<p>Gym owner Leanne Monaghan, Acton’s trusted fitness guru, has teamed up with Bridgitte’s Giddy YoYo Chocolate to add a new dimension to this year’s Yoga in the Park.  Each participant will be given a piece of chocolate before class to set the mood for Yoga. This is no ordinary chocolate…Giddy YoYo’s chocolate is a <strong>SUPERFOOD</strong> and is<strong> Certified Organic</strong>.  It’s free of gluten, peanuts, dairy, soy, refined sugar and all other nasty funk! How fun is that?</p>
<p>Now in its 9<sup>th</sup> year Yoga in the Park has become a summertime institution, encouraging <strong>EVERY BODY</strong> to try something new in a safe  environment and get back to nature. <strong> ALL FITNESS LEVELS WELCOME!</strong></p>
<p>The event adds a ‘feel-good’ vibe not only to Acton’s line up of summer events, but to the community itself.  With the venue set for Prospect Park, those in attendance can expect a relaxing yoga session surrounded by trees, water and <strong>CHOCOLATE</strong>, guided by yoga instructor Leanne Monaghan and a few guest yoga instructors.</p>
<p>This is a free community event thanks to our <u>many generous local sponsors</u>.  A non-perishable food item, or monetary donation will be accepted during the event to support the Acton Food Share, Links2Care and the CRC (Concerned Residents Coalition fighting the Hidden Quarry)</p>

<p>This is a charitable event and as in previous years we ask that you please bring a cash and/or food donation.</p>
<p>Thursdays from 7 to 8 pm starting July 6th with our last session on August 10th . (registration will be at 6:30pm)</p>
<p>We will meet you at the band shell at Prospect Park, you can bring your own mats or we have a limited amount for a rental fee.</p>
<p>This is an event for every BODY!</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hello All, the good weather is here and with that comes more time outside. Staying Alive Fitness will be hosting a Learn to Run Clinic Tuesday and Thursday nights starting May 23rd. This is a clinic for every &#8220;body&#8221;!</p>
<p>We will be running on Tuesdays at 7:30pm and on Thursdays we will have a guest speaker at our facility at 6:30pm and then our run will follow at 7:00pm. This is a 10 week program and goal is to work ourselves up to a 5K run. The cost for this program is $80 +HST which includes a 10 Week Full Use Membership at Staying Alive Fitness.</p>
<p>So all of that being said &#8211; come join us and Learn to Run!</p>

<p>To all of you new moms out there if you&#8217;re having trouble fitting exercise into your routine have we got the solution for you!</p>
<p>Starting on May 18th at 2:00pm we are introducing Mommy and Baby Fitness to our class schedule. The workouts are designed to help re-energize, destress, tone and love you post-pardum body in a safe environment! Small class sizes offered to ensure each mom gets well deserved attention. This is baby friendly space where mom can workout but also tend to baby&#8217;s needs.</p>
<p>Cost per class is $10.00 +HST or you can purchase a pack of 10 classes for $90.00 +HST.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is why I thought Leanne Monaghan’s event “Cooking your way to a Healthy Lifestyle” was a massive success. Not because she showed how to cook healthy meals, because frankly anyone can do that but because she told the truth on how to make things taste good and how to get the most value out of your food!</p>
<p>“Hale to the Kale!” said Leanne with a smile. But more importantly was the part where she admitted to the crowd that she didn’t actually like kale. My attention perked up more as many people can quote eating vegetables but not everyone tells you the truth – sometimes it just tastes like gr…ass.</p>
<p>Thirty people gathered around as Leanne showed us tips and tricks that would keep us healthier for the holidays – but really all year round. The session was packed with info and recipes but here are the three tips that changed how I’m going to be eating!</p>
<p><strong>Tip 1:</strong> Organic when you can.</p>
<p>If you can invest a bit of extra money on organics then her top picks are to buy organic lemons, organic greens and organic chicken or beef stock. Lemons and lettuce are heavily sprayed and you don’t need to ingest insecticides. And the reason for stocks being organic is that you are basically extracting everything from the animal – so make sure you aren’t extracting the “junk” too. I’m pretty sure that she just chose the word junk so that she didn’t have to go down the path of what happens on mass production farms (thank-you Leanne!).</p>
<p><strong>Tip 2:</strong> Smoothie Tricks!</p>
<p>Leanne recommends Dino kale or baby kale as her favourite types of kale. And best of all she tells you how to bury the taste in your smoothie! The trick she says is to use frozen pineapple and mango. She also recommends Sun Warrior Protein Powder. The other excellent tip she gave us – put your extras into a mason jar. That way you can just shake it up when you want to have your next smoothie. She also promotes using Coconut water – and to my delight she admits to not liking that either!</p>
<p>Leanne’s smoothie recipe:</p>
<p>-handful of kale<br />
-splash of coconut water<br />
-a quarter inch of fresh ginger<br />
-a dash of cinnamon<br />
-1 scoop of protein powder<br />
&#8211; ½ cup of frozen pineapple<br />
-1/4 cup of frozen mango</p>
<p>* Your smoothie is a also good time to add in your healthy fat – Leanne recommends Udos 3-6-9</p>
<p>And use regular water to thin your smoothie to the consistency you prefer.</p>
<p><strong>Tip 3:</strong> Take care of your greens!</p>
<p>You know that drawer of veggies you have that is starting to wilt? Don’t worry they don’t have to get dumped. Leanne recommends spritzing greens with lemon juice. I tried it – it works! Your greens come back to life in just a few minutes. She also suggests wrapping the stems with wet paper towel.</p>
<p>She offered a great suggestion about your salad dressing – keep it clean and make extra so that you have it easily available.</p>
<p>Here is her easy recipe:</p>
<p>Equal parts; honey (local is best), olive oil and vinegar. Then just a tiny dollop of high quality mustard</p>
<p>Admittedly, I will not be an advertisement of healthy living quite yet. But one thing I love about the advice and tips that Leanne offers is that she makes them very digestible. And there is nothing like having someone “Walk the Walk” and not just “Talk the Talk”. Leanne in action is an amazing role model for women. She is over fifty and looks like she is in her thirties. What I know for sure</p>

<p>An accountability partner is someone you choose that will help you reach your goals, whatever they may be. I want to help you reach your health and wellness goals that is what this program is all about!</p>
<p>This is a <strong>free</strong> and optional program but if you are someone who needs a little extra motivation getting to the gym or during your workouts or just someone to help you along the way this is the program for you.</p>
<p>The big question is how do I stay accountable?</p>
<p>For this program to work there are many tools in my belt:</p>

<li>Meetings to set Goals</li>
<li>Weekly Weigh Ins</li>
<li>Monthly Measuring</li>
