began as a teenager in the nineties spinning in Mumbai, then known as Bombay at Illusions, the club that became the birth place of Pereira's freestyle sound.

Now, with at living headquarters in Streatham in South London, Pereira always knew working in a coffee shop was acceptable for actors, however, this wasn't quite his cup of tea. He continued to perfect his sound, whilst continuing to be recognized amongst the elite in his musical field. Inevitably Pereira's sound would be captured and claimed via large credible corporate events and then residencies swiftly followed. The infamous Kaleidoscope on Push FM finally got the man on radio as Pereira, continued to build on his musical path and push his own boundaries.

Eventually he got to play at legendary venues - The Cross, KOKO'S, Heaven , Turnmills and of course Ministry Of Sound. Pereira was never overwhelmed when playing to large crowds and organizations or sharing the stage with superstar DJs. In many ways, that's what made him feel so comfortable - he was in his element and that's what got him respected by the superior producers.

Pereira was a part of Paul Van Dyk’s 2008 album Launch night at London's Koko club, and quickly got recognized as a future name in the business, he was later involved in events at Heaven, working at the Bedrock label with John Digweed. It was there that he managed to rub shoulders with Norwegian's finest musical export, Eric Prydz.

Pereira's name is conventionally connected to significant momentous occasions, London Fashion Week… Eivissa opening parties….. Innovative, energetic, invigorating, uplifting and refreshing start to any contemporary cutting edge event is what Pereira precision concise & precise sound brings…. During 2008, Pereira began what would become an unending run of successful collaborations, working with Vee Dale M.

Currently, Pereira is focused on his home residencies, although he has just returned from Goa, where he played for a festival "Sunburn" headlined by Defected and Eddie Halliwell. He is also working with Submerge, which is run by co-founders Nikhil Chinniappa and DJ Pearl.

Although not in India for long, he managed to hit the morning headlines over there for his memorable set and crowd connection. Whatever route Pereira follows, his musical values and continued commitment to excellence will be music to everyone’s ears.

www.myspace.com/djpereira

Download

Subscribe to this podcast with iTunes

Subscribe via your RSS reader

Stellar Music 47 : KANE IAN (Dustpan Recordings, Clean House, Trendy Mullet, Blockhead)

Slicing in some sexy beats just in time for the Digital Disco party at the beautiful Hacienda club in Singapore this weekend, next up on Stellar Music is DJ Kane Ian - one of Singapore's biggest DJ/producer exports, all round nice guy.

His love for spreading his style of house music, seamlessly incorporating funk, soul, jazz and whatever else catches his fancy to jack the party has allowed him to make rounds in the local club circuit and in New York City and Brooklyn where he headlined clubs — The Tank and Laila Lounge. The success of this clubnight led to guest appearances of “Our House” in Nottingham’s Pelham’s + Market Bar.

In 2008, he moved to the East End of London and with him came “Our House” to ‘Exit’ in the hipster area of Shoreditch. This one year residency and hosting of the crazy sunday night sessions, led to Nic teaming up with a group of upcoming East End djs to form This Is Not A Rave.

This Is Not A Rave has went from strength to strength and has been tipped for big things in London during two thousand and fine. The first party was held at Aquarium Club, Old Street in October 2009, which was such a resounding success Nic + his crew were asked to keep going for the Redlight after party until 9am the following day.

The next party was a massive success, the This Is Not A Rave Christmas party at the Egg on Sat 13 Dec with Nic having the honour to play alongside Tomoki Tamura from Four Twenty and SAW recordings. The third party had BBC radio 1 dj Andy George and Mikki Most from Trailer Trash. Keep an eye out for This Is Not A Rave @ the Egg club Kings Cross and 333 in Shoreditch.

Amongst these parties Nic has also played in the Hoxton Pony alongside Dj Sonny, S Café with Matt Jam Le Mont, Kensington’s Twenty Club and recently became a new resident at new club night WORD with Boombox resident DJ Rokk in the Bar Music Hall.

Download

Subscribe to this podcast with iTunes

Subscribe via your RSS reader

Stellar Music 45 : KEISHI (Singapore/ London) - PlusSIxFive London, Stellar Music

With almost a decade of being involved in the electronic music scene through behind the decks, managing global artists bookings and running a house music podcast (Stellar Music Podcast), DJ Keishi has spun in some of the biggest brand name events known throughout the world - Global Underground, Ministry of Sound (New Year’s Eve party) + Space Ibiza (World Tour).

Early on in his pursuit for musical excellence, Keishi won several DJ competitions – one of resulted in him being Singapore’s 1st JUICE Magazine DJ Quest Champion in 2002. has since soared through the ranks of the music world to establish himself as one of the UK’s most hotly-tipped electronic DJ/Producers.

Anil’s tale began in Maidstone, Kent – as a resident for local night Mongo Bongo, which saw him mix it up alongside the then (relatively) unknowns Nic Fanciulli and Mark Knight. As word of his talent soon spread, it wasn’t long before dance bible Mixmag made Anil as one of their first ever ‘Mixmag Future Heroes’ and some of London’s leading clubs came knocking on his door.

