This is really impressive. This guy basically had to learn how to skate twice. First with his real leg and then with a prosthetic leg. That has got to be a painstaking process.

Powell Peralta G-Slides SSF Skateboard Wheels

I've been eyeing these wheels for awhile. I just can't handle that vibration on regular roads so a softer wheel is a much more comfortable ride for me, but I hate giving up slideability. I haven't tried these wheels yet, but they look very promising! Has anyone else out there tried these yet?

So, I've been down for awhile....apparently some changes happened at blogger and gspace and my autorenewal on my domain name didn't happen and my domain name was up for auction. What a pain in the butt that was. Thankfully I was able to reclaim it back! I mean it's not like I make any money off this site, but I definitely have gotten quite attached to the name over the years.

This is what you call hard work, son! The determination behind landing these tricks is intense. I was definitely holding my breath and cringing at all those bone crunching slams. I think not having an audio soundtrack behind it really made you focus on the slams and makes even more.

This guy is awesome. He started skating at 40 years old because he always wanted to! What an inspiration to do something you've always wanted to do but never got around to....it's never too late dudes! Go to his YouTube page and check out his videos....he's got quite a few under his belt now so you can watch his progression. He reminds me of when I got back into skating around 30 years old (I'm 42 now) after being away for 12 years. I was just constantly at the skatepark trying to learn tricks better than when I was a kid, so kickflip after kickflip, my goal was to make it as easy as an ollie. I came close and was catching them higher than before but then when I switched decks, for some reason I couldn't land them as much. This video shows him collapsing after what seems like a million kickflip attempts...I remember having days like that...they can be exhausting. He's also an actor so that is an interesting part of his videos as well. I wish I had filmed myself everyday to see my progression. Unfortunately I only have footage of me as I was starting to learn tricks again, but not when I really was at my peak around 2006. I'm hoping Ben's videos will inspire me enough to squeeze out some time in my busy life to get back to skating again. I miss the fun and the stress relief that it is. Keep at it Ben!

I was hesitant about posting this because I don't really know all the facts, I don't know the kids and when you don't have all the information, it's easy to jump to conclusions, especially when skaters as a whole feel victimized and feel like we are treated unfairly when we are just trying to have fun. I've only had an encounter with the cops a couple times when I was a kid skating some ledges in front of a movie theater on a military base. They told me and my friends we can't skate here and we said okay and just left. I mean, that is all that is needed in that situation, right? In my 30s I took my lunch break one day at a parking garage in town that gets no use at all. It was raining and I really wanted to skate bad, so I went there. A cop pulls up, realizes I'm an adult and is fine with me skateboarding there. I wonder if I was a kid if I would have been treated differently.

It appears to me that the officer is being way to rough with this kid, but we don't get to see the very beginning of the altercation nor hear anything that might have been said so I find it hard to make a definite opinion here. In my opinion, when the police show up, you show them respect and do what they say. You don't run away, you don't pull away from them. You say your sorry and you cooperate with them. I feel like in today's society, there is some general consensus that it's okay to disrespect police officers or other people of authority if you feel you are right or not doing something wrong.

Now, if it's true that the cops said nothing to this kid and just walk up to him and grab him. I don't think I would react well to that either. I mean, he's a kid skateboarding, not a criminal with a gun in his hand. As long as you are not posing a danger to others, I think you deserve to be told what you are doing wrong before being apprehended, especially with force. I'm pretty sure the 15 year old kid didn't need to be thrown to the ground in this situation.

Anybody remember this from Powell Peralta's "Public Domain" video? How could you not? It's that moment when you look over at your friends and are all like...."What's happening here?" :)

Well apparently Daniel has put the full version of the film that was shot for Powell-Peralta up on YouTube. So if you have a craving for more Effortless gliding, check it out below! :) I shouldn't poke fun, as I could not do what he is doing on a skateboard. He definitely rides a board like no other human being and probably has better balance than anyone out there. I definitely have more appreciation and respect for the guy now. When I was a teenager watching this, it was totally a joke. I wonder how Stacy and George meant for "us" to take this segment...
I'm not sure if the following video was recorded in 2009, but it was published onto Youtube in 2009. Pretty interesting insight into Daniel Gesmer.

I love listening to these guys from my childhood sit around and shoot the breeze. Feels like home since these guys were practically on my VCR all though the 80s. Give it a listen, you'll most likely learn some cool stuff from the work they have done together. Gleaming the Cube dude! That's all I have to say. Ha! :)

Hawk's part in this video is pretty sick. You gotta admire his determination to get a trick. I love how he used Soap Shoes to do foot slides on the coping...INSANE! Great music selection too with Primus and Dead Kennedys.
