I could easily be this Mom! Not the "Oh my God my kids will just wither up without me" condescending Mom, but the other one. The one who doesn't fit 'the mold' of Super-Mommy. The one who enters the PTA meeting late, disheveled and in pajamas because I forgot as usual. I am the Mom who sent dog food to school on 100 items day because it was what I could find and I was already feeding the dogs when I remembered. I am the fly by the seat of my pants Mom who enjoys my children but also enjoys my own hobbies as well. The Mom who doesn't have perfect children, a perfect home, a perfect husband and a perfect lifestyle and doesn't care. The one you will find brushing a cheese stick off at the playground and handing it back to my child who dropped it because dirt don't hurt and they need to build their immune system somehow. And the Mom who doesn't easily make other Mom friends because I haven't read the latest Dr Sear's book or feed into the stereotypical Mom role.

What I am is a Mom who hasn't posted on her "Mom blog" in 6 months because although I have things to talk about I don't feel like anyone wants to read about it. The Mom who has a calendar to keep track of the kids' after school activities because I have forgotten jump rope on Fridays numerous times and either show up to pick up too early or forget to pick up at all. I have feed ice cream for dinner, and sometimes breakfast. Given my kids chocolate and put them in front of the TV for a bit of quiet time. Skipped reading homework to play Uno. Let my daughter go to school in a pair of pants with a noticeable hole because they are her favorite. Allowed my son to to have too much video game time and even worse the violent ones. But, I am a Mom who will ADMIT my downfalls and still hold my head high.

But, what keeps all this in check is balance as I am the Mom who will allow the neighborhood kids to carve pumpkins at my house and not worry about seeds getting thrown on the floor. The one who always has an open door policy and believes trading homework right after school for playtime on a beautiful day is necessary. Playing in dirt is a necessary evil for enrichment purposes and the hose is a good bath for afterwards. Sleeping with a dog is comforting and the sheets can always be washed. Setting up camp in the living room in front of the TV on the weekends is fun. Having a picnic in front of the TV for dinner is even more fun. And sleeping in Mom/Dad's bed from time to time is ok after a scary movie.

What I am saying is nobody is perfect. We strive for the same things, that our children are happy, healthy and successful in everything they do. How we get there is our prerogative.

So I gently pried his fingers off and grounded his feet to the floor. Needless to say, he is not handling the meds well and neither is Mommy. Or the rest of the people within listening distance of us.

What's better is that not two weeks ago Chachi went back to school after being out for 10 days with her asthma, brought on by allergy season. She was on an antibiotic, neb every 4 hours, nasonex, clariton and two inhalers. Now add that up with an ER visit and three doctor's co-pays and what do you get? At least 3 pairs of Uggs for Mommy. And just the month before she broke her arm jumping from the counter after sneaking into the medicine cabinet, which was another ER co-pay. I think our family alone is bringing the local hospital out of bankruptcy. The least they could do is send us a fruit basket, preferably Edible Arrangements just in case they are reading this....hi hospital.....

Oh, and the best part.....Chachi got kicked out of school today. The kid is really racking up the miles in Kindergarten. And surprisingly it had nothing to do with using her classmate's braids for reins on her pretend horse.
I received a call from the school nurse asking for her vaccination record. The one I have been avoiding all year because I really don't want to go in front of the school board. For one, I know I can not hold back my temper if the talk of taxes comes up...and that will definitely not bode well for my case. Not to mention the incredibly rude bus driver and how we have almost been to blows on several occasions. Coupled with the fact that we don't even use the public school system yet I pay out the ass.
Back to getting kicked out.....apparently they do not appreciate our delayed vaccination schedule and just can not fathom having a titer done instead of just cranking my kid full of mercury. Whoda thunk it.
A quickly jotted letter from the pediatrician and we have an extension. Now, I just have to find out of that extension brings us to the end of the school year. If so, we're all good. If not....life is gonna suck for some school board official that I begin to harass.

Other than that life is peachy in the kid department. They continue to suck the life out of me and never sleep just like little vampires. But of course, I wouldn't change it. Before you know it, they will be out of the house and on their way. Whether or not that means military school is to yet be determined.
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/StinkyJohnJones/~4/7LLJlnXLxEo" height="1" width="1" />

If I didn't know him, I would have thought someone switched him out for a better behaved kid.

And what's worse is that Chachi has taken over his role as the PITA.
A Mom can never win.

Bedtime is still blissful. Unless I let Dave put the kids to bed. Why is it that husbands screw everything up? His way is to put them in bed and walk away. If they get out, he lets them lay down with him, inevitably falls asleep, and I walk in to a husband and two kids snoring in my bed.

Which reminds me, he put them to bed tonight. I better go check and see what's happening. Wanna bet they are not in their own beds?
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/StinkyJohnJones/~4/yRdAnTi4sDk" height="1" width="1" />
