That's right the allslayer has returned! I decided to make a more fluff oriented but still competitive army list for my wolves.

The guys at my LGS do 2k games more ... fine by me. So here's my new 2000 point Space Wolves army list led by Ragnar Blackmane himself! You'll notice I give my other HQ models and my Wolf Guard models names. Helps to keep track of the units as well as you will see by the unit name which wolf guard is fighting with them.

Ragnar will deploy with Grey Hunter Squad Fangfist in a drop pod. Skjold Stormcrusher will deploy with Grey Hunter squad Longtooth in a drop pod, and Bulverk Nightclaw will deploy with Blood Claw squad Razorfang in a drop pod.

Like I said earlier, the squads that have a name are named after the Wolf Guard attached to them. The grey hunters in the rhino and Long Fang squad Krakenfist deploy on the board while all the rest are in drop pods or outflanking (scout squad)

I wanted an overall fluff list. I may pick up another drop pod and put the 10-man Grey Hunter squad in that instead of a rhino.

I'm hoping to play test the list sometime in the next week or so. I'll post with results and maybe some pics!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile I've been swamped with holiday tasks. I just wanted to say Happy New Year to all my friends and followers of my blog. This year should see me finish up my Space Wolves including some pre-heresy models to go along with Leman Russ into Battle! Maybe I'll even start working on my empire army for WHFB! Who knows. More Desert Scenery

Last week I picked up the Imperial Sector boxed set of buildings to make some new scenery for my desert table I've been gaming on. It's much more fun than playing out in the wastes with just hills and mesas. So I got it home and started assembling some buildings. I really liked some of the ones that were in the battle reports in this month's White Dwarf. So looked at them for some inspiration. After assembling and gluing them to a hardboard base I decided to clip up a bunch of the sprue the buildings came on and glue it down around the base of the buildings for rubble. Then just glued some sand to the base and on top of the sprue.

Next up was to primer and paint the buildings. Also I found my last piece of moonscape so figured I'd do up a crater for this table as well. I primed them all black and got out my gw spray gun and sprayed a coat of vermin brown onto my new structures. Next up I did an overbrush of Tausept Ochre and finished off with a drybrush of bleached bone. As you can see in the pics, they came out nicely.

I figured while I was at it I'd also assemble and paint my Honoured Imperium set. So I assembled everything and primed it up and painted the broken aquilla and the ruined piece of building to match the other scenery for the desert table. I figured I'd use the Space Marine statue on various tables so went with a bronze color for it and a cement color for the base. So first up was a coat of tin bitz on the statue and an overbrush of codex grey on the base. Next I did a drybrush of dwarf bronze on the statue and a drybrush of graveyard earth on the base. Finally I finished off the base with a drybrush of bleached bone. For the statue I did a drybrush of shining gold. Now I could have stopped here but wanted it to look weathered and old so I decided to give it some oxidation by doing a wash of hawk turquoise mixed with a touch of snot green and some of the old gw green wash (from like 98) as I couldn't seem to find my thraka green wash. After diluting all this with water I went about adding wash into recesses on the status and around rivets, etc. As you can see in the pic, I think it came out rather well.

New Land Raider Achilles

Those lance weapons make you want to stop taking a land raider in your army list? Well here's the answer... The Land Raider Achilles! It's gonna give you 4 models less transport capabnility (6 models), and loses its assault ramp, so only has doors on the sides, but boasts twin-linked multi-meltas on the sponsons and a hull-mounted thunderfire cannon! Thanks to its Feromantic Invulnerability lance weapons don't do their dirty deed against it and melta weapons don't get their plus one at all. As a matter of fact it reduces the damage result by 1. So it will never explode unless hit with a strength "D" weapon!

Finally, a way Space Wolves can take a thunderfire cannon! Check it out:

Space Wolves vs Orks and vs Chaos

So I played two games today. I finally took on Matt's orks and then This evening took on Duane's Word Bearers.

So Matt and I finally got together at the GW White Marsh store for a game of 40k today. 2000 points. I have been playing my new 2k list. Matt brought out a TON of boyz. I think overall he had like 200 or so models on the table! he had like 6 - 30 boy mobz plus some support. we played a pitched battle set up with the mission being annihilation.

