Gnome for the Holidays Meet Stampin' Up Self-Adhesive Sheets

As soon as I saw these adorable little gnomes in the Stampin' Up August-December Mini Catalog, I knew I had to own them. And I've been playing with this set ever since, really.

In fact, I designed my October Stamp Club Class around it because I loved it so much. (Registration for that class is open for just one more day!).

But, it is so much more than Christmas... I paired it with a sentiment from the Dino Days stamp set, and we have a super fun and festive Valentine's Day card (I know, I know -- I'm super early -- but this is really the only time you can say that about me!).

But what I want you to pay close attention to on this card is actually the detailed heart dies that are in the background.

That die is amazing, and adds such pizzazz to a card, but if you've ever fussed with trying to glue a detailed die-cut down using liquid adhesive, you know that it can be a real challenge. Enter in the Stampin' Up Self-Adhesive sheets! I'm sharing a video on this below -- but let me just tell you these little beauties are a GAME. CHANGER. for your detailed dies.

Essentially, you apply the sticker sheet to your cardstock before you run it through your die-cutting machine, and then when you're finished, the die-cut becomes a giant sticker where you can basically peel off the back and attach to your project.

Confession Time: Hidden Secrets of an Infrequent Scrapbooker

I love to scrapbook, but you wouldn't know it from looking at this mess. If I'm honest, I think the reason why I haven't scrapbooked my own photos in ages, is because I'm overwhelmed. Do you ever feel that way?

But I'm committed to fixing this process for myself, and I have a feeling that you may be struggling with this issue, too. Whether it is physical photos like mine, or perhaps a web of digital pictures that could span the earth - or both - I'm determined to develop a process for tackling my photo storage so that I can find photos when I need/want them, and keep track of the ones I want to scrap.

So I'd love to know, if you like to scrapbook, what are YOUR struggles around scrapbooking? Why don't you do it more often? What would make it easier for you? What do you enjoy about scrapbooking? Why do you think it is important?

As I work through this struggle myself, I'd like to think about ways I can streamline the process and potentially help you, too!

Three Crafty Ways to Say "Thanks"

Let me first start this post by saying "thanks" to you for showing up here on this sad, neglected blog. It has been a long time since I have visited, even though I've been thinking about revamping it for well over a year!

Anyway, I thought I'd share a few "crafty" ways to say thanks to those people in your life that always seem to go above and beyond.

Idea #1 is Treat Them to some Coffee. Of course, you'll want to present it in a fun way. Check out THIS By the Shore Stamping YouTube tutorial for a really fun (and easy!) gift card holder featuring the Merry Moose bundle (which is still available!). You could pair it with the Plaid Tidings Designer series paper for a very similar look.

Another great way to say "thanks" is a little treat box filled with goodies:

The Bucket List of Summer Photos For Scrapbookers

When the weather starts to get warmer and the days get longer, I don't really spend as much time in my craft room creating. Can you relate? But summer is my very favorite season and I love to document in -- particularly when I'm up to my eyeballs in snow say, mid-February! But in order to do that, I need to make sure I've planned ahead and have summer photos at the ready.

I am not a chronological scrapbooker, so I like to think about the quintessential photos that tell the story of summer without being a 100th page on a family cookout or another summer birthday layout -- not that there is anything wrong with those things -- I just like to find the "bigger picture" in the smaller moments.

So here are my suggestions for the top five "must have" summer photos for scrappin' next winter (how dare I write that word right now!):

1. I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream. One of my favorite activities in the summer (and all year, really) is getting ice cream at one of the many ice cream shops on Cape Cod. Be sure to grab a photo of your favorite ice cream treat or sticky little ice cream-soaked fingers with a backdrop of your favorite go to ice cream location.

2. Water Play. Whether you're an ocean, pond, lake or sprinkler family -- be sure to catch some good waves & rays. Try and think of a unique story to capture... perhaps shell hunting with photos of the search and the resulting treasures. Or maybe each summer you walk the length of your favorite beach counting the boats -- document the steps in the sand, the start & finish and, of course, a few of the boats, too.

