Two days ago, Google threw on the market their newest baby-browser: Chrome. Of course, I needed to get the toy and play with it.

Well, this is not a toy at all! This is a BROWSER and it's ment for browsing! That's why they just fitted in 2 areas: the navigation area (containing the tabs and the address bar - well... and 9 buttons) and the page area.You won't even find the omnipresent "File" menu.

2 days ago Mozilla released their new Firefox 3.0. Last week I installed the new beta for Microsoft IE8, wich is a total disaster (none of the sites I tested worked as they were supposed to). Anyway, it was just a beta, so let's not judge it (yet).

Therefore I was wondering if I should install it right away or "wait and see"...

iPhone finaly coming to Romania

After months of expectation, it looks like iPhone is finally comming in Romania.

Evenimentul zilei says:

Funny enough, Orange Romania and Apple did not mention anything about this subject.

As you might know, I'm a big fan of jQuery. On 14^th of January they released a new version (they call it a bug fix release, but taking into consideration the list of improvements I think it's more than that).Tested, liked, using from now on!

Last week I've been in London for about 5 days (4 - if we don't count the time spent on flying). All I can say it was a very interesting experience.

GET A BROWSER

30% of my visitors (still) use Internet Explorer 6. For those, I have a message: PEOPLE, GET A BROWSER!

Let's make it clear once and for all: IE6 is not a decent browser. It's an old, deprecated, buggy, unsafe piece of software.

I'm not one of those kids that will tell you "IE6 suks!" just because it's trendy to say that. I would not blaim somebody just for using a piece of software. It's your decision. But it's my decision not to continue spending my precios time to make a site compatible with your browser, and I should not be blamed for that. It's my decision.

You should be aware that Microsoft got a new version of IE (yes, I'm speaking about IE7)! And it's free! And you can install it even if you don't have a genuine copy of Windows (don't understand I encourage piracy coz I don't)

So if you don't want to change your browser, at least upgrade it! I'll give you a few reasons why, later on today, so stay tuned.

Words and images from my friends

After sleeping ~6 hours/night in the last 2 weeks, I finally managed to put together a little script that imports the last posts from my friends' RSS feeds.

What's all about?

The blue thing you see on my front page (the one with a lot of nice looking faces and small and strange looking icons) is a feed reader script. That means the script reads my friends' RSS feeds, caches them on my server, parse them for content and displays the most recent article. All this is done using SimplePie.

Of course, ther's a little bit of flavour added with the help of jQuery.

In the last few days I've been playing with RSS (and Atom) feeds alot. My customer needed an RSS system for the site I'm working on now and I realised (once more) that RSS feeds are bringing traffic to my site. It's easy to understand why my interest to this subject increased alot. I also got into a paradox: most bloggers I know have feeds (because their blog engine has that enabled by default), but verry few of them actually use RSS as a viable channel of comunication to their visitors. Well... They don't know what they're missing.
