north-east of the country.

The city is located on the north shore of the Gulf of Tadjoura where it opens on the Gulf of Aden, and is served by a local use airport and a ferry that connects the capital of Djibouti on the south shore of the Gulf.

The March 11, 1869 Obock became the site of the first French colony in the region, which later became "French Coast of the Somalis" or French Somaliland.
Administrative center of the French possession, after the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, Obock became home to a gas station for ships traveling along the Red Sea. But, because the anchorage was too exposed to the winds, in 1896 the main port of the colony Djibouti became the town further south, elected new colonial capital.
Even after independence Obock remained one of the main centers of the northern part of Djibouti with the city of Tadjoura. With 21,200 inhabitants, in 2012 it appeared the fifth most populous city in the state.

This is the first real set of stamps Republicans (ie issued after the end of the monarchy), and could be defined, simultaneously, both celebrative, that commemorative.

Celebrative because it was issued in the same year in which the event occurred, just to remember the proclamation of the republic.

Commemorative because, in the realization of the stamps, were chosen subjects related to the most famous maritime republics of Italian history.

The series consists of eight values: from Lire 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20.

The stamps were issued October 31, 1946 and remained in progress up to December 31, 1947.

They have thus remained in progress for a 427-day period, in which, due to a very high rate of inflation, there were two tariff changes for the inside and one for the foreigner.

Hawaii 1875 King David Kalakaua

Kalakaua, born as David La'amea Kamanakapu'u Mahinulani Nalaiaehuokalani Lumialani Kalakaua and also known as David Kalakaua, or with the nickname King happy (Honolulu, November 16, 1836 - San Francisco, January 20, 1891), was King of Hawaii from 1874 to 1891.

Proclaimed king after the death of the previous monarch Lunalilo in the absence of heirs, in this circumstance as previously happened the national parliament declared the election to occupy the throne remained vacant, Kalakaua won the elections and took office as the new king of Hawaii.

During his reign, Kalakaua implemented a conservative and nationalist politics, trying to limit as much as possible the interference of big foreign traders opting members of Indigenous Peoples within the government of the kingdom.

In 1887 he was forced to grant a constitution, giving a good part of its power and transforming the country into a constitutional monarchy. During his reign he was brought back to its original splendor hula (Hawaiian dance) after it was banned in 1830 by the Queen Ka'ahumanu after his conversion to Christianity. He is also known for promoting surfing and the Hawaiian martial art, Kapu Kuialua.

Edward Rydz-Śmigły

(Berezhany, March 11, 1886 - Warsaw, December 2, 1941) was a political, military, painter and poet Polish.

After many successes as a military commander during the Polish-Soviet War, Edward Rydz-Śmigły succeeded Józef Piłsudski as Marshal of Poland (11 November 1936) and Commander in Chief of the Polish Armed Forces (since 1939).

In this capacity he faced the invasion of Poland in 1939 by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, the first European stage of World War II; given the large Polish army inferiority in the face of enemies, to avoid capture Rydz-Śmigły had to flee abroad with Ignacy Mościcki and other members of the government. He stayed for a time in Romania, where he was also arrested.

In the fall of 1941 he returned incognito to Poland to fight the Germans, but died shortly after in Warsaw because of a heart attack.

Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe, inhabited since 32,000 BC. In Middle Ages, it was an important center of the East Slavic culture, with the powerful state of Kievan Rus' that form the basis of Ukrainian identity. Later the territory was disputed, divided and Governed by a variety of powers, including Lithuania, Poland, the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary and Russia. A Cossack republic prospered during the 17th and 18th century, but its territory was eventually divided between Poland and the Russian Empire, and then completely submerged in Russia. Two brief periods of independence occurred, once near the end of World War I and another during World War II, but both occasions would ultimately see Ukraine's territories conquered and consolidated into a Soviet republic until 1991, when Ukraine Gained independence from Soviet Union.
