Losing weight can be a very tough and frustrating process. But with the right mindset and attitude it doesnt have to be that way. One very important thing to do before you start your weight loss journey is to learn about common mistakes people do, and then dont do them your self!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
These are three of the most common mistakes that people do when it comes to weight loss:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1. Quitting to soon&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2. Expecting weight loss overnight&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3. Having the wrong attitude&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
Many people quit with their diet and exercising programs to soon. It could be because they got to little time to exercise one day so they miss one training pass. And then they lose motivation, and then they skip a few more training passes, and before you know it they quit training all together.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If you dont have enough time to do your usual exercise, then use all the time that you got. If you only got 10 minutes over, great use that to train then, its better to train for 10 minutes then nothing at all.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Same thing with the diet, lets say around Christmas and you eat a bit too much and a bit unhealthy one day. Many people feel very tempted to stop the diet and go back to their old food habits after that. You have to learn to stick to it even after one of those nights.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
And remember that just because you have broken your diet or exercising plan once or twice doesnt mean that you have failed. Just make sure that you step it up and do the right thing next time.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2. Expecting weight loss overnight&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When you start with your weight loss dont expect that youre going to see results in the first few days, maybe even in your first week. Many people when they start out they keep going for like a week and then they look at the scale and maybe they havent lost anything or just not as much as they expected. And they get frustrated because of it, and maybe keep going for a few more days and still they dont lose as much as they want, so they stop because they lose all motivation. You didnt gain all of your weight overnight, and neither will you lose it overnight. You need to understand this before you start your weight loss.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
One thing to remember about this is that you shouldnt only be watching the scale when you start your training and diet. You should start to feel more energetic, you can begin to feel less stressed during the days, maybe even sleep better! So dont just focus on the scale, focus on everything else that also comes with eating healthy and training.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3. Having the wrong attitude&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When you start out and you get a training program that you plan to stick to, and it says that youre going to train maybe 4-5 times a week. You can get very discouraged because most people feel that exercise is like a punishment, a chore, which has to be done.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
And with that attitude towards training, chances are that you will lose all your motivation for training quite quickly.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Training should be a fun thing to do. Something that you should look forward to. And if you dont feel that about your training you should consider changing your training and start doing something else. If youre out jogging 3 times a week, and you really hate jogging, then change it. Start with power walking 4 times a week, or start dancing or something that you enjoy.&lt;br /&gt;

The most common reason that people cite for dieting today is weight loss. While most of us would love to claim the noble mantle of dieting for health the vast majority of us are doing so for vanity. This, however, is a perfectly acceptable and plausible reason for making the lifestyle changes that are necessary in order to diet. In fact, this reason might prove to be a far greater motivator than many of the other commonly stated reasons for dieting.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When dieting for weight loss one of the most common complaints is constantly feeling hungry. In order to help combat this, you might want to incorporate some of the following strategies into your dieting program. First of all, eat more high fiber foods. Whole grains, apples, pears, and lima beans are a great source of fiber as are many breakfast cereals. Easy does it however when it comes to fiber as it may be filling but there are some unpleasant side effects that may accompany heavy fiber eating (remember that beans are a good source of fiber). Try using a product such as Bean-o when consuming larger amounts of fiber. You might also try spreading your fiber intake throughout the day rather than consuming all your daily fiber at once.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Another method for feeling fuller when dieting is to drink plenty of water while dieting. Water provides an important service to the body and is very necessary when it comes to delivering all the nutrients where they need to go. Water also helps regulate your metabolism, which is very important to the dieting and weight loss process. Additionally, water will help you skin retain its elasticity so that your skin can go more easily back into place once the serious weight loss begins.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Learn to control your portions. We live in a world where portions are over inflated and super sized so often that we no longer know what an appropriate portion looks like. Restaurant meals are quite often more than adequate for at least two full meals and that is before salads, soups, appetizers, or desserts have been ordered. Learning to portion correctly can save you from over loading your calorie intake for the day massively. It can also help you get extra helpings of the lower calorie foods such as lettuce and other vegetables rather than taking such large portions of calorie rich starches or fried foods.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Do not go "Gung Ho". There are limits to what the body and the mind can handle. When you go on a diet you are making a drastic change to your bodies caloric intake. If you go overboard you can lead to health risks along the way. Begin cutting calories a little at a time and incorporate changes as you go rather than going in with an all or nothing attitude. If you go overboard with your dieting plans chances are that you are dooming your diet to failure.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Take your diet one step at a time for the best results and be sure to incorporate extra physical activity into the mix. Even gardening when done on a regular basis can burn calories, so can cleaning the house, and playing with the little ones. Take a walk to the park or the corner store rather than getting in the car and pull a wagon or push a stroller while you're at it. The added weight will be just enough resistance to burn a few extra calories.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Dieting for weight loss does not necessarily have to be a major sacrifice on your part but in order to be successful it will be a radical change in lifestyle, particularly if you need to lose more than a few vanity pounds. On the first day, you feel pangs of hunger, and a white coating forms on your tongue. On the second day, you begin to feel gradual dissipation of hunger, and there is more white coating on your tongue. On the third day, you may feel complete disappearance of hunger and the clearance of coating on your tongue.&lt;br /&gt;

