Fans of all ages are intrigued to wear Star Trek costumes. There are so many shows as well as movies now, you have lots of options. No matter if you are just looking for something to wear to a party or you are an avid Trekkie on the way to a convention, you can find the right costume.

The first thing to do is decide which Star Trek era you are going for. Is it the original series that you love the best? Or maybe you prefer Deep Space 9, The Next Generation, Enterprise or Voyager? Or maybe it is one of the movies that really sparks your creativity?

Whichever you prefer is going to have an impact on your costume in more ways than just uniform changes. In the first series, for example, the Klingons were the enemy. Later on, they began to work with the Federation. Their makeup changed quite a bit also.

Your budget will also have an impact on what you can choose. Your entire costume can be purchased if you want to spend that much cash. In that case, you can choose to be whomever or whatever you like and buy the clothes, makeup and accessories. If you would rather not purchase your whole outfit, it will be cheaper to keep to a Starfleet uniform and a human or character more closely resembling one than a Klingon.

For example, if you are in Starfleet, you can easily put together the shirt and pants. Just be sure that you have the right colors and design for the time period you are going for. You can find plenty of references online to help you with that. Obviously, the simplest uniforms are from the original series. If you are creatively inclined and up for some extra work, you can find uniform patterns also. This will enable you to get a more realistic looking costume.

Regarding makeup, if you prefer not to be a human, you can go for the Vulcan look and make or buy prosthetic ears. A Bajoran is also fairly easy to do with just a bit of make-up. Keep in mind that more make-up is also going to mean more expense and the more elaborate it is, the more difficult it is going to be to make it look right.

Accessories are a good place to spend some extra money to help your character look more authentic. You can invest in the correct weapons, badges or communicator for example. If your uniform is not perfect, an authentic looking phaser will go a long way to make up for it.

If you have a favorite episode or scene in a movie, you might be able to find a prop that will fit as well. Fans of the first series could make their own tribbles, for example. Little touches like this will really make your costume special.

Star Trek costumes are a perfect choice for any science fiction fan. Take the time to come up with some prop ideas and make or find the outfit you want. With the right couple of accessories, you will look like you graduated from the Academy.

Get the perfect Star Trek Halloween costumes and accessories now.

What makes Star Trek such a hit among sci-fi enthusiasts? The story about battling the problems of the Universe in the distant future. The memorable characters. The awesome technology used in the TV series and movies. And, you guessed it right, the Star Trek women—the hot, gorgeous women who had sizzled the fans’ viewing experience for more than 40 years.

Star Trek was considered a groundbreaking TV show when it debuted in the 1960s, as it featured women as commanders during the civil rights movement. Despite its anti-sexist claim, the series have featured several Star Trek women dressed in sexy, figure-hugging costumes.

Here are a few Star Trek women who played lead roles in the series and movies.

Seven of Nine (played by Jeri Ryan). She was born human but when she turned six, she was assimilated by the Borg. The character appeared in Star Trek: Voyager series in 1995.

Lieutenant Ilia (played by the late Miss India Persis Khambhatta). Appearing in the film The Motion Picture released in 1979, Ilia is the only Star Trek female character with a shaved head—and still looked beautiful.

New Uhura (played by Zoe Saldana). She is a familiar character for those who have seen the latest 2009 Star Trek movie. Uhura is Spock’s love interest when he was young.

Yeoman Rand (played by Grace Lee Whitney). In the original TV series, Yeoman plays the sexy blonde who was Captain James Kirk’s apple of the eye.

Lieutenant Tasha Yar (played by Denise Crosby). A tough blonde rebel, Yar appeared in The Next Generation series in 1987.

The women of Star Trek play great role models for girls around the world. Why not dress up in female Star Trek costumes to pay tribute?

Star Trek defined TV science fiction in the 1960s. Set ahead of its time (around 20th century), Star Trek showcased several technological wonders such as starships. Largely influenced by the starships of the TV series, some fans try to build their own Star Trek ships.

For non-Trekkies, a starship refers to a manned spacecraft that can travel and transport a crew across interstellar distances at great speeds. Star Trek ships are able to do that through spacecraft propulsion technologies such as warp drive.

One of the most well-known sci-fi spacecrafts ever is found in Star Trek, USS Enterprise, was the Flagship of the Federation. Since the TV series began, seven Star Trek ships have used the name and have gone to places “where no one has gone before.”

Popular as well is the starship that was under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. Touted as the starship that started it all, the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 launched from the San Francisco yards that revolve around the Earth in the year 2245. The original starship, which was used in the TV series, was designed by the first art director of Star Trek.

On the other hand, the starship that was under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard is the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E. This Star Trek ship launched in 2371 and was able to stop the Borg’s assimilation of humanity the following year.

