Rain, rain and more rain. I usually like it, even love it, but right now I’d rather be out and about taking pictures instead of being stuck indoors. Granted, I really really need to clean up my apartment and no there is no escaping it, but still. I want to go out and play *sulking*.

And then sometimes you wonder into a patch of land that scares you. Without any reason. Without any warning. Things are suddenly… different. There’s no such things as complete silence, but this is close to it. Not a single bird is singing. The wind is there, but doesn’t stirr the leaves on the ground or in the trees. Things are just… different. And as you pass the empty hut you see the deeper shadows around it and you walk faster, just to get back into the sunlight and the noise of an ordinary summer’s day.

I started to read the first article and by the end of it I thought “great, I can remember that till monday.” And suddenly there was this deja-vu-feeling. I flipped a few pages forward to find a great macro-related-article and thought “hm, this sounds good, I will try that”. The Deja-Vu got stronger. I grabbed the next issue, and the next. And suddenly I realised that I had read all those great tutorials and how-tos and how-not-tos and never once really gone through with *any* of those projects.

Main reason? Well, there’s two actually. The first one is the really depressing one: There are simply some tutorials that require *being* at a certain place at a certain time. Since I have hundreds of miles between me and the sea, I don’t think I’ll be using any of the “capture sunset and blurry waves at the beach” kind of tutorials any time soon. Even more depressiug is when they show images from locations that are so wonderful and interesting, you really couldn’t mess up the shot even if you left your camera on automatic and aimed ramdomly. I don’t need a tutorial for *that*, I need money, a plane-ticket and three weeks of vacation.

The second reason is simply that I usually don’t carry the whole magazine-stack around with me all the time. I destinctly remember one time in the woods when I thought “hey, there was the great article on shooting fungus in Digital Photography World”.. which was resting happily on my living-room table while I was trotting through a cold november wood. Really helpful. So now I’ve spent the last hour scanning stuff and now I am waiting for the pdfs to show up on my IPad. Now I only have to remember to take the IPad along next time *lol*.

I know he’s probably just off to his job at the Disney Store, but I could not help smiling when the Mouse passed me on Hungerford Bridge one chilly November morning. Too good to miss.lol.

Und manchmal erwischt einen Höhenangst nicht hoch oben, sondern weit unterhalb der Wolkendecke. Und das ist wiedermal so eine Situation, in der der Satz im Englischen einfach besser klingt. Lol. Jedenfalls ist das „Verwackeln“ in dem Fall Absicht. Hab grad so eine „Mag-nicht-mehr-langweilig-“schöne“-Bilder-machen“-Phase.

On a hot day in the city taking this shot of the fountain on Trafalgar Square felt rather refreshing. lol. This is one of my favorite images I ever took and I have it mounted on my kitchen wall as a poster. It’s rather old, but I really wanted to post this today, because I am melting away in my apartment at almost 34 degrees Celsius and any picture of water is rather attractive right now Oh and for those of you who haven’t been here for a while: Yes, this place has a new look and I hope you like it. Some things – as usual – are not quite finished yet, but I am working on it.