Of course This was a tall order for me to be able to win. Though gave it my best but in the end, I just couldn't take out enough boyz before he wiped me off the table.

Then this evening I took on Duane's Word Bearer Chaos marines list! his list contained 2 15-man marine squads with icon bearers, a defiler, vindicator, 3 lesser demon squads, 1 demon prince, a greater demon, and a lord and squad in terminator armor.

Well we decided to play seize ground and 12" pitched battle. Duane rolled higher then me and decided he would let me go first... BAD IDEA! I wound up winning the game with some highlights being one mark of the wolfen model being turned into a spawn, all 3 squads of lesser demons being destroyed in hand-to-hand combat, and the DP being destroyed after 3 full turns of hand-to-hand. In the end I had one objective of 3 and the foul forces of chaos were whittled down to a small threat. It was nice to get a win! Next time I hope Duane won't let his opponent go first when he rolls higher! Will be playing more games with my new 2k list. It seems to be doing well overall.

So I open my door this morning and what is sitting on my doorstep? A box the FedEx guy left from Battlefoam! My Pack 720 finally arrived! My wife, Nancy, bought it for me back in May as a birthday gift. First the hold up was that I decided to commission Dave Taylor to build and paint me a Leman Russ Primarch model. So I wanted to have a spot in the case for him. So had to wait for Dave to finish building him so he could give me a pic so I could have a trace to send them. So once I received the pic and sent them my load out, including traces for characters and other models that wouldn't fit in a standard troop slot in the case, I received an email saying they were out of the cases themselves and I would have to wait until November. This was back in September.

So here it is, first weekend in November and I received the case! I'm excited. Just look at all the spots for models! The 720 gives you 12" of foam for your minis. You can either go with their standard foam pieces or do some custom layouts or both. I did both. Now my WHOLE Space Wolves army fits in one case (except for my drop pods, I'll be ordering a GW case custom foam for them.) So now back to painting my Wolves and onto playing more games with them!

New 2000 Point List

Most of the games played at my FLGS are averaging 2k nowadays. So I figured I'd try to put a new list together to try to get in some wins. The list is very troop heavy. It fits the fluff for Ragnar's company, as I'm dropping in 3 squads in Drop Pods. I also decided to run 3 rune priests in the army. Well, I only had 2... The actual GW model that I painted last year and the one I made from a chaos warrior using the tutorial on the Space Wolves blog. So I decided to make another for the list.

I used a WHFB Chaos warrior once again. I also used some ideas Dave Taylor did on the Leman Russ model I commissioned him to make. Here are pics of the new Rune Priest. I still have to prime and paint him.

More Throne of Skulls

Well, the game against bill's blood angels went very poorly for me. He almost tabled me at the end of turn 5. Ragnar and his wolf guard in their land raider crusader were still alive and that was it. Bill ended up with over 2400 victory points from me. While I ended up with about a thousand or so.

Tomorrow I'll be taking on Charles' great devourer army list. That's right, Space Wolves vs Nids! We'll see how it goes. As most of you on here know, nids are my other army I play for 40k. So hopefully it will give me the insight i need to defeat this xenos threat!

Charles and Jason played in a game for the tournament and charles defeated Jason's chaos army through the luck or should I say bad luck of dice rolling more than anything. Poor Jason was rolling pretty badly. Also Another great battle for the tournament I saw at the store tonight was Jank's necrons vs John's nids. Some very cool stuff there!

We'll see how I do tomorrow. Hopefully much better than the other day!

Blood Angels VS Space Wolves

Well, once again Bill has come out victorious. Though this time it was a pretty even fight... just came down to some bad rolls. Each turn one of us was pounding on the other. But in the thick of it all it turns out we missed a few of the rules for the tournament and will have to have a rematch. So this just turned out to be a warm up battle.

It was probably the closest game we've had in over ten years. So sometime within the next week we'll go at it again. Will post the results after it's done.

Other upcoming battles... My wolves vs Rich's Khorne army and a friendly 2k game with Matt's ork horde and possibly Mike's marines.

Throne of Skulls List

So the game is on for Sunday! Bill will be bringing his Blood Angels to take on my Space Wolves. It's Rise of the Lycans 2010 lol. I'm sure he'll have plenty of Death Company and dreads, deep striking landraiders, and fast rhino chasis tanks. Not to mention some drop pods and terminators to go along with his special characters (astorath, etc.)