The legendary (now defunct) Turnmills wasted no time in offering Anil as many gigs as they could muster and unbelievably the following year (2005), Anil DJ’d at the club more times than any other DJ in the world – something ridiculous like 35 sets in total… not a bad start for a rookie at the start of his career!

As a Together resident (and a very popular one at that), Anil has shared the bill with some of the world’s most influential players including Green Velvet, Josh Wink, John Acquaviva, David Guetta and Felix Da Housecat to name a few and every time his sets have stood out equally alongside those of the more experienced global stars. Other regular commitments include gigs in in UK (Manchester, Brighton, Leeds) and abroad (Canada, Poland and Georgia), plus rather excitingly, the prospect of an ongoing international tour with cult label Global Underground.

Anil’s debut track with partner Dale - 'Disco Stew', was snapped up by Nic Fanciulli for his Saved Records label, whilst the follow up ‘Makes Me Feel’ featured on Fanciulli’s ‘Renaissance presents Nic Fanciulli Vol.1’ compilation. ‘Disco Stew’ and ‘Makes Me Feel’ are also set for a re-release this year complete with a new remix package.

With so many of his own tracks (productions & remixes) to pick from, Anil’s sets remain highly charged, very unique and always entertaining. Anil is very much the clubber’s DJ… always unselfishly playing for the crowd and letting the mood of the night determine his next track. Anil is held in very high regard by his peers and big-hitters like Hernan Cattaneo, Funk D’Void, Pete Tong, Dave Seaman, Max Graham, Chris Lake, Tim Sheridan, Cass & Mangan, Tom Stephan, Greg Vickers and James Talk are constantly championing his sound all over the world.

Catch this amazing live set from Ministry of Sound's Global Underground party for the launch of Felix Da Housecat's GU Milan album in May 2008.

MySpace: Anil Chawla

Download as mp3

Subscribe to this podcast with iTunes

Subscribe via your RSS reader

Stellar Music 40 : LESLIE JAMES (Singapore)

Here comes another episode featuring one of Singapore's upcoming talents in the DJ scene - Leslie James. Pako & Frederik may not be overly familiar with some but the Dutch pair has been quietly gaining a solid reputation as producers and DJs for the last 10 years or so. Many of their production work has appeared on some the most highly respected compilations released, in particular Sasha & Digweed’s ‘Northern Exposure - Expeditions’, Carl Cox’s ‘F.A.C.T.’ and Anthony Pappa’s ‘Renaissance’.

Pako & Frederik first crossed paths in 1992, through an introduction by a mutual friend. But it took a 1993 meeting to bring their two styles together. The place: a studio in the south of France. The result: the birth of their first collaboration (with Remy): 'Vauvenage'.

From this moment on Pako and Frederik joined forces to produce numerous club-hits for a Dutch label called Absolut Records. Their musical style attracted many; gaining them a spot on playlists from international DJ's such as Carl Cox, Sasha, John Digweed, Derrick May, Danny Howells, Chris Harshman, Jerry Bonham and Derrick Carter. Since 1995 Pako & Frederik perform live, appearing at numerous house-parties, clubs and internationally attended festivals such as I Love Techno (Belgium) and Dancevalley.

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px; (CTDK) is a Singapore electro-techno-house trio consisting of DJ Itchi, Kurt and Weili. As individual 'kids', each had proven themselves worthily throughout various DJ competitions held in Singapore for the past few years, Between them, they have swept titles such as Juice DJ Quest Champion & Frontal Super Star DJ Project Champion, Pioneer PRO DJ Regional Final Runner Up & Heineken Thirst Studio Runner-up.

Together as Clash The Disko Kids, they have been formidable on the dance floors. Out of nowhere, the trio seemed to have emerged out of the concrete jungle and reinvented the clubbing landscape in Singapore, putting their own sick twists towards house music and just about everything around it!

Inside the studios, the trio have remixed a number of singles, such as The Go! Team's "Grip On A Vice" and CSS's "Alala". Musically, they are known for incorporating a strong rock influence into their sets and image. Armed themselves with many influences from many music genres, you can only expect a mural of sounds when CTDK go behind the decks. Look out for the Kids in a city near you!

Check out Clash The Disko Kids' MySpace here

Download Mix

Subscribe to this podcast with iTunes

Subscribe via your RSS reader

Stellar Music 36 : ZekK (Singapore)

DJ ZekK or better know to many as Zach from The Contender Asia works as a Thai Boxing Trainer at a gym his friends owned. In recent years, DJ/producer Luca Ricci's taste and unique style which he translates into his records, has captured the attention of some of the world’s best DJs, such as: Danny Tenaglia , Chus & Ceballos ,Peace Division, X-press2, Steve Lawler, John Creamer & Stephan K, Tom Stephan, Peter Rauhofer, DJPaulo, Boy George, Satoshi Tomiie, Timo Maas and Dj Vibe.

