<p style="text-align: left;">In the winter months you will probably workout less&#8230; unless you are a barbarian of course. Some of you are dedicated and you will probably stick it out during these months. But the real test is if you will still go to the gym when it snows.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Are you going to be a coward and run inside like a little girl?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Or are you going to stick it out like a barbarian ice warrior?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If your answer is the later, then read on.  I&#8217;ll share with you some innovative ways that you can build muscle when it snows while having fun at the same time. <img src='http://www.stayfitbug.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Grab a Shovel</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">When you wake up in the morning and see that the white cold powder has covered your entire local world, you will probably have to grab a shovel.  In general this is mundane and boring. But today it is not.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">When you grab that shovel you will now change your mind set, put your barbarian hat on and speak out loud.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8216;It is now time to workout out&#8217;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Get a friend or family member to join you too.  There&#8217;s nothing like the feeling you get from completing a task to satisfaction from great team work.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This will help you build great functional strength for your wrists, forearms and most other parts of your body. But don&#8217;t get too excited though. Make sure you shovel and lift properly; otherwise you might just cause an injury.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If you are trying loose fat then this is great for burning calories too.  Shovelling snow can help you burn up to a massive 300-500 calories within an hour, as long as you go at it like a barbarian. <img src='http://www.stayfitbug.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align: left;">During all of this, feel free to break the rules a little.  Take a break and have a&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Snow fight</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Some people might say that snow fights are for kids. Well I say that you should never grow up, be a kid at heart and start building and throwing those snow balls.  Build some huge balls and build some snow men too. Those balls will eventually get heavy and you will start to feel the exhaustion after a while.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This will prove to be a great strength workout for both you and your family. Although it will tire you out, you will definitely feel the fun factor.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">To end a good session get back indoors, relax your feet and sip on some hot chocolate, which also acts as a great antioxidant.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Skiing and Snowboarding</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I am a HUGE fan of snowboarding and have always followed winter X games since my pre-teens. Although both snowboarding and skiing can be great fun for yourself and/or family, the sport can also provide a great whole body workout.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">As you speed down the hill, your core will be worked from trying to balance your body as you shift from side to side.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Your arms and legs will be worked when you increase your speed.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">So if you are spending any time away from the gym and decide to go on one of these ski trips, just know that your body won&#8217;t be missing a thing. In fact, such a trip could help you awaken some muscles that you never know you had.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Go for a walk</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Walking is a low intensity workout, but walking in thick snow will be even more strenuous.  But this is more about taking a stroll and enjoying the scenery. Admiring the view and feel of the atmosphere after it has snowed is always something to behold.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This is all about innovative &#8216;fun&#8217; ways to build muscle. So do not force yourself to do these activities in any specific order. Just do as you please. Either way, they will all be a great way to keep your body active while you take a day off from the gym, which will probably be closed due to the snow any how.</p>

<p>Through out this site have often stated my dislike for supplements and steroids as i believe you can achieve great results with what nature has to offer. But that same former body builder i told you about in this post (<a title="Body Builder recommendation" href="http://www.stayfitbug.com/?p=424" target="_blank">Forearms</a>) is the one who introduced this to me.</p>
