Based at an observatory in Diedorf (Germany), Karl Thurner sent us some of the most detailed images of Jupiter that we have received to date. He used a Newton 18" f/4.5, DMK &lt;a href="http://21au618.as/" target="_blank"&gt;21AU618.AS&lt;/a&gt; and Astronomik RGB. &lt;/div&gt;

Den 11. August 1999 wird wohl kein Sternfreund so schnell vergessen: An diesem Tag ereignete sich eine totale Sonnenfinsternis, die in Deutschland sichtbar war. Es war dies die erste nach dem 19. August 1887, als sich im Osten Deutschlands kurz nach Sonnenaufgang der Neumond zur Gänze vor die Sonne schob...&lt;br /&gt;

Zu 70 Prozent bedeckt:&lt;br /&gt;
Wenn am Dienstag [04.01.211]in Deutschland die Sonne über den Horizont steigt, ist die Sonnenscheibe bereits teilweise vom Mond verdeckt. Eine Stunde nach Sonnenaufgang - je nach Ort zwischen 9.00 und 9.30 Uhr - erreicht die Bedeckung der Sonnenscheibe das Maximum: "Dann sind rund 70 Prozent vom dunklen Neumond verdeckt" -im Süden weniger, im Norden mehr.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Gegen 11 Uhr ist das Schauspiel vorbei. Drei Mal wird es in diesem Jahr noch eine partielle Sonnenfinsternis geben: am 1. Juni, 1. Juli und 25. November. &lt;br /&gt;
Doch keine der drei Himmelsschauspiele kann man von Mitteleuropa aus sehen. Dafür werden sich totale "Mondfinsternisse" am 15. Juni und 10. Dezember ereignen, die auch in Deutschland zu bestaunen sind.&lt;br /&gt;

Bereits gegen 21.30 Uhr kann man die meisten Sternbilder  sehen. Früh am Abend ist es am Himmel immer noch Sommer, was man gut am  Sommerdreieck mit Wega in der &lt;b&gt;Leier&lt;/b&gt;, Deneb im &lt;b&gt;Schwan &lt;/b&gt;und Atair im &lt;b&gt;Adler &lt;/b&gt;erkennen  kann. Zu späterer Stunde – unsere Sternkarte gilt ja immer für  Mitternacht (bei Sommerzeit sogar für 1 Uhr) – steht das große  „Herbstviereck“ hoch am Himmel. Drei seiner Sterne gehören zum Sternbild  &lt;b&gt;Pegasus&lt;/b&gt;, die linke obere Ecke dagegen zur Lichterkette der &lt;b&gt;Andromeda&lt;/b&gt;.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Unterhalb von Pegasus und Andromeda stehen die Tierkreissternbilder &lt;b&gt;Steinbock&lt;/b&gt;, &lt;b&gt;Wassermann &lt;/b&gt;und &lt;b&gt;Fische&lt;/b&gt;.  Im westlichen Teil der Fische glänzt auffällig der Riesenplanet  Jupiter. Alle drei Sternbilder sind aber nur mit so schwachen Sternen  gesegnet, dass man einen ziemlich dunklen Beobachtungsort braucht, um  sie am Himmel zu finden. An helleren Sternen in dieser Gegend fällt  einzig Diphda (unterhalb von Jupiter) im Sternbild &lt;b&gt;Walfisch &lt;/b&gt;auf. Sehr nah am Horizont kann man außerdem die helle Fomalhaut im &lt;b&gt;Südlichen Fisch&lt;/b&gt; funkeln sehen.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

An einem Nachmittag das ganze Sonnensystem durchstreifen - das können Besucher der Volkssternwarte in Darmstadt. Eine Million Kilometer legen Spaziergänger mit jedem Schritt auf dem Planetenweg zurück. An elf Stationen warten Informationstafeln auf dem rund drei Kilometer langen Rundweg, der sich rund um das Observatorium auf der Ludwigshöhe entlangschlängelt. Die meisten davon symbolisieren Planeten der Milchstraße.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"&gt;Die Volkssternwarte liegt im Landschaftsschutzgebiet. Autofahrer parken an der Mathildenhöhe. Busse halten an der Station Böllenfalltor. Der Planetenweg ist ganzjährig begehbar. Die Sternwarte hat im Sommer nur donnerstags ab 19.30 Uhr und sonntags ab 10 Uhr geöffnet. Juli 2010 steht am späten Abend ein ganz außergewöhnliches Ereignis an. Der mit bloßem Auge sichtbare, 2.7 mag hellen Stern delta Oph im Sternbild Schlangenträger wird von dem nur 13.5 mag hellen Asteroiden (472) Roma bedeckt. Der etwa 51 km große Asteroid schiebt sich gegen 23:57 Uhr mitteleuropäischer Sommerzeit vor den Stern. Die erwartete maximale Bedeckungsdauer beträgt 5,6 Sekunden. In dieser Zeit "verschwindet" der Stern in einem Gebiet, dessen Zentrallinie sich in Deutschland Berechnungen zufolge über Essen und Hamburg zieht, kurzzeitig am Himmel. Nur selten wird ein so heller Stern bedeckt.&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/td&gt;&lt;/tr&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Venus &lt;/b&gt;ist strahlender Abendstern. Ihr  Durchmesser wächst bis Ende Juni auf 16’’.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Mars &lt;/b&gt;ist noch am  Abendhimmel zu sehen; am 6. zieht er an Regulus im Löwen vorbei.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Jupiter  &lt;/b&gt;wird morgens immer besser sichtbar. Am 6. begegnet er dem  lichtschwachen Planeten Uranus.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Saturn &lt;/b&gt;steht weiterhin in der  Jungfrau, ist aber nur noch in der ersten Nachthälfte zu sehen.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Uranus  &lt;/b&gt;kann ab Mitte Juni morgens gefunden werden; er steht in den  Fischen.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;In Mannheim wurde schon 1927 eines der weltweit ersten Planetarien eröffnet. Es stand im unteren Luisenpark und verfügte über eine 24,5 Meter große Kuppel mit 514 Sitzplätzen. Das Projektionsgerät war ein Modell II von Carl Zeiss Jena.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Das alte Planetarium war nur 16 Jahre in Betrieb, denn die Kuppel wurde 1943 bei einem Bombenangriff schwer beschädigt und nicht wieder aufgebaut sondern zehn Jahre später vollständig abgerissen. Seit etwa 1975 bemühte sich eine Bürgerinitiative um den Wiederaufbau des Planetariums.&lt;br /&gt;
