Monday, March 5, 6:30-9:30pm When the People Lead. Veteran organizers will share stories of strategic campaigns for social change. Participants will include Bal Pinguel (veteran of the 1986 EDSA Revolution in the Philippines), Cindy Milstein of the Institute for Anarchist Studies and 5 other veterans of local struggles.

Saturday, March 10 9:30am- 4:30pm Nonviolent Warrior. This space-limited experiential training facilitated by Training for Change is for activists who want more powerful change strategies and anyone who wants to channel love and anger into action for change. Many activists use nonviolent tactics butdon’t achieve the full value of the action because it’s not connected to a strategy, or to a richer understanding of how nonviolent action works. Tending to a bonsai tree is a time consuming and painstaking process at the best of time.

But imagine combining that arduous and complex task with building scale models of windmills, lighthouses and even the Michelin Man.

Well imagine no more because one Japanese artist has done just that with these bizarre but fascinating miniature sculptures molded around bonsai trees.

They look like monsters from another planet. But far from inhabiting some alien world light-years from ours, these frightening looking creatures exist at the bottom of Earth’s deepest oceans. Astonishing new pictures of Polychaetes, or scale worms, show how they have evolved to survive the intense pressures more than 1,000 meters below the water’s surface, where the sun’s rays never penetrate.And it is hoped discoveries from this region could help shed light on the possibility of life existing on other planets