3. Summer Play List. There's something about the warmth and sunshine that makes me want to blare my radio more than any other time of year. What's your summer playlist and how can you document it? Or maybe you have a tune of the summer each year -- tell us what it is and why? Maybe take a photo of the fancy car screen with the name and artist (if you have that... I don't so I'll have to find another way to document).

4. Bottom's Up. And no, I don't mean actually bottoms! I'm talking cocktails, my friend! Whether it's a fruity rum punch or a non-alcoholic Arnold Palmer, take some photos and document your favorite hot weather thirst quencher. Here's one I could use last summer -- my friend Amie & I took a liking to Strawberry Daiquiri's last July when cruising the coast of Alaska!

5. Summer Shenanigans. There's something about summer that makes us silly! Document those goofy moments -- you know, when you're nephew puts the beach bucket on his head or the dog is sprawled out on the floor with his tongue hanging out trying to cool off. What photo can you take that shows that some like it "hot" -- or maybe that some don't!

When you're documenting summer, don't just think Fourth of July and cookouts -- what's the "deeper" stories -- summer traffic, your favorite go-to summer shoe or your favorite fried food locale.

I hope you'll make your own summer photo bucket list and share it with me -- or better yet. Share the photos you plan to scrapbook at a crop with me this fall!

Spotlight on Perfectionism

Can I tell you something I've been struggling with lately? I've been wanting to revitalize this blog for months now. Months. But I'm struggling with perfectionism. What's funny is if you were to ask me if I am a perfectionist, I would tell you no. But it literally just became clear to me this morning that everything I'm holding myself back from is due to perfectionism. There, I said it.

"You should wait until you have something important to say."
"You should start eating better on a day when you haven't already overshot your calorie goal."
"You should go shopping because nothing you own right now looks good on you."

All things I've told myself within the last 24 hours. I didn't realize what has been holding me back both personally and professionally has been a major case of not being "up to par." I'm telling you here because, well, I think calling it out is the first step in making a change. And I suspect, I'm not the only one that talks to herself so negatively - and I hope by admitting it here that perhaps it may help you see that you're not being kind to yourself either.

So here it is. My first blog post in over a year. I hope it won't be my last. And if you don't hear from me in a while, maybe you should reach out... I may have fallen into the perfectionism trap again!

Since I'm spotlighting perfectionism today. I thought a great technique to show you would be "spotlighting" (see what I did there?).

It's a super fun (and easy!) stamping technique that allows you to highlight just the aspect of a card that you would like to show off (Don't you wish we could do that with ourselves??).

Anyway, this technique is great for large line-art images -- particularly if you don't want to do the intricate coloring required for the image. But today, I'm using this technique on a way simpler image and it still works!

I'm featuring the brand new "Over the Moon" stamp set from Stampin' Up. This adorable stamp set is the one I'll be using in my Stamp of the Month class this Thursday (June 20th) at the Chatham Community Center here on Cape Cod. New Color Week: Day 8!

Do you ever struggle with where to begin when you sit down to craft? Staring at an empty craft table or even a blank piece of Crumb Cake cardstock can be overwhelming when you are surrounded by supplies.

The Stampin' Up Idea Book & Catalog is a great resource not just for the best crafting supplies on the planet (in my opinion!), but it can also be a great tool for idea generation.

Today's featured project was inspired by a project on page 18 of the brand new 2018-2019 Idea Book and catalog.

I love the card above in general, but I really fell in love with the purple and ocean blue color combo. So I used that inspiration and added in one of my favorite "ocean" themed stamp sets Magical Mermaid and came up with this:

New Color Week: Day 7!

We're in the home stretch of my New Color Week kicking off the brand new colors introduced in the 2018-2019 Stampin' Up catalog. And I think I've saved my two favorite cards for last. Today's card is a favorite because it uses my much loved High Tide stamp set.

