The Truth

Star Trek 2009 is a rather decent addition to the franchise, that gives the new movie audience a really good background of all the main characters that are famous after all these years. We learn about Kirk’s father, he death and the meeting of Sock and Kirk, which for a lot of us, was never that clear to begin with.

The film is riddled with action, wicked special effects and brings a whole new life to the franchise, that will undoubtedly chime in with many new sequals.

I thought I would dislike Simon Pegg as Scotty, but he nailed the role, while Bana was really good as Romulan badboy Nero. Quinto (from NBC’s “Heroes”) brings Spock back to life, it was no disrespect to the original character.

The Action

Star Trek has lots of action, but I felt most of it was being held for the next movie, in order to introduce (or reintroduce ) the characters to us again.

The Laughs

A few laughs hidden in the dialogue for Trekkies and nerds alike.

What’s good about it?

The history, the acting.. and the fact they never destroyed beloved characters a generation or two has fallen in love with. I appreciated the fact they didn’t overdue the reinvention of a young Spock, Kirk or others.

What’s bad about it?

Although I loved the fact they needed to reinvent the characters, I found it a little too over-the-top in some of the exploits. Kirk and Spock are, at times, put in situations and circumstances a little out of character from the original series.

You’ll Like It If

Trekkies will like it, with a little bit of nitpicking along the way. If you love Sci-Fi like I do, you’ll enjoy Star Trek 2009 very much, its a winner.

Star Trek 2009 is a success on every level, and a fun ride for fans of the old series and will bring many new ones aboard the fan base. Check it out, Star Trek rocks.

Why I’m pumped

Public Enemies is being made by the same man who made Heat, The Insidera and Heat , The Insider & The Last of the Mohicans . Michael Mann makes good movies, with this cast I suspect Public Enemies is going to be incredible.

Does this H2 Trailer pump you up? I gotta admit, it caught my interest.

The Truth

Fighting follows the pattern of ‘I’m going to pound your face in’ movies that we’ve been swarmed with lately. You know the plot, the main character doesn’t really want to fight, but is forced to… and there’s a girl involved, there always is (Zulay Henao).

Terrence Howard is the crooked character who introduces Harvey Boarden into the world of underground fighting in NYC. He’s crooked, but ends up caring about Harvey and … as usual… ends up befriending him and learning a bit about himself along the way.

Sure, the movie isn’t too original, but its actually pretty decent. I think the way it moves along really helped the movie out, there wasn’t a lot of downtime in it, which is nice. The fight scenes are really well choreographed and props to Cung Le .. on of my favorite MMA fighters, who was really good in the film as a bad-ass.

Channing Tatum is solid in this role of bad boy Havey Boarden, and he’ll be a superstar in Hollywood one day, possibly when G.I Joe hits the screen soon.

The Action

Fighting has a ton of action, that is well scripted and not ridiculously phony like most movies. Credit to the production team for doing this properly.

What’s good about it?

The fighting, the action, the locations around NYC.

What’s bad about it?

There’s not much else in the film but fighting.

If you like Red Belt, Never Surrender, Kickboxer etc … you’ll enjoy Fighting.

Better than I thought, with a higher than average display of fighting scenes and action that carries the movie along nicely. Conisdering the fact most girls have a serious crush on Channing Tatum, you’ll have no problem dragging your girlfriend/wife to the film.
