Mi resta il dubbio: ci sono o ci fanno?

Ho ascoltato a tratti (mentre sistemavo le pagine web del Forge di Funambol, ho aggiunto link a tanta nuova documentazione) l’intervento di Paolo Romano al convegno di Capitale Digitale a Montecitorio. Ci sarebbe da scrivere molto, ma non ho la pazienza. Mi ha colpito come al solito certi politici, ignoranti o in mala fede, riportino le cifre sui supposti danni della pirateria con estrema leggerezza. I milioni di miliardi di euro lamentati come persi sono sempre calcolati con l’equazione

1 borsetta tarocca comprata al mercatino nero == 1 borsetta originale non venduta

Come pure fa Microsoft e tutti gli altri. Ricordiamoci tutti di chiedere sempre a chi sventola queste cifre di spiegare come le calcola, altrimenti si dà per scontanto che siano vere.

Romano ha fatto un’affermazione simile parlando dei video più visti su YouTube dicendo che riguardano il Grande Fratello e le partite del giorno dopo. La teoria che ha voluto far passare è che YouTube è una piattaforma di video-on-demand, quindi Google sottrae abbonati a Sky e al digitale terrestre. Ancora quindi l’equazione: se guardi i video del GF su YouTube vuol dire che compreresti un abbonamento per guardarlo in tv! Ma su! La maggior parte guardano quei video per vedere quello che i giornali riportano (per esempio, per vedere le immagini del bacio lesbico che fece notiza ) e per commentare i gol, come al bar. Se le televisioni sapessero usare Internet non staremmo a parlarne. Non si possono certo contare queste cose come mancate vendite di abbonamenti a sky… Mi resta sempre il dubbio ascoltando certi politici: ma ci sono o ci fanno?

The New Funambol Phone Sniper Program

After revisiting the Funambol Code Sniper, I thought it was time to adjust also the Phone Sniper program. Funambol Phone Sniper is the easiest way to contribute to the community: participants help by testing the compatibility of their device with Funambol sync and push services. It’s very easy to participate: you need a phone included in the list with an Internet data plan and about 30 minutes to execute a standardized test. Once you’re done testing, submit the report and you’ll be awarded a 12 months free account on myFUNAMBOL portal. If you test more than one phone you get $25 for each full report submitted. I want to build a Hall of Fame of Phone Snipers: don’t forget to let me know if you want to appear in it.

Un modo per risolvere il pasticcio elezioni e andare avanti

Nessuno è infallibile, quindi bisogna aspettarsi sbagli ed errori. L’importante non è non sbagliare, ma ammettere lo sbaglio, chiedere scusa se si è danneggiato qualcuno o qualcosa e correggere i propri comportamenti in modo da non ripetere l’errore. Di errori in questa bagarre elettorale ne han fatti molti. Mi sono divertito a scrivere una lettera di scuse da parte dei partiti che sono arrivati tardi in tribunale. Secondo me, se gli italiani sentissero l’ammissione dello sbaglio, le scuse e la promessa di non ripetere più l’errore potremmo finire qui la questione e andare avanti. Che ne pensate?

carissimi concittadini

abbiamo creato un pasticcio presentando le liste elettorali all’ultimo minuto. Nonostante sapessimo che la scadenza dei termini fosse vicina, abbiamo sottovalutato la complessità dello sforzo e abbiamo rischiato di danneggiare l’esercizio democratico del diritto di voto a milioni di cittadini. Gli organi del partito sono stati maldestri e ci scusiamo per questo. La nostra leggerezza ha costretto il governo a redarre un provvedimento d’urgenza e a far intervenire il Presidente della Repubblica in una questione che è solo frutto della nostra imprecisione. Ce ne dispiace.

Ci scusiamo con tutti gli italiani per aver dovuto far ricorso al decreto legge, ci scusiamo per aver dovuto cambiare le regole di accesso alle elezioni. Sappiate che l’abbiamo fatto solo per non privare ad una larga fetta di cittadini il diritto di votare per il loro partito.

Abbiamo imparato la lezione e promettiamo di non ridurci mai più a consegnare le liste l’ultimo giorno all’ultima ora possibile.

Vogliamo anche scusarci con gli italiani che ogni giorno si scontrano con la burocrazia inflessibile: promettiamo che nel prosieguo della legislatura lavoreremo per rendere automatici, snelli e semplici i procedimenti burocratici, continuando l’opera iniziata dalla legge Bassanini.

Con l’augurio che l’Italia possa andare al voto iniziando al più presto a parlare di programmi, porgiamo distinti saluti.

Per fortuna il Presidente mantiene il senno

Il Presidente Napolitano non solo risponde ai cittadini ma lo fa con sennno. Scrive il Presidente:

Ora sarebbe stato certamente opportuno ricercare un tale accordo, andandosi al di là delle polemiche su errori e responsabilità dei presentatori delle liste non ammesse e sui fondamenti delle decisioni prese dagli uffici elettorali pronunciatisi in materia.[...]

Ovviamente sarebbe stato meglio trovare un accordo, ma una sola è stata la soluzione proposta:

Diversamente dalla bozza di decreto prospettatami dal Governo in un teso incontro giovedì sera, il testo successivamente elaborato dal Ministero dell’interno e dalla Presidenza del consiglio dei ministri non ha presentato a mio avviso evidenti vizi di incostituzionalità.

Quindi la maggioranza ha portato una proposta, invece:

Né si è indicata da nessuna parte politica quale altra soluzione – comunque inevitabilmente legislativa – potesse essere ancora più esente da vizi e dubbi di quella natura.

Ora mi piacerebbe che maggioranza e opposizione mettessero da parte questo pasticcio e si vada al voto parlando di proposte per risolvere i mali del Paese. Ma ormai non ho speranze.

Orripilato, schifato, completamente sfatto

Si sta solo perdendo tempo su battaglie perse e, peggio, inutili. Mentre Bersani dice che bisogna vincere sul campo e non a tavolino, tutta l’opposizione sta preparando una manifestazione di protesta contro sto decretino (l’unica soluzione possibile ad un pasticcio). Allora vogliono solo vincere a tavolino?

Così si perderanno altre occasioni per affrontare i problemi veri dell’Italia. Per esempio, qualcuno che risponda al prof. Attardi si trova?

Another Lessig Presentation Silenced By Automatic Stupidity

To embed laws into the architecture is the stupidest thing the humanity is doing. How come nobody is lobbying Congress to build cars whose engine has been built not to exceed speed limit? Because everybody would think it’s just a stupid idea. Nonetheless Google is accepting to build automatic filters in YouTube that censor videos, even when no copyright is infringed. Architecture should not, never, embed law: we built our society on separation of powers, lets stick to the principles.

We live in a country that is supposed to cherish free speech, not stifle it in case it harms the business model of a company. We live in a country that is supposed to encourage the free expression of ideas — not lock it up and take it down because one company doesn’t know how to adapt its business model. We should never be silencing videos because they might infringe on copyright.
