A few years ago, Northwest wordsmith Paul Nelson introduced me to
a poetic form by Alan Ginsberg: &ldquo;American Sentences:&rdquo;
a Haiku un-spooled; seventeen syllables laid out in a straight line.
What intrigues me is how this form lends itself to our way of speaking &ndash;
the same way Shakespeare&rsquo;s iambic pentameter feels so natural.

We don't move until the house lights come up.
