This question has probably been answered before, but is there a way to get rid of the shortcut overlay on desktop icons?

Changing My Computer Icon

Is there a relatively easy way to change the My Computer Icon in XP. I don't want to change a bunch of icons at the same time, just one at a time. I didn't know if you could simply change one icon with Iconpackager.

Need icons for a docklet!

I am developing a Docklet for ObjectDock that let control the master volume on vista machines. The docklet is almost ready but, being a developer I really lack the skills & creativity for creating an attractive icon set for use in this docklet.

I would really appreciate if someone would like to contribute a set of icons to this project. I need PNG files (256x256 8 bit color) that will resemble the volume intensity selected fro 0 to 100 (that is 0.png, 1.png... 100.png)

IconLook - An Icon Search Engine

My apologies if this has already made it to these pages, but I stumbled across a mention of IconLook via altsearchengines and it seems like a good thing to know about. So far a few random searches turn up decent results, and you can filter by size. I hope it indexes WC's content, if it doesn't someone might want to get things rolling with that.

I would like to update the icons I have for my Bible programs. I teach a teen group and I have lots of bible software on my PC. I am looking for icons for the SWORD Project, Theophilos, Bible Explorer, the online bible and Bible Database.

Enlarge single icon

Hi. Is it possible to enlarge a single icon or a few icons in XP without changing the rest of them?
I'd like to enlarge Hard Drive, My Documents, Bin and Firefox, but I want to keep the shortcuts to my games, programs etc. small.
I do have Iconpackager.

Larger Icons in Detailed View?

The new edition of Icon-A-Day has re-kindled my desire to make a custom icon pack, using various file-type icons that I like. The Icon-A-Day file-types are pretty nice, and they scale down pretty well.

However as I start to do it, i come across the same old problem. 90% of the time I use Explorer, I'm in "Details View" so that I can properly sort file easily....and see pertanent details about them.

The problem with that is, that in Detials View, icons are ...

We all know that Photoshop, Illustrator, and CorelDraw are good image editors for creating icons, but what most people don't know is that Microsoft Word 2007 can be a decent icon creation tool as well. I believe that it's a great tool for those who are new at creating icons, because:

I forgot how I removed text under the recycle bin

When I try to change the text on the desktop an error noise indicates I can't access the text field. I tried checking the registry for the recycle bin and it's all fine there. The ALT+255 and ALT+1060 don't work on the recycle bin and even if they did I should be able to change the name on the desktop.

How do I get the text back and does anyone know what I did? All I remember is that I could only do this to one icon but all of the icons were eligible.

If you're a Vista user, you probably found out that it's harder to customize certain elements of your UI such as icon types. (The "File Types" tab under "Folder Options" doesn't exist in Vista.) IconPackager doesn't allow individual control panel icons to be changed, since there are so many different Control Panel configurations which vary by system. However, i've come across a site which you can change most (but not all) of the Control Panel Icons.

Will Adobe CS4's Icons be well, creative?

For those who have Adobe CS2, their icons were rather creative. Photoshop had a picture of a feather, Illustrator had a flower, etc. What happened? When Adobe CS3 came out, it came with the lamest set of icons i've ever seen. They were extremely simple, and didn't live up to their name (CS stands for creative suite.) Anybody could make improvements to these icons. (I used Microsoft Word for crying out loud.)

Due to a reinstall of my OS and thus everything else, i misplaced both the nice icons i had and the only battery docklet that i have ever had work correctly.

The icons that i used were a combination of two different packages. One set was a plain, simple black set, along with a plain white set, that were all 2-d and very simple. I remember in particular the different 'folder' icons, with different identifiers drawn into a black folder by just having an empty spot.

Ever since updating to IP4, those icons have mysteriously disappeared, and I'm unable to find them anywhere... Hey Stardock? Uninstalling IP leaves blank icons

I then uninstalled it.

Now I'm left with lots of blank icons.

There are two accounts on my computer. When I go to log into mine, everything loads fine, except for the icons. The program icons will load correctly, but things like weather, startbar, etc., all just get the question mark. I've fixed this by reinstalling OD whenever I log in, and it loads the images back, minus a few. Is there any other way to fix this other than having to reinstall it everytime i log in?