Here's a sneak peek:

Nice and "beachy" just the way I like it! Today's color combo features the brand new Blueberry Bushel and Mango Melody. Of course there is some Crumb Cake in there as well and a bit of Soft Suede.

New Color Week: Day 6!

Weekend is here! It's actually glorious weather here on the Cape and I'm hoping to escape down to the beach for a little bit today or tomorrow. The ocean is my safety and sanity zone... just makes me clear my head and calm down in what has been a bit of a difficult week.

But! I have some fun inspiration for you today -- in fact, while my heart is at the beach, I'm thinking about Christmas today! Can you believe it? Don't worry -- I'm not going to deluge you with Christmas projects quite yet, but I do have a color combo today that just cried out to be a holiday card.

Our color inspiration today is Merry Merlot, Shaded Spruce, Soft Suede and a touch of Crumb Cake.

Some amazing new colors, yes? Which one is your favorite... I must admit that I've only used it a tiny bit so far, but I'm kind of in love with Soft Sea Foam. And just looking at this photo made me want to do a card with Soft Sea Foam and Gorgeous Grape (and maybe add in some Highland Heather, too!).

Okay... on to today's new color project. Today's highlighted colors are Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover and Grapefruit Grove... with Soft Suede as our neutral.

This is a very bright color combination so I used some of our vellum cardstock to tone down the look a bit.

I actually embossed the vellum cardstock with the Layered Leaves dynamic Emobssing Folder, too. What do you think about this card? It gave me a lot of trouble to get it just right as I was putting it together, but I think it works!

I'm off to visit my little furry niece Vanilla for a bit. She is so sad after we lost her sister Caramel on Monday. My sister is traveling for work the past few days so I've been stopping in just to check on her. She always makes me smile... even now when she seems so, so sad. It breaks my heart.

New Color Week: Day 3!

I'm having so much fun playing with these new colors this week. Do you have a favorite yet? It's so hard to choose!

Anyway, on to today's card. I pulled out "Fred." Fred is the octopus in my Sea of Textures stamp set. I really wasn't sold on the stamp set because of this little octopus ... he was a little too "real life" for me. But he has quickly been growing on me so of course I named him! Now I can't imagine my life without "Fred"... (ha!).

I love the two sentiments in this set, too. The "thanks for reaching out" is perfect and I love "Have a wonderful adventure" -- it could be used for so many things.

Here is the card for today. I'm using Poppy Parade and Balmy Blue as my highlighted new colors and of course I threw in a little Crumb Cake, too.

I love the dies that coordinate with this set. They are called Under the Sea and they have so many amazing elements like sand dollars, netting and little "cut out" fishies, which I use on this card. You can see that in better detail in the video below.

Maybe it was the years traipsing through antique stores as a kid with my Mom, but I'm a girl that loves me some vintage. Well, at least in my crafting. I love, love, love a good vintage card and that's what I have for you today.

Today's spotlight colors are the new Granny Apple Green and Petal Pink with a some Crumb Cake thrown in, of course.

Stampin' Up launched it's brand new 2018|2019 annual catalog this past weekend and I had a bunch of fun playing with new toys while at the Just Scrappin' crop in Rocky Hill, CT. I've made eight projects to share with you as part of my "New Color Week."

Each day I'll share a new project with you right here on the blog (and on my YouTube channel) featuring new colors.

Today's card features Gray Granite, Grapefruit Grove and Soft Sea Foam with a little tiny burst of Coastal Cabana.

I love this little Rhino -- he is from the brand new Animal Outing Stamp set. It's a pretty straight forward card, but here are some measurements for you:

Gray Granite Base: 8.5 x 5.5 inches
Grapefruit Grove layer (embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder): 3 3/4 x 4 3/4 inches
Vellum Cardstock: 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches
Soft Sea Foam: 3 x 3 inches
Whisper White: 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 inches

Also used on the card were the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch.

