DeskScapes Installation Error

Hey everyone,

i recently downloaded deskscapes (the second download/the one for vista ultimate users/v1.02) but i cant get it to install.
The first time i tried it reached about 80% then failed saying it was corrupt or something. So i downloaded it again, yet this time it only reached about 40% before the same error came up saying it was a corrupt installation...

I am running Vista Ultimate, and have aero and all those things running, including the windows dreamscene.

Any ideas on what...

Dynamic Dreams Question

So, for those of you that don't know, I've been working on making some cool new Dynamic Dreams. Only problem is, these Dynamic Dreams have some fancy new keyboard and mouse input commands! (ooohh!! super fancy!)

I've been having a problem though... Nobody wants their computer to be actively running mouse input (wasting a little CPU usage) when they're not looking at their desktop. It just doesn't make sense to have an object on your desktop following your mouse around when you can't see it! S...

DeskScapes use on Tablet PCs

As much as I love the Dreams and the DeskScspes Backgrounds, they only work on pc's in landscape mode. I would love to see functionality become available for those of us with Tablet PCs using the Portrait Screen Orientation! Anyone creative enough to accomplish such a thing? The screen resolution on a tablet pc is the same numerically, (i.e.,1200 x 800 landscape becomes 800 x 1200 portrait). Once i learn how to build the Dreams myself, and acquire that artistic edge...

Stardock water dream problem...

Hello!

I'm sure it's user error but not sure what I should do to fix my issue at this time.

My issue is as follows...

Stardock water dream is running on my vista ultimate 32bit machine (which runs fine) except one thing: when changing the background image from 'sand' to anything else, deskscapes or vista does not retain the new image i have selected and always reverts back to sand upon restart/reboot.

Have I missed something glaringly obviouse?

Can't Run deskscapes with windowblinds

I just purchased object desktop and everything installed correctly. Deskscapes was working fine until I applied a windowblinds theme. Now it says that desktop manager is not running although I've checked and it is. These are the two programs I bought it for and I'm very frustrated. I emailed support@stardock, but they aren't answering me. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Here's my info

I downloaded the DeskScapes from the official website and when i was installing it, it said "it cant find vista..when it was being installed on vista..

Other question is that, do you HAVE to buy the program to get the animated wallpapers/backgrounds to wok?

and what is the DeskScapes[free] for if its there on the website.

Can the speed of animations be controlled?

I tried the demo a while back and found the animations to be too fast. I would want something much more subtle than a windstorm in a field. The demo was just too limited to be of any use. I wish there were a time-limited demo of the real product so I could try it.

So, does it allow me to slow down movies that people have made?

Problems uninstalling or closing down DeskScapes

Hi,

I installed the trial of DeskScapes 2.0 from Download.com but was not impressed. Computer freezing, jerky animation.. in short
of no interest to me. I know, I can start installing older drivers and do this and that, but I just want to get rid of it!

Have tried installing DeskScapes several times but when I then try to uninstall it I always get a message that says somthing like
"no install log file found" and the prosess stops. What to do?

I bought deskscape 2.0 and I really wish I hadn't.

I can run any dream fine but when I restart my PC its just a black screen. I have tried everything I can think of. I have mpeg2 codec, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I have the newest drivers.

The EXACT same thing happens with my laptop. I am seriously getting frustrated. I don't know why im posting this, I have found other peoples posts with the same problem but there are no answers.

Just got Vista Ultimate and started playing with dreams.

One thing that I would like to see in a future release is a merger of this capability with Virtual Desktops.

Right now, I can have one or the other but not both and multiple desktops is something I've kind of come to depend on.

Any possibility of supporting dreams in addition to wallpapers in the future on Virtual Desktops?

(Sorry if this should have been posted in the other forum, didn't know whether the chicken should precede...

Hi, I emailed support last Thursday, but have not received any response from them, hence I'm gonna try posting the problem here.

I purchased DeskScapes last Thursday, 19 June 2008. Installed it, and loaded a dream. It does not matter which dream it is, but whenever Vista's UAC prompt pops up, the system would go into a hard lock, where even the num-lock on my keyboard would not respond, forcing me to turn off and on the PC.

I just installed the free version of DS2 on my Vista Home Premium. Everything works as supposed (I think), but I observed the played Dream never pauses by itself. I mean, MS's DreamScenes is cleverly designed to automatically pause when any window is maximized (smart choice, the desktop is no longer visible and it's highly presumable the PC user is really working, not... Hi,

After running the free version of Deskscapes, I've bought it and install it above the cuurent version. all was running fine.

Then, I decided to buy some .dream too, like Liquid and DesktopCollage. Both were running fine too. I could change the backgrounds or the directory.

Today, they still running, but I don't have any option anymore ! Worse : when I click on "Choose an animated desktop", I only see a black .bmp and nothing more. No options, No .dreams.

If I click on "Add/Remove...

I have DeskScapes with Vista Ultimate.

My stats:

q6600 quad core
4gb ram
512mb 8800gt

On default dreams for windows DreamScenes and Deskscapes, everything is fine and smooth but when I import a .dream file to deskscapes, it's always kinda jerky or laggy, or a lower framerate enough to bug me.
I've tried with various files from various sites but they all kinda lag.

I've got plently of ram and cpu... and I'm not even running anything.
Is any one else experiencing anything like ...

So, while I have a few minutes off waiting for approval on stuff I decided to write a new article explaining what I do...

Currently, I'm a University of Michigan student working at Stardock creating Dynamic Dreams for DeskScapes (ooh, fancy!). So far, I've been able to make updates on existing dreams (like the Water Dream and starting on the Photo Desktop Dream) and am also creating some new dreams (which will be unveiled later... when they aren't super secret?).

So, this begs the question...