Another ship that was under the command of Picard was the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, which was launched in 2363 from the Utopia Planitia Shipyards that revolved around Mars. The ship was ruined in 2371 during a mission to halt the devastation of the Veridian system.

It’s easy to dress up in Star Trek uniform costumes to act like the crew of a Federation Starship.

Weeks before the Star Trek movie premiered in theaters in May 2009, fans had buzzed about the possibility of the sequel of the all-time favorite sci-fi movie. Even the movie producers are giving some hints that a follow-up movie may be released in 2010 or 2011 with the same cast.

The producers said it would depend on the box-office success of the revival of the Star Trek film. In fact, the producers have already hired screenwriters for the movie’s screenplay. And with the movie’s $76 million opening sales, Trekkies may have something to look forward to in the next two years.

According to reports, the Star Trek movie sequel would focus on the “unpredictable future.” This is because fans already know the fate of the characters—who lived as well as who died—so there’s no point in subjecting certain characters to danger. One of the writers of the movie said there was a need to find ways to make the future of the characters hard to foresee so that when they’re caught in difficult and threatening circumstances, the risk of death would become real.

In particular, online rumor has it that the Star Trek movie sequel would be about the war between Earth and the Romulans. This happened from 2156 to 2160, a time-frame that’s two more years into the future from the Star Trek Enterprise.

In addition, several unforgettable characters would be included in the sequel such as Dr. Tolian Soran and Khan Noonien Singh. Their lives might be altered by the developments in the follow-up Star Trek movie.

If you really enjoyed the first movie, why not take a look at what Star Trek movie costumes are available?

Are you a loyal Trekkie? If space adventure is your thing, then why not spice up your Halloween presence by donning your favorite Star Trek costumes?

To give you an idea on what to wear in your next Halloween party, the following are the five most popular Star Trek costumes:

1. Star Trek The Movie costumes (2009)

Moviegoers saw the characters dressed in Star Trek movie costumes that are more sophisticated than the original ones. The tops have two layers with a quilted pattern over a shirt. Like in the original, the colors of the shirts indicate the crew where a character belongs (i.e., blue for medical and science officers, red for technicians and security personnel, and gold for command officers). Female Starfleet officers wear skirts and short sleeves.

2. The Next Generation uniforms (1987-1994)

The Next Generation costumes include a jumpsuit with a color that identifies which part of the crew a person is in. On the right side of the collar is a rank insignia, while a Starfleet communicator badge is on the left chest.

3. Deep Space Nine uniforms (1993-1999)

A different set of costumes was used for Deep Space Nine TV series. The costumes are one-piece open-necked jumpsuits that have black torsos and colored shoulders that indicate the character’s part in the Starfleet crew.

4. Voyager uniforms (1995-2001)

Because it is set at about the same period as the Deep Space Nine, the Star Trek Voyager used the same uniforms as that of its predecessor.

5. Enterprise uniforms (2001-2005)

The male and female costumes include a blue jumpsuit with colored piping around the shoulders, which indicate a character’s section in the crew. The jumpsuit is matched with a dark long-sleeved undershirt.

Who are the most loved Star Trek characters of all time? About four decades after the phenomenal sci-fi TV series went off the air, some of its characters have left a lasting impression on its millions of viewers. Just who are these classic characters? Read on the list to find out.

5. Data

Data is the first android citizen and officer at the Federation and is the equivalent of Spock in The Next Generation series. He is Picard’s most respected student and ally. Data usually taught humanity to people who are supposed to be more human than he was.

Commander Data

4. Jean-Luc Picard

Aside from Kirk, another unforgettable captain in Starfleet is a French scholar and a fine diplomat known as Jean-Luc Picard. Picard appeared in several Star Trek series such as The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.

Jean-Luc Picard

3. Khan Noonien Singh

Khan, a genetically engineered tyrant in the 20th century, is regarded as the greatest villain among Star Trek characters and in the history of television.

Khan Noonien Singh

2. Spock

Famous for his line “Live long and prosper,” the half-human, half-Vulcan character of Spock is considered one of the greatest science fiction and Star Trek characters of all time. Spock’s relationship with Kirk, which went beyond friendship, is a delightful one to watch.

Spock

1. James T. Kirk

James Tiberius Kirk is the best captain in Starfleet who’s tasked to save the galaxy. Captain Kirk is a pop culture and sci-fi icon. This well-loved character was made popular by the strange yet enchanting portrayal of William Shatner.

Captain James T. Kirk

We hope you enjoyed our list of the top 5 most popular Star Trek characters. Since you’re obviously such a fan, why not try on some Star Trek costumes?
