Former Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Hank Fraley canceled his scheduled visit with the Kansas City Chiefs and has agreed to a deal with the St. Louis Rams, according to his agent. Fraley’s agent, Ralph Cindrich, announced the deal on his Twitter account. Fraley was drawing interest from the Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers, but chose the Rams after what Cindrich terms an excellent visit.

The team acquired QB Seneca Wallace this past week from the Seahawks, but he won’t be the starter in all likely hood, it’ll be former Panthers QB Jake Delhomme, who was let go on Friday March 5th by the Panthers. The Browns are giving Delhomme a two-year deal that will pay him at least $7 mil, meaning that Delhomme will make a for sure $19.5 mil between the Browns and Panthers this year. Gesh!

Most of Ben Roethlisberger’s ill-fated party weekend was thoroughly planned out weeks in advance — minus the whole alleged sexual assault part — and TMZ has learned the festivities even had a name … “Ben-a-Palooza.” The Palooza is a tradition that Ben and his pals have put together for the past several years — in which the Steelers quarterback and a group of his friends celebrate Ben’s birthday together. This year, Ben-a-Palooza began at Roethlisberger’s home near Pittsburgh, where the group boarded a party bus bound for Ben’s lake house in Georgia and when they arrived, several members spent one of the nights on a bar crawl in Milledgeville — where Ben was later accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman in a nightclub bathroom.

Free Agent linebacker Larry Foote will visit the Steelers offices Monday and, if he passes a physical, could reach an agreement to rejoin his former team, the Post-Gazette has learned. Foote, who left the Steelers after the 2008 season to play with one year with the Detroit Lions, visited with the Arizona Cardinals yesterday and the Washington Redskins on Tuesday without agreeing to a contract. Foote would be a backup with the Steelers, but he would also give them more flexibility at the linebacker position in case of injury at outside linebacker.

Questions of credibility, consent and science likely are guiding Georgia authorities as they investigate a sex assault allegation against Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, lawyers and police say. Investigators requested a DNA sample from Roethlisberger, although they did not say what kind of evidence they collected to which it could be compared. In Pittsburgh, results of DNA testing can take six to eight weeks on average, said Downtown criminal defense attorney Bill Difenderfer. “DNA has been nothing short of a revolution in cases of sex assault allegations,” said University of Pittsburgh law professor David Harris. “They can prove that there was activity between two people, if there is any question of the person being accused not being the right one.”

Ben Roethlisberger just added another elite member to his defense team — a famous private investigator who’s handled several high profile celebrity cases before.

TMZ has learned the P.I. is Charles Mittelstadt – who has worked as a lead investigator on behalf of NFL stars like Ray Lewis and Jamal Lewis. Mittelstadt has also worked for rapper T.I. and convicted Olympic bomber Eric Rudolph.

Hiring a private investigator is a sign that the alleged victim is fair game. In this case, as we already reported, law enforcement tells us alcohol was a factor.

It’s a safe bet the P.I. will go down that road … as well as others.

Here’s a rarity — the Steelers expressing interest in a lineman released by the Browns.

Agent Ralph Cindrich wrote on his Twitter account that the Steelers have called about Hank Fraley, who was cut by the Browns last week. Cindrich said there is no visit planned as yet.

Fraley would love to end up in Pittsburgh, where his NFL career started. After playing left tackle at Robert Morris College, Fraley was groomed in one week as a center to increase his NFL marketability. The Steelers signed him as an undrafted free agent. He played all four exhibition games but was released at the final cut.

He would add depth to the O-line. He played with the Eagles and the Browns, but was released last week to open the door for the Browns first-round pick from last season, Alex Mack. So what do you think, is Fraley worth it to add to this roster?

As it turns out, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was palling around in Milledgeville, Georgia not only with two off-duty cops from Pennsylvania but also with an on-duty officer who would later investigating the charge of sexual assault.

According to the Milledgeville Union-Recorder, Sgt. Jerry Blash posed for photos with Roethlisberger earlier in the evening, both alone and with a group of other officers. “The photographs did not and have not affected the investigation at all,” Police Chief Woodrow Blue told the Union-Recorder.

The Steelers drafted wide receiver Limas Sweed two picks ahead of Rutgers running back Ray Rice in 2008, who has become a star with the Baltimore Ravens and two years later, after the additions of Antwaan Randle El and Arnaz Battle, there doesn’t appear to be a roster spot for him. Sweed left the Steelers in December with what coach Mike Tomlin described as “personal issues.” Management still hasn’t elaborated, leading to much speculation that Sweed was battling severe depression.

L.C. Greenwood was maybe the quietest member of the Steelers famed “Steel Curtain,” but in a way – he was also the loudest. He and John “Frenchy” Fuqua would show off their style on Friday’s in the locker room during the Steelers glory years of the 70’s, showing off their latest fashions. Greenwood, who was known for wearing bell bottoms, funky hats, and even capes, would always win. But his flamboyant style off the field said little about how good Greenwood was as a player on it.

And just about every Sunday Greenwood played clean. He likely won’t ever find his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, this despite being a finalist in 2006, but his fashion sense and gold shoes will forever go down in Steelers history.