In addition to producing under his name, Luca has also released works under different project names: Aenaria, Vibe Junction, Eugenie, Vesdino and Against the Grain.

In 2006 Luca Ricci launched his company Aenaria Recordings, aiming to be a stepping stone for young talent and a positive outlet for people that share the same passion for music!

Luca met Jaimy in 2005 when he asked Jaimy to remix his production ‘Sim City’. Being adopted by Amsterdam's Outland Records, just before their period of grandeur, Jaimy was responsible for half of all the music coming out of the Outland studios. He collaborated with many Dutch DJ’s, and engineered most of the other dance floor smashes.

After meeting his musical partner Kenny D - Jaimy & Kenny D. released most of their stuff with Black Hole Recordings, but also signed tracks and projects to United, Combined Forces and Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label. Their smash hit “Keep On Touchin' Me”, got picked up and reworked by Erick Morill's Subliminal, and has been signed to Skint Records/Loaded for a UK re-release. They’ve remixed acts as Halo Varga, Lil’ Devious and Way Out West. 2001 saw the birth of Jaimy & Kenny D’s own label, Fatal Tracks, administered and distributed by Black Hole.

Jaimy's style is best described as progressive tribal house, very groovy with a lot of samba and tribal rhythms. His sets are a combination of groovy house with dark, sexy beats, vocals, lots of percussion and old classics that bring a great energy onto the dance floor.

Jaimy organizes his own Label night “Fatal Music presents Drum Mode” every month at different locations in Amsterdam and he holds a residency at the leading gay-event called Joystick Amsterdam.

Besides dj-ing, Jaimy is owner of the Fatal Music Group consisting of several labels like Fatal Music and Drum Mode. Through his labels, Jaimy will release his solo materials, projects with other artists and producers and Fatal Music will represent him as a DJ and Drum Mode will be another outlet for Jaimy’s solo productions. Since 1996, Pako & Frederik's early releases on their own label Majestic Music led to immediate worldwide recognition, leading to numerous requests for their remix work on labels such as Nervous, DMC, Acetate, Dorigen and more.

They were also working with the GU brand closely and had released several singles for the label, such as ‘Beatus Possessor’, ‘Western Approaches’ and ’45 Minutes’. The duo was first featured on Global Underground in 1999, when John Digweed included their track ‘Blue Steel’ on his GU Hong Kong album, and then followed by a couple of signings on his prestigious Bedrock label. Their tracks have featured on compilations mixed by: Sasha & Digweed, Carl Cox, Anthony Pappa, Jerry Bonham, Derrick Carter, Remy and Slam and the duo finally released their own mixed compilation in 2002.

For this reason, they were chosen to launch Global Underground’s music imprint GU Music, which is Global Underground’s artists based label for singles and albums. Their first album was entitled ‘Atlantic Breakers’.

Since 1995 Pako & Frederik have performed live at international festivals like I Love Techno, Dancevalley (mainstage in 2004) and at numerous clubs worldwide such as Amnesia in Ibiza, Bedrock in London and Zouk in Singapore. More recently they have played live sets in Mexico, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and the Dominican Republic.

In 2006 they started a new label called Sitrep. The first two releases are by the boys themselves, using their family names: Raisani & Borgesius. At the moment Pako & Frederik are busy working on their second album for Global Underground, and on several twelve inches and remixes for various labels.

Check out www.myspace.com/pakofrederik

Download Mix

Subscribe to this podcast with iTunes

Subscribe via your RSS reader

Stellar Music 27 : BREAKINASIA presents REIKI (Singapore)

Born and raised in Singapore, DJ Reiki is a local breaks stalwart & one of the most well known Djs in the circuit. From there, EP and single projects followed on such labels as Sunkissed Records and Mo-Do Records, whilst Pole Folder spent much of the next two years focusing on an artist album he had been commissioned to do by John Digweed, making him the first artist to produce an artist album for the prestigious Bedrock label.

The album, 'Zero Gold' featured collaborations with Brooklyn singer and songwriter Shelley Harland, fellow Belgian Sandra Ferretti and Kirsty Hawkshaw, and the album's blend of downtempo moods, brilliant melodies and cinematic soundscapes have earned it critical acclaim all across the world.

It's testament to this fact that tracks from the album have been licensed for use popular shows such as 'Nip/Tuck' and 'CSI'.

In the live arena, Pole Folder's career as a DJ and live artist continues to grow and has seen him perform everywhere from Europe to America and Asia, with such places as Miami, Moscow, Monaco, Tokyo and Buenos Aires just a few of the places he's been invited to perform, and this continues to increase on a monthly basis, with live tours and DJ gigs planned for the future in various continents of the world.

Pole Folder performs in Zouk Singapore this weekend - a night not to be missed!

Check out www.myspace.com/polefolder and www.polefolder.com

Download Mix

Subscribe to this podcast with iTunes

Subscribe via your RSS reader

Stellar Music 25 : LUXY TAIPEI presents J-SIX (Dirty Saturday/ Taipei) 'LIVE' at Luxy

Did you know Stellar Music Podcast is now available for at the Apple Store?