It's Tuesday, which means I have a new Teach Me Tuesday video for you. Today I'm highlighting the Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set Amazing you, but I also give you some tips for how to find stamp sets that will be great "workhorses" for your scrapbooking projects as well as cards.

I have three tips for what to look for in a stamp set when you'd like to use it on scrapbook pages, and I share them in today's video and in the text below the video.

First, let's take a look at the finished page:

My Mom has been on my mind recently and it felt really good to "see" her face. I knew I wanted to use the coordinating Celebrate You thinlits (also free during Sale-A-Bration) on this page, and so I went specifically looking for a photo of my Mom to use. I have to say as I was flipping through photos of her, it felt really good to look at her and think about her (although it is still very hard even five years later not to get teary eyed). But it seriously felt like I had found a long lost friend.

The page came together relatively quickly using the Petal Passion Designer Series paper and Amazing You Stamp set.

And just in case you don't have time to watch the video now, below are the three tips I shared for selecting a stamp set to use on your scrapbook pages. For your reference, here is the image of the Amazing You stamp set:

1. Look for a set that has greetings/sayings that can be used as a title. Obviously for the Amazing You stamp set, there are a lot of options like Celebrate You for a birthday, graduation or other milestone event. You are Simply Amazing works for so many things -- like for your Mom. (smile). I also used just the small "you" and added a handwritten "love" above it to create a simple little tag.

2. You want a stamp set that has elements that can be used as scrapbooking embellishments. So in this case, I used the flower to create my own color coordinated flowers to accent my page. The sunburst image in this set also has great potential on scrapbook pages.

3. Finally you want to find images in a stamp set that could be used for background stamping - think under a photo, around a border of a photo or as an all over pattern on the larger page. The sunburst and flower image could both be used as a background in addition to an element.

Clearing the Clutter

You may think what I'm going to share with you today is a bunch of woo-woo nonsense, but I must tell you that I 100% believe in the power of your mind... and even it's inability to see around a mess.

My desk area has looked like this for probably about 6 months (gasp!):

Yup. It's pretty embarrassing to show that to you. Particularly because it looked like that for so long. But over the weekend, I had finally had enough. That same area, now looks like this:

Oh gosh. I can't tell you how much better I feel. I've already been way more productive today than I think I was all week last week. Now, it's still not perfect... there's still a little pile of "whatnots" in the other room that I haven't found a home for yet, but this was so rejuvenating for me. I'm actually eyeballing some other areas of the house that are on my "up next" list.

I totally believe that clutter around you leads to a cluttered brain. And as much as I know that, I never made it a priority to fix this. Silly me.

I think this overly cluttered home of mine had me in a bit of a paralyzed mode... if you hadn't noticed, I was pretty quiet last week. No Teach Me Tuesday video, no weekly email, not much on Facebook. I decided I was going to take a little self-care week. It wasn't my intent initially, but once I found myself lazing around unable to get started on anything, I made "today the day" and I tackled that mess.

Now I feel as though I can think straight and I have lots of things I'd like to share with you in the coming weeks. We're about half-way through Sale-A-Bration and I feel as though I haven't shown you all the goodness available for free... PLUS we have three new items becoming available later this week!

Stamping with my "chosen" family

I had such an amazing weekend... it may not have been the most productive one for me (I'm such a chatter!), but it definitely revitalized my soul.

Each time we have a new Stampin' Up catalog (the new Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure launched on January 3rd!), I host an all day stamping event for my team of Shore Stampers. Right now we have just under 40 of us on the team and we're spread out around the country.

So I designed 16 projects for them (that can all be used in their business if they are building one, or just for fun if they love to stamp!) and we got together for a full day of crafting on Saturday. What I love about the January team event is we turn it into a "Stampover." So we finish the training at 4pm on Saturday, but then we hang out all night and through most of the day on Sunday working on our own projects and just laughing and having fun!

