He won the award as against Salman Khan in Bodyguard and Shahrukh Khan in Don 2. Shahrukh Khan won the best actor (jury) category award for his performance in the film Don 2. Salman Khan was again ignored for awards inspite of giving greatest blockbuster Bodyguard in 2011. Vidya Balan won the best actress award in Zee Cine Awards 2012, for her brilliant performance in the film Dirty Picture in both the popular category and the jury category. She is winning awards everywhere. Imtiaz Ali won the best director award for the film Rockstar. AR Rehman won the best music director award for his brilliant performance in the film Rockstar. Shreya Ghoshal won the best female singer award for the song “saibo” in the film Shor in City. Mohit Chouhan won the best male singer award for the song “job hi mai” from Rockstar. The song “ishq sufinana” from Dirty Picture had been adjudged as the best song of the year. Siddque got the award for the best debut director for the film Bodyguard. Dirty Picture, Rockstar and Bodyguard got most of the awards. Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra hosted the awards ceremony held in Macau on 21st January, 2012.

Although the film was based on fantasy, Kabir Bedi’s performance was worth mentioning. Kabir Bedi was also sublime in the film Kohram. Big B and Nana Patekar fought against the antisocial activities of Danny in the film. Kabir Bedi played the role of Military major and he did very well in the film. The listeners of music all over the world wish happy birthday to Mahendra Kapoor on 9^th January, 2012. Few years ago the great singer had left the listeners. But he is alive in his numerous brilliant basic discs and film songs.

He came to limelight in bollywood music with the resemblance of classical singer Mohammad Rafi. In fact Rafi is the idol and guru and Mahendra Kapoor learned singing from the musical giant. Mahendra Kapoor became a big contributor in BR Chopra’s films in the 50s and 60s. In Rajender Kumar’s film Dhool Ka Phool Mahendra Kapoor’s songs were very successful.

During that period, Mahendra Kapoor sang a brilliant Bengali modern song “ekti e raat katena” which made viewers spellbound. The song had pathos feeling, romantic appeal, classical touch everything embedded in it. He was unblemish in Sunil Dutt’s film Gumraah released in 1963. His song “chalo ek baar bhir se” became super hit in the early 60s. Composer Ravi had composed many brilliant tunes for Mahendra Kapoor in his illustrious career which included the songs “neele gagan ki tale” in the film Humraaz for which he received filmfare award for the best singer, “in baharon me in ghatayon me tujhko mera dil pukare” in the film Gumraah to name a few.

Mahendra Kapoor also sang many songs under composition of OP Nayyar which included “one two three” in Biswajeet’s film Kismat, “lakhon hai mera dilwala” in Biswajeet’s film Kismat, “baharen phir bhi ayegi” in Dharmender’s film Baharen Phir Bhi Ayegi. Mahendra Kapoor also sang important songs in the blockbusters of Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar. In Raj Kapoor’s Sangam his song “har dil jo pyar karega” with Mukesh and Lata became super hit. In Dilip Kumar’s films Ram Aur Shyam and Aadmi, his songs were impressive.

Mahendra Kapoor started a new innings with Manoj Kumar’s film Upkaar. He sang numerous number of patriotic songs for Manoj Kumar including “rang de basanti chola” in the film Shahid, “mere desh ki dharti “ in the film Upkaar, etc. He contributed in films like Purab Aur Paschim, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Kranti, etc.

It is not possible to highlight the contribution of Mahendra Kapoor who had contributed in bollywood films for more than 40 years in a small article. Numerous listeners miss Mahendra Kapoor but remember him in his melodious songs. His songs and films should be restored.

It is very strange that Kareena Kapoor did not even get a nomination in Filmfare Awards 2012.

There was a time when filmfare awards had a lot to do with public sentiments. In 1964, the biggest blockbuster was Sangam. During that year the filmfare award for the best actress went to Vaijayantimala for Sangam. In the same year, Raj Kapoor won the filmfare award for the best director for his work in the film Sangam.

