Debuting yesterday afternoon, this latest Mayer Hawthorne video is a swanky, funky & slightly buzzed addition to my prized collection of MH videos here on SBYJ.
As the most-posted artist on my blog and my ever-adoring narratives, I think it's pretty obvious how I feel about this boy - but don't let my undying crush sway you too much. I'll just post the video and keep my little, puckered lips shut.

Infamous for using female sexuality to the result of banned videos (Girls on Film & The Chauffer, most notably), Duran Duran has rounded up some of the hottest supermodels from their heyday and did it again with Girl Panic. Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon pose as the band members and apparently that "music television" channel has declared this clip "too sexual" and overwrought with product placement to run on the network.
So, here's what we've learned - If you want your video to get play on "music" television:
-DO say that you kissed a girl and you liked it
-DON'T actually do it in your video

Anyone who can simultaneously sing and play drums deserves their props but in the case of Cheyenne Marie Mize, that's not even the most exceptional thing going on here. This completely percussive cut is performed by a trio of drummers and expands beyond the predictable "boom-cat-boom-boom-cat" into some pretty unique and full-bodied rhythms that make your toes do that tapping thing.