We had 10 of us this weekend (including me) and I love that these ladies get along so well even though some of them only see each other once or twice a year (other than online). In fact, they even warmly welcomed one of our newest team members... it is so, so awesome to watch. These ladies are my extended, chosen family! Here's a picture of them hard at work on their projects:

I really work to spoil all of them while they are here ... so these are some photos of the goody bags and pillow gifts from the day:

I had two different styles of goody bags for them... the flower one, and this one that says "Sequins + Glitter = True Love." How true, right?? Inside the bag was $25 worth of brand new Stampin' Up product that they used on their 16 projects that day. I also gave them each two bottles of water wrapped with the Painted with Love Designer series paper and their first pillow gift: an embossed gable box filled with a variety of Lindt chocolates.

During the day I also have two demo presenters, and a display stamper or two. Linda (above) talked to the group about how to use Stampin' Up's monthly paper crafting kit called Paper Pumpkin to meet your quarterly minimums and even make some money.

Donna also talked about Stampin' Up's corporate event called OnStage, but I totally forgot to take a picture! (wah!).

We had a display stamper lined up as well, but sadly she got the nasty stomach bug that is going around so she wasn't able to attend. Such a bummer... we missed her lots!

After lunch, I had another little pillow gift for them (a full roll of the new white and silver baker's twine) and a yummy little dessert treat from Stephanie's Sweet treats -- they were delicious mini chocolate covered oreos.

At the end of the day I gave them one more pillow gift - it was this cute little bag with the new Sale-A-Bration Memories & More cards (which you can earn with a $50 purchase for free!). I will be sending my team a tutorial of how to make eight gorgeous cards with this product later this week as a bonus class they can make for fun or to use in their business!

After dinner I wanted to make sure they had another little treat for dessert, so Stephanie also made them these gourmet caramel and oreo coated chocolate pretzel rods -- they are SO yummy (I also added a cocktail to that! ha ha...)

We also had a team swap on Sunday morning, where we all made cards using new Stampin' Up product and swapped them out with each other. Swapping is one of my favorite parts of being a demonstrator -- so many amazing ideas! I'll have to share those in a separate post.

Overall, it was a wonderfully fun weekend and I can't wait to host another quarterly training event for the team in June with the launch of the new annual catalog.

Technique: Crayon Resist with Stampin' Up products

I had a great lazy weekend and for the first time in a long time, I'm feeling a bit rejuvenated and ready to tackle my Monday. I have to admit that I've fallen into the trap of working what feels like 24/7, seven days a week now that I work for myself.

But this weekend I participated in an online class from another demonstrator - it was part business training and part creating and it was just what I needed. I spent the entire day in my pajamas being inspired and getting inky on Sunday. I call that a win.

I also hosted a fun Facebook Live Catalog Launch party on Friday night (you can still see all we covered if you go to my By the Shore Stamping Facebook page and click on events and scroll to January 19 -- it was the Sale-A-Bration spotlight event.)

Anyway, I thought I'd share with you one of my favorite techniques from the night. It's called crayon resist and I learned it ions ago when I first became a demonstrator. It was a real "wow" for me, and showed me the possibilities with this "stampin' stuff." (wink, wink).

As you can see below, you don't need to be real meticulous while you're coloring with your crayon -- it still looks great... even if you miss a petal or two!

Happy 2018! Each year for the past three years I've picked a word at the start of the new year to hopefully guide me during the next 365 days. I've never actually written about my word here on the old blog - because it's sadly been a bit neglected - but I'd thought I'd share this year.

Let's look back first... I actually remember my words from the previous years, and while I might not remember exactly why I picked them or how they showed up in my life -- I can still share them with you to give you ideas in case you decide to try this for yourself.

2014 - GROW

In 2014 I was really working towards building my Stampin' Up business to full-time status so I'm sure that is largely why I selected this word. I try and pick a word that reflects both my business and my personal life, though, so I imagine I was trying to grow in some way personally, too -- and I'm sure it wasn't in the waist! Ha!