<p>At first i was very hesitant to even try it, but i have always lived by the rule &#8216;try anything once&#8217;, so i gave it a shot. I already knew what creatine does to the body, but i can say that trying this for a short while was great. I didn&#8217;t suffer any side effects that everyone usually goes on about and i think as long as you currently eat healthy and train regularly you&#8217;ll be just fine. There is no one great life changing product out there, not even this does that, but you will notice an increase in strength and muscle mass when you use it.</p>
<p>I guess this is good for all of those readers here that are like me and usually do not touch this stuff. If that is you, I&#8217;d try it once at least. And for any body building types reading this then you already know what to do. Have fun with it but be moderate,.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.maximuscle.com/research/creatine.html">Creatine</a> is a substance that is processed by the liver from three amino acids called methionine, arginine, and glycine. Creatine then becomes the main source of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) that is considered to be the fuel source of muscles.<br />
Ninety-five percent of all creatine in the body is stored in the muscles, while the rest goes to other body parts. In normal living and work out conditions, the creatine supplied by the human body and diet would be enough. In exceptional cases of people who wish to see the results of their workout faster and to enjoy a more intensive workout, creatine supplements are necessary.<br />

What Is Creatine Monohydrate?</strong></p>
<p>Creatine supplements are manufactured in different chemical formulations. The resultant products are combined formulas of creatine molecules and other molecules such as water, phosphates, citrate, and even malic acid. Creatine monohydrate is a combination of water and creatine with a high percentage of creatine, almost 88% in average products. </p>
<p><strong>Benefits of Creatine Monohydrate</strong></p>
<p>Creatine monohydrate has the advantage of containing high amounts of creatine. In combination with water, it allows the substance to increase the intensity of workouts, to provide more energy and thus make workouts stronger, allows muscles to be built up looking fuller and larger, and to allow the muscles to recover faster from high performance workouts.</p>
<p><strong>Creatine Monohydrate Myths</strong></p>
<p>Although creatine is a naturally occurring substance in the body, people often associate it with negative effects or even steroids. Creatine supplements are only providing more energy to the muscles to be consumed during training sessions. </p>
<p>Creatine cannot build muscles unless it is processed into ATP and used to fuel muscles in workouts. Therefore, there is no point in taking creatine unless you intend to work out. Naturally, if you do not work out, creatine monohydrate will simply be eliminated from the body, possibly putting a strain on your liver.</p>

<p>Explosion?</p>
<p><em>I thought those things only happen in wars and stuff?</em></p>
<p>Yes they do. But I&#8217;m talking about building muscle here.</p>
<p>You see&#8230; Whether you are new to building muscle or not. You would have experienced an explosive initial growth when you first lifted a dumbbell.</p>
<h1><em>&#8216;You broke your muscle building virginity&#8217;</em></h1>
<p><em><br />
</em></p>
<p>You know the feeling right?</p>
<ul>
<li>Sore for the first 7-10 days</li>
<li>Muscles feeling tense (You actually think you have grown because of how you feel, when you&#8217;ve actually probably shrunk)</li>
</ul>
<p>Of course you know the feeling. And it&#8217;s great! And then you actually notice muscles that pop out that you didn&#8217;t even think existed. You begin to feel like one of these guys&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.stayfitbug.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4254" title="transformers" src="http://www.stayfitbug.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-300x212.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="212" /></a></p>
<p>Literally!</p>
<p>Keep this up for 30 days and building <a href="http://www.stayfitbug.com/the-fitness-bug/build-14lbs-of-muscle-every-single-month/" target="_blank">14lbs or more of muscle mass</a> is highly achievable and highly probable. So I guess what I said in <a href="http://www.stayfitbug.com/the-fitness-bug/build-14lbs-of-muscle-every-single-month/" target="_blank">this post</a> is reality&#8230; for the short term at least.</p>
<p>In my view, this is the best feeling you&#8217;ll EVER get throughout your fitness and bodybuilding life. Mainly because it&#8217;s a new and fresh experience for you. There really is nothing quite like your first time. <img src='http://www.stayfitbug.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>However, it won&#8217;t take long until that inital honey moon period is over. Just like a male/female relationship&#8230; give it 3 months, and you&#8217;ll find that the happy fun period suddenly becomes less fun. And then problems arise. And in the case of building muscle?</p>
