The Ajax Class Frigate is a multi-purpose frigate designed to deliver ordnance against ships, fighters and ground targets. They are equipped with sophisticated command and control centres to act as flagships for system patrol fleets.

Equipped with a heavy arsenal of weapons, it is at its best when acting in concert with the Spartan Light Carrier. They are capable of defending it from enemy fighter attacks with their Laser Emitters, or destroying starships from a distance with missile launchers, or up close with its powerful Laser Cannon.

As befits its role it has two Cyclops allowing it to patrol much larger areas of space than one ship would normally be able to cover. They provide it with a dedicated recon solution, they can assist the local star fighter garrison in combat by providing targeting support and they can provide a localised command presence.

The Legions initially scorned the concept of a self propelled artillery piece. In the Tarragin Crusades they could always count on the fire support from orbiting star ships, fighters or massed rocket batteries kept well behind the lines. However, after many Legionnaires struggled to get fire support due to late or inadequate resource allocation, a decision was made to provide them with a mobile source of heavy fire support. After 7 years of development, M&M industries came up with the Peltast. A small quantity were made and employed against the Tarragin with great success. Later they were modified to be powerful enough to penetrate a Khazari kinetic barrier. They proved their worth in the Krondal IV campaign when Khazari AA proved to be impenetrable and star fighters were relegated to orbital patrol duties. Whilst they were unable to evade detection from Khazari counter battery fire, they proved hardy enough to suppress the Khazari forces and give the Legions the breakthrough they required. They are now a permanent fixture in the Legion’s motor pool.

Whilst the Shadow Knights are the most famous bounty hunters, they are only some of the forces used by the Guild in battle. The independents often lack the equipment and training of the Shadow Knights but they are skilled fighters with many years experience. They make perfect scouts for the Legions, often possessing a local knowledge that makes them extremely valuable – and of course they are considerably cheaper than the BaraDyne Institute rates. Usually equipped with Sniper Rifles or extended range Laser Rifles they are well suited to dealing with enemy forces from a distance. For close up work they’ll use a variety of death dealing weapons including conventional, laser, and in very rare cases, plasma weapons.