2015 - SHINE

For 2015, I was looking to really shine -- I wanted to better my best in everything I did, and while I don't really remember how that transpired in my personal life, I know it came through in a significant way in my Stampin' Up business. I earned Founder's Circle that year (which is the top 100 demonstrators) and got an all-expense paid trip to St. George, Utah for a networking and pampering weekend. It was the first time I earned it, and unfortunately the last time. But only because they don't offer that perk anymore. (I actually placed #109 last year GLOBALLY, which was not taken into consideration back in 2015... so with 50,000+ demonstrators worldwide I'm pretty happy with that! In the United States last year I was #60 -- so I think I'm headed upward!)

2016 - FREE

This was the year I was determined to make Stampin' Up my full-time business... and I did. I left my job at the Symphony on September 29th, 2016. It was so exciting... and quite scary! But here I am a little over a year later still loving it!

2017 - ??

Honestly, I don't think I picked a word for last year... and I just realized it as I was typing. I know 2016 was "free" because it was the year I left my job. So looks like I was slacking last year! Oops!

That brings us to 2018 - and my word for this year is BUILD. This is how I want this word to show up in my life this year... I want to build upon my first successful year as a full-time business owner. I want to build my connections, build my offerings and build more success. Personally, I hope to build a better body with better nutrition and regular exercise. I also want to build the life I want, meaning I want to be intentional about how I spend my time -- building in more time with friends and family, building more memorable moments and building more routine (the downfall of working for yourself is having no one expecting anything from you!). Of course, the strange thing about selecting a word for the year -- it's always so surprising to see how it shows up in your life outside of what you were initially thinking when you first selected it. So we'll have to wait and see what else I "build" this year!

My New Favorite Background Stamps!

Today is a windy, dreary day again here on the Cape. I think we are still experiencing the backlash of Jose -- although the rain is pretty much gone... just lots of wind and clouds. I'm so grateful that this storm was really a non-storm here. There are so many areas of the world that are suffering from weather-related events. It's so crazy! My thoughts and prayers are with Harvey, Irma and earthquake victims today.

I wanted to get back to blogging regularly again, and while I can't commit to blogging/vlogging (that's a blog post with a video!) every day, I am going to shoot for two times a week (Tuesday & Thursday). So I hope you'll come back and visit me each week.

Today I wanted to show you the card I made in my Facebook live video from the Fall for Holidays Countdown. It was a live video so I don't have a link for it, but I wanted you to see this card. The Tree Rings background stamp is AMAZING. I particularly love stamping it in white ink on a dark colored background (like on this card).

Don't you love that background? It's the Whisper White craft ink on the Early Espresso cardstock. I love the rustic feel of this card... it was actually what I was going for when I created it. Love when that happens!

Teach Me Tuesday: Embossing Paste TWO ways

Hello there my crafty friends! It's Tuesday! That means I have a new video for you in my Teach Me Tuesday series. Last week after my 12 days of Fall for Holiday Catalog Countdown I held an online party on Facebook that had two live demos as part of the party. However, my first one went a little wonky because the video came out sideways! Darn. So, I decided I needed to recreate that video and load it to my YouTube channel. I didn't just want to re-do the card I made last week, though. I wanted to give you something NEW, too. So I created this little beauty:

This is SO not my usual style! I knew I wanted to use the embossing paste in two different ways, though. One showing the way I used it in last week's Facebook Live video (the snow on the tree) and then the second way as the "traditional use." I figured I'd show that again as I think I've gotten better at it then my first time playing with it (You can see that video HERE.)

And just because I showed it in the video (and my sideways FB Live video last week), here is the first "snow" card I did using embossing paste:

I really love this one. It is traditional "Jen Style." It's good to break out of our style rut, though, every once and a while though and go "rogue." It's good for the creative soul... it's like that milk commercial... it does the body good!

