Failed horribly at customizing the game files - need some help fix it

A few montha ago I stopped playing the game, then a while ago my g/f started playing and as a practicle joke I edited some of the state information files to make it impossible for a democrat to win... I made a bakeup copy before hand, but now I cannot find it and I want to play the game again. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the state information didnt change, so I deleted every game file, then uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still not look... So I was hoping someone ...

Map Editor

Is there a map editor within the game or any of its updates? I have yet to find a definitive yes or no while searching through the forums.

Stardock: Is it possible to enable editing of the candidates that come with the game?

Currently, you can edit custom candidates that you make in TPM, but you can't change any of the prexisting candidates that come with the game, like Obama, McCain, Palin, etc. I'd like to tinker around with their issues and statistics (especially for some of these candidates that don't even have stances on issues) but currently, that option is grayed-out. This is particularly egredious for McCain and Obama, who both have very weird policy stances which extend beyond the normal maximum...

I'm sure that this has been asked before, but will there be a mid-term version of PM coming out in the future?

I'd love the idea of running for governor, senator, or congressman. Plus running for mayor and other positions with in the local community.

How difficult would it be to create a game w/ such detail?

Is it possible to mod custom candidates...such as increasing the possible points given in making the candidates?....I know someone made some west wing characters and they used more points than possible in custom candidates.

Hi Guys, I've just downloaded the express edition with a view to buying the full version but have come across problems. Firstly Impulse would not log in; I changed my proxy settings and now it is fine, Impulse is fully updated and logs in without any problems. However, when I use my stardock username / password after I click Play in TPM, it just says I have a bad user/pass combo. I don't understand at all. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Missing Map

I have had this game for a while, I bought it in Ocotber of 2008 new. Now all of a sudden the map has disapeared and is just a black screen. When I randomly click I can hear my plane take off and go to a state, but I cant see anything, just the patriotic frame.What should I do?

missing icons

Sometimes, about 50% of the time actually, I start the game and my candidates don't show up on the map. You can click on them however, but it would just be a blank space with a circle around it. Today, in fact, the same thing happened with my advertising icons. Also, on occaision, the candidates are just replaced by fake characters in suits, or skirts, with no face. What's going on?

You may or may not be aware but Stardock has provided a means for us to easily share our custom candidates. It's pretty easy to do to.

Fire up TPM You must have 1.1 to take a snapshot and 1.5 to have the *.candidate format. You HAVE at least 1.5, right? Everything in my game is fine, except I can't go onto interviews when they pop up. I go to the state, and the window pops up with, instead of the show's description, a sentence saying the string file can't be found. Then you click to do the interview and you just return immediately to the map. Can you help me?

Differnent awareness rates for different states?

It seems that the awarenesses are very random. Some states will have an awareness of 80 while some are at 30, even though i never visited either state. Is it connected to the issues or something?

Help with RAM

Hi,

I have just bought the Political Machine but have realised that my laptop does not meet the required spec to play it. It asks for 512 MB RAM and Windows XP Service Pack2.

I have realised that my laptop has just over 300 MB RAM and I have XP service pack 1. When go to load it I get a message saying '512 physical memeory required to play the game' or something similar.

Modifying State Shapes in a New Map

Version Error while logging in

When I try to log in to play multiplayer in Political Machine 2008 i get an error box in game that says 'version error'. I don't know what the problem is. I have the right version, 1.5, and my account name and password are fine.

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this problem?

Can't Install

Bought PM08 after playing the demo and can't install it. I uninstalled the demo and when i try to install the game and when i actuall start the install it gets a fatal error. Any help? TIA

Why dont they ever move around? Is it just me or does the oppenents VP never move no matter where they may be needed for awareness.

if any election proved that VP selection was important, it was this one.

my game crashes whenever i try to start a new campaign. im able to make a candidate, but when i try to play it crashes back to the desktop.

I am consistently winning the electoral vote while losing the popular vote, in fact, the only times I'm winning the popular vote are when I win by big margins in the electoral college (like 350+) EVs.