The first three days of a fast are most challenging. However, once the challenge is overcome, you are well on the way to rejuvenation of your entire body. A clear tongue and clean breath are a good indication that the cleansing is more or less complete.&lt;br /&gt;

The length of a fast depends very much on an individual. The following is just a general guideline: a one-day fast, as often as required, preferably weekly, for good maintenance; a three-to-four-day fast for general health and well being, several times a year; a two-week fast for complete internal cleansing, every year or so; and a three-week fast (or even longer) for curing a specific disease, under the supervision of a physician&lt;br /&gt;

These usually focus on a low calorie diet plan. Although there is nothing wrong should this be done for an adult, again, this is harmful for teens. This is because a sudden loss in the calorie intake will prompt the body to take defensive measures and force one to eat a lot later on to compensate of the deficiency. 

In fact, the same effects will happen should the teenager even think of going on a starvation diet. 

Another unsafe way to lose weight will be vomit out the food that was eaten. This is worse than starving oneself because the body expels hydrochloric acid that burns the throat and the teeth. 

So, is there a healthy way for a teen to lose the excess weight? The answer is yes. The first step is admitting to oneself that it has to end and then sharing this problem with members in the family to get the help and support. 

Someone may recommend a diet plan that was made by a trained professionals and tested by doctors. There are so many to choose from and some focus more on carbs while others put more emphasis on consuming more proteins. 

A healthy diet should have a good follow through with the right exercise. There are various workout programs like lifting weights, attending group classes or burning those calories on the treadmill.  

There are also other sports such as basketball, football or swimming that the teen can engage especially when the body can still withstand the pressures of rigorous activity. 

There is no such a thing as a fast way to lose weight. The only thing that exists is a safe and healthy one that can make this happen. This typical teenage girl makes use of her time at the arcade to lose weight. She started playing a popular video game called "Dance Dance Revolution (DDR)" at the age of 17. At that time, she was a senior in high school and weighed about 235 lbs, pretty overweight for a teenage girl. But after four and a half years of playing the said video game, she now weigh about 140 lbs.&lt;br /&gt;

Although she was active as a member in different bands, orchestras, drama, and had already played video games, she didn't regularly get out for exercise. She became really unhappy when she realized that she was at an unhealthy weight. Just as what happens with most obese people, she started losing hope that she will ever be a normal person again when faced with the fact that she had so much weight to lose. The Internet became a form of escapism so that she didn't have to face people in person because of her overweight condition.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In college, she became increasingly unhappy being in a new environment and her weight continued to yo-yo, usually staying at around 235 lbs. Sometime around October of 2002, a fun new game version of a game called DDR USA was released that contained a ton of new songs to dance to. She tried the game out and soon became addicted to the video game with a high activity rate. Not long after, she began frequenting the video arcade almost everyday playing the video game for hours and hours.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
At one point, she came to discover a website which had a Bulletin Board where people would meet online and talk about DDR and music games and she quickly became friends with the regulars. She was able to get to know friends who were able to motivate her to play more frequently and for hours at a time. It was during around this time she began losing most of her weight.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In her first six months of playing, she was able to lose 45 lbs with no change in her diet whatsoever. Once she discovered that she can find herself at a more comfortable weight again, she decided to make healthy changes in her life such as following a more healthy diet. She became more conscious of what she ate and as a result, lost an additional 20 lbs.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Playing the game regularly and coupled with a healthy diet has allowed her to maintain a healthier weight than she ever thought possible. All because she was able to enjoy losing weight by playing a video game that changed her life.&lt;br /&gt;

Show your support

Teeners may want independence but they are much too young to lose your guidance. They still need your support despite claiming that they want to decide for themselves and stand on their own two feet. The problem I guess with most teeners right now is the fact that they are not being guided by their parents in their choice of diet. Some do not even tell their parents that they are undergoing some kind of diet. 

If you want to really help your teener, make sure that you show your support. Be their friend and confidante. You may not agree with everything that they want but at least you know what is going on in their lives. This way, you can help them make the right choices and guide them to the right path. As they say, if you can’t beat them, join them. 

Emphasize more than looks

Teeners who are obsessed enough with their looks to want to lose weight fast are those that do not have much self-esteem or those who place much importance into how they look and not who they are. It is important that parents nowadays teach their children, especially teenagers that there are more things in life more important than looks, that they can be accepted and become successful with other things such as good grades, achievements in the arts or in music, excellence in sports or leadership skills. 

