“Part concert, part variety show and part party, the event will bring to life many of the amazing videos and talent that YouTube viewers have already made popular”: This is how the show is being promoted at YouTube itself.

While YouTube hasn’t made any announcements regardng a service that enables users to stream their videos live, it is arranging a big live stream event on their own. And I for my part think that this is a very smart move. While pitting itself directly against services like Ustream, YouTube is creating something that has never been there before: a live streamed event unlinke any other. Keeping such live-events rare is exactly how to reach millions of users. Furthermore such live streams could be opened to several media- and business partners.

A few days ago I found a nice twitter-experiment on Facebook’s feed (thanks Nate!), called Twistori.Its actually quite simply. It’s drawing data from Summize (The Twitter Search in realtime) searching for sentences starting with “I love, hate, think, wish, feel, …” and displaying them in a nicely designed and java-script-animated website. (at first sight I thought this must be flash, because of the font-rendering and the smooth animations, but well yeah it’s JS)

I really like the idea, and for some people this might be a kinda funny way of pastime But that’s only the first step of the experiment, lets see what’s coming next!

Furthermore this shows that there is a lot of potential using Twitter messages outside of Twitter. How about displaying them on a brand’s website displaying only messages containing the brand’s name … but well yeah you kinda should filter out bad words to avoid displaying messages that you don’t want to show up.

The selected series are online for one week after the first broadcast on TV. This feature is indeed a benefit for the TV stations, as the series would otherwise be watched on e.g. YouTube. The main goal is to satisfy watchers who have missed a specific episode. In addition to that new watchers can be targeted.

IPTV is a rapidly growing part of the Internet, which will influence the future of Web significantly. A big amount of TV series produced in the USA will soon be availabe for free on the platform hulu.com, which is a joint venture of Rupert Murdochs News Corporation and NBC Universal. It opens to the public on March 12th. Then its offering should even be expanded by productions from Warner Bros, which is another proof showing the growing importance of IPTV.

Other fantastic examples of On-Demand Video support are MTV’s Overdrive, Joost (founded by Kazaa and Skype creators) and new Worb.tv (World of Red Bull - IPTV).

The Game was developed by the accredited advertising agency Lessrain situated in London, Berlin and Tokyo.

It is possible to create your own “planes” with a pencil an several colouring-tools. Material and shape will later play an important role in the machine’s flying properties.

When the construction process is done, you can start your own Red Bull Flugtag within a 3-D flight simulator.Points are given after each flight for distance covered and piloting style. Loops, drifts, rolls, low-level flight and other maneuvers are rewarded.

Furthermore pilots can store their planes in a hangar where they can develop them further or try out new designs anytime. Another unique aspect of the game is that any user can take-off with any airplane and, what’s more, can change and improve it to their own tastes.

Last week the website was awarded at the FWA, where it became S.O.T.M. (Site of the Month) in February 08.

Certainly this is a necessary step, as Facebook.de will become a serious opponent in 2008. In my opinion the VZ-group will not be able to survive parallel to Facebook for a longer period of time, as Facebook has become too mighty within the last year. Maybe an acquisition will follow, but let’s see …

As the domain is still forwarding to StudiVZ.net you can find a screenshots of the new MeinVZ.net a line below. But don’t expect too much, there aren’t any major changes. Different logo, name and stylesheet, that seems to be it.

Last night there was an earthquake in the UK. The first media, to inform about the earthquake was Twitter. BBC had the story up a full 30 minutes after it had first been posted on Twitter. As we can see Twitter breaks the news cycle down to seconds, allowing instantaneous distribution of breaking news as it breaks - faster even than blogs, television or radio.

Certainly a serious coverage will always take longer than just telling in a few sentences what has happened. That is why Twitter(and other services) are for sure the fastest sources, but not always the most reliable.