The days had changed. The meaning of awards had also changed. In 2011, the biggest blockbuster was Bodyguard. To everyone’s surprise Kareena Kapoor did not get even a nomination of best actress award in filmfare 2012. From 2009, Kareena Kapoor had featured in successful films opposite the superstars, Amir Khan in The Three Idiots, Salman Khan in Bodyguard and Shahrukh Khan in Ra One. Both Ra One and Bodyguard had been released in 2011, and the performance of Kareena Kapoor in both these films was per excellence. It is another case that Vidya Balan had given an excellent performance in the dirty picture and may be the biggest candidate for the best actress award. But if the competition is between Vidya Balan and Kareena Kapoor, it makes sense. But the competition is between performance in flop films like Mahie Gill in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster and Priyanka Chopra in Saat Khoon Maaf, it makes no sense.

The male category is a bit better. But the fight should be between Salman Khan in Bodyguard, Ajay Devgan in Singham and Shahrukh Khan in Don 2. Ranbir Kapoor had won the best actor award in Colourscreen, so may win the filmfare also.

The best music director nominees are horrible altogether. The film Ready became successful due to popular music of Pritam. Pritam did not get a nomination even. Same is with the case of Himesh Reshammiya in Bodyguard. It is very obvious that AR Rehman is going to win the award, as the nominations are absurt with candidates like Ram Sampat in Delhi Belly, Sohail Sen in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.It is even strange that the composer of popular music in film Bodyguard, Himesh Reshammiya never get any nomination. But the singer of the song of that composer gets a nomination, the example is Shreya Ghoshal in the song “teri meri” in the film Bodyguard. The chances are for Mohit Chouhan to win the award for the song “sada haq” in the film Rockstar.

Filmfare awards had lost the genuineness and transparency. It has become just any other awards. Gone were the days when Dilip Kumar winning the best actor award 8 times showed his supremacy over Raj Kapoor, or Shankar Jaikishan winning the best music director award 9 times showed his brilliance over Naushad Ali, Roshanlal Nagrath and others.

Good music was one of the reasons for the success of the film Bodyguard which did business worth 160 crores. If popular choice actors, actresses, singers, composers, don’t get any award, most of the awards look meaningless. Mohit Chauhan won the best male singer award for the song “phir se ud chala” in the film Rockstar, while Shreya Ghoshal won the best female singer award for the song “ooh lala ooh lala” in the film Dirty Picture.

Geetasri Roy caught the maximum number of lata fish. In the second round singer Monomoy asked them musical questions. The participants answered the questions in their own way. Monomoy sang the song “hoton se chulon tum”, and asked questions from the song. In the next round there were other questions relating to cookery, word-puzzles, etc. June Malia asked the actresses about the new turning points in their life in the serials. Tilottama Dutta said she was going to get married in the serial Kanakanjali. The question was with whom she was going to get married, Rupam or Manas. Sunil Shetty came to the city of Mumbai for education of her sister. But as Sunil Shetty did not fulfill the demands of the underworld group in the film, his sister was raped. Sunil Shetty filed a suit against all the members of the housing complex to make them aware of their responsibilities. All of them had scene the incident yet due to fear none of them raised any hue or cry. Namrata Shirodkar helped Sunil Shetty a lot in understanding the nature of people in Mumbai who were professionals and not as simple as rural people. Her friendship with Sunil Shetty was depicted well in the film. She even played a significant role in getting his sister admitted in a college in the neighbouring area. Sunil Shetty united the local people in their fight against the demands of the underworld and killed the suspected culprits. Namrata did her best in the film Vastav, opposite Sanjay Dutt. It was film totally based on the underworld people in Mumbai. Sanjay Dutt, who was a law-abiding citizen, killed one of the underworld person and from that time went on killing the other mafias and became an underworld don. But he also faced the agonies of living a life full of fear against the police. Namrata Shirodkar played the role of the wife of Sanjay Dutt in the film. She adjusted herself with the life led by Sanjay Dutt. Sanjay Dutt received filmfare award for his performance in the film. Namrata Shirodkar left films at a time when she was being given good offers and challenging roles by many bollywood directors and producers. The film was made with a budget of 45 crores. The main roles were given to Abhishek Bacchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vinod Khanna. There were supporting roles played by Bobby Deol, Omi Vaidya, Johnny Lever and Sikander Kher. The film had been related to theft of gold from a train in Russia. The hackers, the magicians and others’ help was required. Everyone contributed in the operation. But Neil Nitin Mukesh betrayed. He killed Bobby Deol. Bipasha Basu pretended to have been shot by Neil Nitin Mukesh, but later colluded with him. At the end Abhishek Bacchan identified them in New Zealand with the help of Sonam Kapoor, Sikander Kher and Omi Vaidya. Johnny Lever, a car maker helped them for getting cars made of different materials. Sonam Kapoor killed Neil Nitin Mukesh at the end of the film. The music of Pritam in the film had not been impressive. Excepting the song “dil yeh bekarar kyun hai” sung by Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal, none of the other songs impressed the viewers. Vinod Khanna lost weight, yet impressed with his performance. Bipasha Basu and Abhishek Bachhan did well. But Sonam Kapoor did not rise up to the occasion to match the stylish character. Abbas Mustan had given super hit films in the past like Soldier and Ajnabee with Bobby Deol. It was very surprising that this time he had underused Bobby Deol. Bobby Deol had always given quality performances in stylish roles. The other factor was that the operation was too technical. There are chances of the film doing well oversees. But the Indian audience had not adjusted themselves to too technical subject matter. The plot was good and the execution very stylish. Even after the great effort the film is likely to do moderate business.

