Guess what? I wrote a dot tutorial (in a sense) about all things dots in the current issue (for Feb) of “The Soda Lime Times”. You can see it by going to www.sodalimetimes.com and signing up for the issues. It is a great magazine, and there is so much eye candy in the issues from amazing and talented artists. Diane Woodall started this magazine for all of us in July of 2011 and i thoroughly enjoy reading it. Heck, even if you don’t melt glass, you sure can get a lot of info about artists and their work. Who knows, maybe it will get you inspired to take up lampworking. Its only 4.95 per month! Here’s a big shout out and thanks to Diane for giving me such a big section to blab about all of the things I know about dots and very large beads. Please check my etsy as I am officially up and running on the site… :)

hello all,

So I have had a very busy Jan so far.  I am so excited about all the upcoming things in my business and I have been making beads to list on etsy, beads for Yelton and more sand beads for the Jersey story.  Next week i get to have a small photography class from my photographer so i can upload images onto etsy.  Trust me, they are STILL no good.  Obvi my beads look like the photographers pictures, I am trying to just get a standard that i can use that does my beads justice, not take away from them.  I mean, how are you gonna sell beads that way?  So, stay tuned, next week I will be listing by Thursday at the latest.  PLEASE sign up on this blog to be notified, I know that the site is new but i need followers, Helloooooooooo out there big big world!

Mailbox, opened, The Flow Winter 2011 issue inside, happy :)

I was very excited to see my picture in the 7th annual Gallery of Women in Glass.  I knew of course, but its just nice to see your beads inside of a magazine.  Its a great issue, and I am honored to have been chosen to be in it this year.  Its nice to be a part of a community that shares their knowledge and their love of glass.

I have a special inspiration for my dot beads.  it starts with a particular bird and ends with hundreds of dots.  The bead on the right column of my blog was inspired by my love of Emperor Penguins in the arctic.  They complete a journey of instinct and love by amassing together in hopes of holding back the most brutal attack of cold the world has seen.  They do this for one reason.  They do it in hopes of springing forth life in the form of a tiny, fragile baby that will eventually grow and repeat the same steps as its parents did.  My beads are repetitive but a dot by itself can never be as impactive as when they are all together.
