      <title>June 2026 Monthly Tropical Cyclones Report</title>

      <description>Seven named storms occurred across the globe in June, which was above the 1991-2020 average of 5.5. Two of those reached tropical cyclone strength (greater than or equal to 74 mph), and one reached major tropical cyclone strength (greater than or equal to 111 mph). The global accumulated cyclone energy (ACE: an integrated metric of the strength, frequency, and duration of tropical storms) was 26.0x10^4kt^2 or about 90% of the 1991-2020 average for June.</description>

      <description>June is typically the month with the second-highest count of tornado occurrences across the United States. Historically, most June tornadoes are concentrated across the Plains and Midwest. According to data from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center (SPC), there were 374 preliminary tornado reports during June, which is 176% of the 1991-2020 June average of 212.6 tornadoes and the third-highest on record for June. This month's highest concentration of events was clustered across Illinois and Indiana.</description>
