Dena and David had a beautiful wedding at the Hotel Monaco in DC. I loved seeing their beloved dog Nessa hanging around the bridal suite (I’m not sure they hired me because I’m also a pet photographer, but it probably helped a little! We dog people stick together). Dena’s father, a rabbi, performed the ceremony, which made it even more special. I imagine that officiating your own child’s weddings is one of the great moments in a parent’s life.

It was wonderful to watch David and Dena together. There were times when they would just melt into each others arms, seemingly oblivious to everything going on around them. It was really beautiful, and I’m glad I caught a few of those times in the photos.

Veronica and Tom’s wedding was the first of my two back-to-back weddings at the Hotel Monaco in February. Good thing I love shooting there! After the moving ceremony at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, we headed back to the Monaco for a rocking reception. I love that Veronica and Tom gave all of their bridesmaids and groomsmen new Chuck Taylors for photos after the ceremony!

Big thanks to the awesomely talented Jessica Brown of Simply Chic Events for pulling together these top-rated wedding vendors to create an amazing event. They created an elegant reception that was relaxed and fun (not an easy combo)! There’s something special about the Paris Ballroom with professional lighting. Lighting can really add to the atmosphere of the event. Veronica and Tom went with purple lighting that enhanced the cool, laid-back ambiance. DJ D-Mac kept everyone moving with his usual eclectic mix of dance music.