Fall for Holiday Countdown #12: Quick & Easy Cards

Can you believe it... we've made it to day 12! Maybe I'm just surprised that I made it! Ha Ha... I hope you enjoyed are little "tour" of the new Stampin' Up Holiday catalog. Fall for Holiday Countdown #11: Did Someone Say Pizza?

It's day #11! Can you believe it? I'm a bit late again today, but we had a Creative Escape planning meeting tonight! Yay! And between writing press releases for the Symphony this morning and designing potential make and takes and pillow gifts for Creative Escape this afternoon, I just plain ran out of time to get this project finished and emailed out!

But here I am, for the 11th project featuring new product from the brand new Stampin' Up holiday catalog released on September 1. You can shop the new goodies in my online store HERE or view it in a PDF format HERE.

Okay, let's talk about today's project. It's actually a continuation of yesterday's project(s) in that it still uses primarily the same products from the "You Can Make It" box on page 4 of the Holiday catalog, except that I added the adorable little pizza boxes to the mix.

Here's a sneak peek of my project:

I envision this being the perfect little hostess gift -- maybe for Thanksgiving as then they'd have the whole holiday season to use the Christmas themed cards? But you could easily change up the paper and theme so you could gift it for any holiday, maybe using winter themed products or even Valentine's Day!

And here it is open, with the cute little 3 x 3 cards inside. (Sorry for the horrible lighting in this picture... it's difficult to take nice photos at night!):

In today's video I show you how to make a removable belly band. You can use this technique for all sorts of boxes, and even packets of cards. Basically anything you want to hold together, but want to be able to pull them apart, too -- without ruining your cute little decorative stamping.

Fall for Holiday Countdown #10: Quilted Christmas

Hey there friends...

It's Sunday night and I am pooped! Had a fun weekend at the Ready Set Crop event. It was great to see so many of you in person again. I love the summer, but I certainly miss all my scrappers for those few months!

We're on day #10 of my Fall for Holiday Countdown where I'm counting down some fun, fall (and holiday) projects to celebrate the release of the new Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog on September 1st. For day #10 I have more of a tip for you rather than a technique or fancy project. But I do have several projects today -- two of them are straight out of the holiday catalog (page 4) and two are super simple, which I promised you the other day. These would all be great cards to copy for "mass producing" if you have a lot of cards to make this year.

My goal today was to point out the "You Can Make It" boxes in both the holiday catalog and in the annual catalog. These little boxes of coordinating product are the perfect "starting point" for your projects and are generally enough supplies to make a multitude of projects for a reasonable price. So don't just skip over those pages! (The list of supplies for these "You Can Make It" projects are listed on page 4 of the Holiday catalog).

I love to spend a few minutes each night reading before turning out the light. Right now I'm re-reading the whole Harry Potter series and I can't believe how much of them I forgot already ... and I'm only on book 2!

Fall for Holiday Countdown # 9: Smitten Mittens

It's weekend, my friends. Yay! I'm all set up at the Ready Set Crop event, spending the weekend with some of my favorite crafty friends. I hope you're doing something fun (and not waiting for one of the beastly hurricanes to arrive... prayers to those of you in the path of Irma.)

If you're visiting my blog for the first time today, welcome! I've been counting down some of my favorite products in the new Stampin' Up Holiday catalog with 12 days of fun, fall projects. We're on day #9. And I'm pulling out one of the stamp sets that first caught my eye when I looked through the catalog. It's called Smitten Mittens and it is adorable. Great for holiday, but also winter and even Valentine's day -- I can't wait to use that "Smitten" greeting!

Fun, right? I can see so many different color schemes with this one, too, but I took my inspiration from the cover of the new holiday catalog...

I loved the reds and blues together so I decided to pair Real Red, Pool Party, Powder Pink and Garden Green. Here's a look at my finished project:

I also used the new Quilted Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. So many fun prints in there! I showed a few of them in my video below and we'll be playing with the Quilted Christmas suite soon!