<ol>
<li>- You can&#8217;t seem to progress and lift any heavier weight</li>
<li>- You may even notice that your muscles start to shrink</li>
<li>- You get frustrated and get demotivated</li>
<li>- You look the same year after year!</li>
</ol>
<p>With that being the case, it&#8217;s time that you refocus your mindset for your next workout. Because all the above points really are not cool.</p>
<h1><em>The refocus</em></h1>
<p><em><br />
</em></p>
<h3><em>#1  You can&#8217;t seem to progress and lift any heavier weight</em></h3>
<p><em><br />
</em></p>
<p>This is the most common scenario in the gym. People lifting weights month after month, year after year, without seeing any real progress in both strength and size gains. This happens because of one main reason.</p>
<h1><em>&#8216;Because you are trying to gain too quickly&#8217;</em></h1>
<p><em><br />
</em></p>
<p>Like I&#8217;ve said <a href="http://www.stayfitbug.com/the-fitness-bug/muscle-building-is-a-lifestyle-not-just-to-become-a-meathead-lifter-build-the-full-package/" target="_blank">once before</a>. The main reason you want to gain quickly is because of your ego. Maybe to impress the ladies. Who knows. But quit it already. Just like a male/female relationship, once that honeymoon period is over, you&#8217;re going to have to work at that relationship to keep it fresh. To keep it from going stale.</p>
<p>The same thing you need to do with your muscles!</p>
<p>The only thing you should be doing is focusing on slow growth and steady progress. For two main reasons&#8230;</p>
<ol>
<li>It&#8217;s the only way you&#8217;ll actually grow</li>
<li>It&#8217;s the only way to gauge and understand what is working/ not working for your body</li>
</ol>
<p>Hence the title of this post<strong><em> &#8216;Real tweaks happen after the explosion&#8217;.</em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>You may have bulked quickly (Honeymoon period) and gained some extra stomach fat. <span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Maybe cut carbs and increase protein intake</strong></span></li>
<li>Your bench press gains may have flattened some what. <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">Maybe switched things up and perform more pull ups and barbell rows for assistance</span></strong></li>
<li><strong>(#2) </strong>Your muscles have shrunk!<span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong> More sleep? Add a deload week? Take a month off working out? Shorter workout period? Less exercise?</strong></span></li>
</ul>
<p>That list could go on and on and on. I will be covering many of these causes and more shortly, and whatever your cause is, you&#8217;ll have a solution.</p>
<h3><em>#3 You get frustrated and get demotivated</em></h3>
<p>The only reason this happens is because you have seen a lack of real progress. It&#8217;s natural. But one thing you have to understand here is that this WILL happen. It&#8217;s just a question of when?</p>
<p>When it does happen, all you need to do is STOP! And go back to the drawing board. Find out what your &#8216;today&#8217; One Rep Max&#8217;s are and start over (This is what you base your future reps/sets/weights on you see). Refresh and start the honeymoon period all over again. Obviously it won&#8217;t be the same like the first time around&#8230; it never is. But utilizing this method to progress will work for years to come. How do you think people manage to stay married for so long? They work at it, change things up, refresh and recycle. And you will do the same.</p>
<h3>#4 You look the same year after year!</h3>
<p>This is a problem that I&#8217;ll soon fix for you all. Because what&#8217;s the point of looking like everyone else and your former self year after year. That&#8217;s what happens to 90% of gym goers. The main thing you need to do here is take a maximum of 1 year to build the body of your dreams (Easily done&#8230; no excuses here) and then maintain and tweak your results over the 2nd year. That&#8217;s the short version of your fitness plan. Follow that methodology and you certainly won&#8217;t look the same year after year. And you&#8217;ll probably be inspired to take up some kind of career in fitness at this point. Heck&#8230;. you&#8217;ll probably get approached by some industry guy/gal to become a spokesperson/fitness competitor. But like I said, this is just the short version&#8230; for now.</p>