She had to do play acting with Big B to convince Hema Malini that Big B was a bad person and marry Shatrughun Sinha. The film became extremely successful with powerful performance of Shatrughun Sinha, Rishi Kapoor and Hema Malini. The music of the film was extremely successful. Pran and Amzad Khan played key roles in negative characters. She was extremely successful in the multi-starrer film Jaani Dushman. Again she was cast opposite Shatrughun Sinha. In 2009, Deepika’s much awaited film Chandni Chowk To China was released in January. She had acted opposite superstar Akshay Kumar who had shown his action skills and comedy skills as well in the film. For the requirement of the film Deepika Padukone had learned martial art as well which was done by Priyanka Chopra in the past. But the film did mediocre business.

She died at the end of the film while fighting for the cause of Sunil Shetty. In fact she helped Sunil Shetty to learn urbanized style of living as he came from the hills and was uneducated.

She acted in completely different role opposite Shahrukh Khan in the film Duplicate. Shahrukh Khan played a double role in the film, one having an affair with Juhi Chawla while the other having an affair with Sonali Bendre. She acted opposite Shahrukh Khan who played the role of the smuggler. From the time the two characters interchanged Sonali Bendre expressed the astonishment in style. Her lips in the song “mere mehboob mere sanam” require special mention. Hollywood film Catacombs horrified everyone.

Hollywood film Catacombs created a very horrid experience for the viewers. The film had been directed by Tomm Coker and David Elliot. It was released in 2007.

In the film Shannyn Sossamon came to Paris, France on the invitation of her sister Pink (Alecia Moore). She entered a graveyard in Paris called Catacombs with her sister Pink and her friends and she did not even require entry fees to get in.

An introductory speech was given at the place by Mihai Stanescu. Shannyn was told that there was a killer called antichrist who killed everyone who got lost in the graveyard. She believed it. For the rest of the film she was encountered by horrifying images of skulls, human bones that were kept in open in the underground caves.

A man with a goat mask even chased her. After she faced the harassment, Alecia Moore told her that everything was planned to scare her. She got so irritated that she started killing each and every friend. She left the Catacombs with blood and went o Paris Airport. The film did good business. The film still has a huge horror appeal. The performance of Alecia Moore, Shannyn Sossamon and others were excellent.

Superstar Subhasree rocked Zee Bangla Mirakkel program.

Superstar Subhashree rocked Zee Bangla Mirakkel program. She was called by Mir Afsar Ali on 28^th December, 2011. She had acted in many successful films opposite Bengali superstar Deb.

Mir asked her to laugh and it was seen whenever any comedy item was presented she could not control her laughter. Fatik Purokayet, Istiaq Nasir and Palash Adhikari all performed together in the show. The judges Rajatavo Dutta, Srilekha Mitra and Paran Banerjee all appreciated them.

Sangeet Tiwary, Vicky and Partho were the other performers. Vicky and Partho acted with a new subject once again. Sangeet Tiwary was elegant in his presentation.

The best performer of the day was again Apurbo Roy. He came as a pick-pocket and told a story related to the struggle of a pick-pocket in becoming successful in different bused in Bengal. Subhashree was amazed at his performance.

Subhashree was asked why did she stopped acting for 2 years. She said she was looking for better story and better role. She made a comeback opposite Dev in the film Romeo. Presently she is also acting opposite Dev in the film Khokababu.