Become a good example

There is no right way of teaching your kids the value of the right kinds of diet than by example. And fat is what blurs the visibility of the underlying muscles. &amp;nbsp;When you have excess body fat you cannot see any muscular definition.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
So, if you want to get your thighs slimmer you have to eat enough of the right kinds of nutritious, fat burning foods that will help keep your legs sexy and lean.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
A great rule of thumb I tell my clients is to make sure you eat at least 5 small meals each day. &amp;nbsp;But, all 5 are not really "meals".&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3 are meals and 2 are snacks. &amp;nbsp;So, it looks like this:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Breakfast&lt;br /&gt;
Snack&lt;br /&gt;
Lunch&lt;br /&gt;
Snack&lt;br /&gt;
Dinner&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Getting into the habit of eating more frequently is how you start to boost your metabolism to burn fat so you can begin to get slim thighs much faster than if you eat fewer meals.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2. Strength Training: Usually when I tell women they need strength training to make their thighs slimmer they look at me like they've just seen a ghost.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
"But, I don't want to get bulky muscles" is a typical response I get. &amp;nbsp;I don't know where this myth came from but I want to clarify something here.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Getting "bulky" muscles just from strength training is 100% pure myth. &amp;nbsp;Here's why. &amp;nbsp;Building the kind of muscle mass that you see on a bodybuilder is absolutely unrealistic for the majority of people especially women.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Women naturally have lower levels of testosterone which makes it more difficult to build muscle mass versus men.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Here is something else to consider. &amp;nbsp;If you want slim thighs with nice "tone" you have to possess a certain level of muscularity anyway.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
You can burn all the body fat you want but if you don't have any real muscle on your legs your slim thighs will look more like toothpicks instead of sexy legs with curves.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
That doesn't mean you will "bulk up". &amp;nbsp;You simply fit the level of muscularity to match your goal. &amp;nbsp;Adding some lean muscle to your thighs will give you that sexy curvacious appeal you are looking for.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
And that comes from intense strength training and not from doing the leg machines at the gym with light weights and lots of repetitions.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
You will never get slimmer thighs with nice definition that way. &amp;nbsp;You have to lift heavier and smarter with just the right amount of rest in between to allow your body to recuperate which is when your thighs slim down.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

forward lunge walks&lt;br /&gt;
sideways lunge walks&lt;br /&gt;

3. Cardiovascular Training I never said no cardio. &amp;nbsp;I said not the traditional cardio everyone else does. &amp;nbsp;I am going to suggest a different twist on your typical cardio routine that will burn more calories and fat while stimulating your thighs to add some lean, sexy &amp;nbsp;muscle tone.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Getting your thighs slim requires the combination of sufficient muscularity and low body fat.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Your muscles lie underneath a layer of fat cells. &amp;nbsp;Fat cells store body fat. &amp;nbsp;The more fat you carry the bigger your fat cells become and the less visible your muscles are.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
So, to see those slim thighs underneath you also need to burn the fat from your fat cells.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Here's a tip to get you started:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Perform 90% Heart Rate Peaks- Instead of doing the typical marathon cardio workout in your "fat burning zone" you are going to perform a much higher intensity workout but for a shorter time period.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This will allow you to burn more calories and fat long after your workout is over. &amp;nbsp;Here is what you do:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Use the formula 220 - your age to get a number. &amp;nbsp;Now, multiply that number by .85 and write down the product. &amp;nbsp;Next, multiply the number by .75 and write down that product. &amp;nbsp;The 2 products are your low and high end heart rate ranges.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Example for a 35-year old: &amp;nbsp; 220 - 35 = 185&lt;br /&gt;
185 X .85 = 157&lt;br /&gt;
185 X .75 = 138&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Heart rate range would be 138 (low end) to 157 (high end).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
You will perform your cardio workout on any piece of equipment of your choice. &amp;nbsp;Warm up for 5 minutes by gradually building your heart rate up to your low end range (138 in the above example).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Then you will increase the intensity until your heart rate peaks at your high end range (157 beats per minute in the above example).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Once you reach your high end range you immediately drop the intensity and recover back down to yoru low end range. &amp;nbsp;Once you reach your low end range peak back up again.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Repeat this process of peaking and recovering for 30 minutes. &amp;nbsp;Then record the total number of times you peaked to your high end range.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The next time you perform this you will try to beat the total number of peaks.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Cool down for 5 minutes by gradually decreasing the intensity until your heart rate is at your low end range or lower.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Stretch for 5-10 minutes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

7. Make sure that cancellation requirements on the different types of health club membership are fully understood. Cancellation of most health clubs with long term contracts are often impossible. Choosing a monthly contract can be a good solution.  

8. Never consider automatic payments through credit cards. It can be very difficult to stop the payments once you have decided to cancel your membership. 

9. Always check all your paid accounts. This is important in case disputes arise with the health club. 

10. When you cancel your membership from the health club, make sure that you obtain it in written form.

With fitness training, you can also achieve flexibility. By doing exercise like pulling and stretching, your muscles can function in its widest possible range. You can try tai chi or yoga, they are great stretching exercises.&lt;br /&gt;

Another important factor is eating a well-balanced diet. With all these factors present, you can totally experience fitness anytime and anywhere.&lt;br /&gt;
