This one uses a helicopter rotor, so it’s really just a tiny carcopter. Funny enough, though, this proof of concept was actually done in 1923. So the technology has been around.

I’m still waiting for the flying cars like in Back to the Future II, where there are no wings or rotors. I want a bad ass DeLorean with wheels that flip around.

Last year, I launched a temporary site for my beer blog: Beer is My Poison. I just relaunched it with a new theme and all new articles. The previous stuff was mostly filler content and was far off from the direction I wanted the site to go.

Now, though, Beer is My Poison will be all about beer: breweries, brews, home brewing, good times, events, and anything else beer-related. For now, the events and brewery tours will be local to my home town in the mountains of North Carolina, Asheville. Asheville is a beer lover’s haven, with a high concentration of microbreweries, craftbreweries, and beer fans!

The new site’s probably a bit buggy, but I launched it anyway. Shouldn’t be much longer till I fix it all up.

They’ve released a new feature that suggests additional options based on your search term. For example, search for an image of “jaguar”; did you mean the automobile or the great cat?

Sure, it’s a seemingly simple feature, but I guarantee it’ll save me even more time in my daily life, and as a web guy, one minute can be ages.

Thanks, Google.

My take? Well, students who don’t study aren’t going to study any more, regardless of which distraction they choose. I’m sure these same students have plenty of additional options with which to waste their time. Don’t blame facebook, blame a lack of interest in studying.

So we’re just hanging out, and we have the idea to take a few jager bombs. But we had no red bull. “Oh well,” we said.

Then my genius self had the idea to substitute Coors Light for the Red Bull. How bad could it be? It’ll probably just be a little bland, couldn’t be that bad.

So we went for it. Three of us. We named this new concoction “HardCoors”.

The HardCoors wasn’t too bad. It was bland, boring, and a little tough to get down. We discussed it a bit and determined that a sweeter beer, probably a fruity hefeweizen, would serve much better as a substitute for Red Bull.

In the fridge was one Magic Hat H.I.P.A., an IPA that’s plenty cloudy and plenty bitter. Screw it, let’s try it. How bad could it be? We named this one the Hardcore Hippo.

(You know the taste you get from an aspirin tablet if it doesn’t go down the first swallow? You know, that awful taste? Well imagine taking 10 aspirin tablets, placing them on the back of your tongue, and waiting a while. )

Well, that’s what the Hardcore Hippo tasted like. Awful. Just terrible. The worst thing I’ve ever tasted in my life. Poor Scott went right the sink, about ready to vomit!

The Magic Hat H.I.P.A. bottle cap

You look at these things and wonder how the hell they don’t fall over, but people say they’re rather comfortable. Gyroscopes, huh. Pretty damn cool!