<p>Now&#8230; I am still working on the early version of &#8216;the solution&#8217; for all of you&#8230; and I&#8217;m keeping the theme of the program Stayfitbug style&#8230; as that&#8217;s what &#8216;I&#8217; know most of you like and are used to on this site (More info coming up shortly). However, over the weekend, I watched a video by nutritionist <strong><em>Kyle Leon</em></strong>&#8230; and I do like the focus of his program, on being &#8216;diet precise&#8217;. Although not for everyone, and something I actually won&#8217;t be pushing forward too much (Initially at least &#8211; as I don&#8217;t think this is the most important thing you need to do to enhance your fitness lifestyle) I think the video is worth a watch, because what he says does make sense. <p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 13.0px 0.0px; line-height: 19.0px; font: 13.0px Tahoma;">When i started to go to the gym back in the 90&#8242;s as a teen, the first thing i thought was &#8216; I&#8217;m 16 now&#8230; i know results take time, but in 2 years i&#8217;m gonna be huuuge!&#8217;. 10 years later and i am just a maintained size of what i achieved in the first 3 months since 16 years old. As i have previously mentioned, life and all the crazy things it throws at you just make it a certainty that it won&#8217;t be a straight forward path to building and maintaining a great physique. After a while that just becomes the norm and after a few years of training, there is only just one thing that really stops you from training. Injury from bad exercise technique.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 13.0px 0.0px; line-height: 19.0px; font: 13.0px Tahoma;">The gym is a great place to meet and learn from like minded people for sure. But there are many who go to the gym solo, do there work out and believe they are executing there exercises correct 100% of the time. They may not be great communicators or good at asking others for help. Because of this  they tend to just keep going and going, then before they know it they start to get problems. (Prevention is better than detection folks)</p>

<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Aerobic exercise on a treadmill  provides an array of health benefits, including promoting  weight  loss and cardiovascular health, increased energy, and an elevated mood.  An often overlooked benefit of owning a treadmill, however, is its convenience.  Having a treadmill at home won&#8217;t just make your life easier, it will  help you stick to an exercise routine, maintain your motivation, and  avoid the tempting excuses not to exercise.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">A standard excuse for not exercising  is the time required for getting to the gym. There&#8217;s either not enough  time to get there, or there are perpetual scheduling conflicts between  your obligations and the gym&#8217;s hours of operation. Owning a treadmill  allows you the flexibility to get a great aerobic workout, whether it&#8217;s  walking, brisk walking, or jogging, at your convenience. You can even  get these activities in after dark in the safety of your own home, when  you might otherwise be uncomfortable out and about by yourself.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Then there&#8217;s the weather. Another  favorite excuse for skipping the cardio exercise. Who wants to take  a walk in a torrential downpour? Many people cease all outdoor activity  in the winter, when low temperatures make it too unpleasant to be outside.  Winter also brings the dangers of falling on ice, from sprained ankles  to broken bones. People are also more likely to stay inside during the  summer; excessive heat is demotivating, and there are risks of heatstroke  and dehydration. Owning a treadmill for use in your temperature-controlled  atmosphere makes year-round exercise far more appealing, putting an  end to extended periods of inactivity that can take a toll on your health  and undo all the hard work you put in during more permissive weather.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Privacy is another convenient  aspect to owning your own treadmill. Many people are uncomfortable exercising  in public, be it on the streets or in a gym. A lack of privacy can be  very discouraging, especially to people just getting started on an exercise  program or who are significantly overweight. Self-consciousness or embarrassment  can&#8217;t be an excuse to skip the exercise when you have a treadmill in  your home.</span></p>

These often display the rate  you&#8217;re moving, the distance traveled, the angle of inclination, your  heart rate, the time elapsed, and how many calories you&#8217;ve burned. This  information, much of which most walkers and joggers don&#8217;t have access  to, is both helpful and motivating.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Also consider the safety of  using a treadmill in your home. With a treadmill, there&#8217;s almost no  worry about falls, scraped knees, sprained ankles, and other injuries  that can occur while walking or running outside. The outdoors isn&#8217;t  ideal for these activities, as uneven terrain, a raised sidewalk, a  stick, rock, or any number of things can easily lead to injuries. You  won&#8217;t have to worry about dodging traffic in your home, either. In addition,  a treadmill&#8217;s padded surface is much easier on your joints than pavement.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">The convenience of owning a  treadmill will make your life easier. However, that&#8217;s not the most important  benefit you&#8217;ll get from having a treadmill in your home. You&#8217;ll find  you don&#8217;t have all those easy excuses to skip exercise anymore. This  means more consistent workouts, better results, a better quality of  life, and better health.</span></p>