We get to add one extra elite, fast attack, or heavy choice and it's a 3200 point game. So here's what I put together...

10-man Wolf Guard Pack (LR Crusader as a dedicated transport)

All said and done it came out to 3200 points EXACTLY! I still have to put another vindicator together for the game.

So we'll see how the game goes on Sunday. Hopefully triple ten (10-10-2010) will be a good day for the wolves!

And So It Begins!

Halloween is coming up and my local GW store is having a Throne Of Skulls tournament this month. Play 3 games 3200 points each and best score wins the trophy. So this Sunday, in the spirit of the season, I'll be playing against Bill and his Blood Angels with my Space Wolves! It's "Rise of the Lycans" all over again!

Knowing Bill he'll have plenty of Death Company, Dreadnoughts, and Deep Striking Land Raiders. Not to mention his Drop pods, Termies, and fast moving Rhino variants (predator, vindicator, etc.) So I am gonna have to put together a good list to try to take out the blood suckers and get myself closer to that trophy. Will post a list once I get things together.

Leman Russ Primarch Model

ok, Dave Taylor is awesome as usual. I commissioned him to build and paint a Leman Russ primarch model for my Space Wolves army. While my conversion skills aren't bad, we all know Dave is the man. Here are a few pics of the model. He's one and a half times as tall as a normal power armored marine! That's a 40mm base he's on!

He gave me all the features I wanted including the tankard on his belt (fits in with the fluff) and he's based the way I'm doing my army (on stone over lava.) So am VERY please with how he came out!

I'm back to working on my Space Wolves army and should have more pics and updates coming soon! Have a game coming up vs my friend, Bill's Blood Angels. Should be fun. Will post pics after the battle. Bill and I are also talkin bout an apoc game (his orks vs my wolves) in the near future... Russ will return from the warp along with some pre-heresy bodyguard and Freki and Geri! It's sure to be cool!

So, thanks to adam's article over at Space Wolves Grey, I was able to convert up another rune priest. Except I used a lil green stuff to add more fur instead of the loin cloth looking parchment. I didn't want the same model as the one I already had. So using some chaos warrior torsos and space wolves parts I was able to put together my own rune priest. Was pretty easy overall. Now back to painting my army to get ready for the GW in-store tournament beginning at the end of May. I have a whole 1750 point army to paint up!

Wolves Underway

ok so I just got married last night... My wife is awesome and is supportive in the hobby. So will not be posting next week as I'll be on my honeymoon.

That being said, I finally finished assembling the last piece i needed for my tournament army... My Land Raider Crusader. I used some of the etched brass you can get from forge world as well as some bits from the wolf guard terminator sprues. It turned out pretty decent.

Now to paint the whole 1750 point army! Look for more pics and posts in a couple weeks. So i'm off to the caribbean for sun and fun with my new wife!

New 1750 Space Wolves List

Ok, so GW is having a 40K tournament. The last weekend in May, June, and July, you bring 1750pts of your favorite GW 40k army. As long as it's a legal main list out of a current codex. I dunno what they mean by that. But anyway, you play one game per weekend and the scores get turned into GW US HQ. The three highest scoring players will receive what GW is saying "an amazing prize." Also the highest scoring individual in each GW store will also receive a prize!

With the move all done and the fact that I unpacked the wolves and have been getting my hobby area in the garage set up, I'm gonna give this a shot!

So first off was sitting down and creating a 1750 point list. This took a lil time shaving off points here and there from what I WANTED to take. After going over some things I finally came up with a list. Let me know what you guys think. Next up will be to paint the list as all my wolves, save the rune priest I painted up in the fall, are all just primed black (landraider crusader and drop pod are still bare plastic.) I figure I have almost 2 months to get them done. Should be able to do it. Will keep you posted as to my progress.

Mine Are On Their Way!

As some others have done, I had some custom dice made to go with my Space Wolf Army! The price wasn't bad and it will be kewl to have dice to go with my army! As others have also stated, I can't say where but if you're a serious gamer you'll know where to order yours! I decided to go with the yellow dice with black as this matches my shoulder pads with Ragnar's icon. The Wolf symbol is the 6 on the dice. Hopefully I'll be seeing lots of wolves when rolling hehee.
