ok....so....I had Eve Online about 2 1/2 years ago...

I remember liking the game, but other games came out and well, I just got distracted and just kinda stopped playing. I think it was Star Wars Galaxies, maybe, that took me away from Eve.

ok I am looking for a good MMORPG is free (no subscriptions, am willing to pay a one off payment for initail download or disc etc)

what would you recomend? I like Sci-fi, but want something that had alot of dept, something I can really work at,as I don't wokr cos of a disability and have too much time on my hands, I did like Eve online (but can't afford the fees, and found it just daunting lol)

4X mmorpg?

Why isnt there a 4X mmorpg? I personally think it would be a great idea.

Imagine a huge galaxy, thousands of stars, and thousands of companies/empires whatever fighting for the control of those stars and the resources out there. The possibilities would be endless and it would take the meaning of 4X, explore, expand, exploit and exterminate to a whole new level.

I've been trying to explore different MMOGs to discover why people put in enormous time and energy to playing these games. I've found that I get bored very quickly with them, which causes me to ask myself what makes a game fun in the first place (for me at least). My opinion is based on my own way of enjoying games, so I'm not trying to invalidate other's sense of fun. Rather, I am wondering what I would want from an MMOG to actually pay a monthly fee for it.
