Club Championships, December 9th - Volunteers to help on the evening

Hello parents and friends of Stirling Swimming
As you know ( I hope) the Stirling Swimming Club Championships 2011 are being held on the evening of Friday 9th of December at Stirling University Pool. In order for it to go ahead and be a success, not only does it need our very talented swimmers to compete, it also requires you, the friends and parents of the club, to help out.

There are several areas that we need your help.
a) We need people selling programmes at the doors.
b) We need people to help marshal the swimmers to their races.
c) We need people to time keep and judge.
d) We need people to help the recorder ( anyone interested in learning how to use the electronics for the races? We need a few to learn)
d) We need help to sell raffle tickets and donations to the raffle that will be held on the night too.

Can you help out at all?
If you can then please contact me, Anne Wilson, via email (vicepresident@stirlingswimming.co.uk) or sign up on the list on the notice board at Stirling University foyer at the pool. And please don't forget, swimmers must have entered by 5pm December 3rd. The gala desk will be open for entries on Saturday 26th of November and 3rd December and there is a list on the Stirling University notice board. I look forward to hearing from you and hoping you can give us a hand to make the night a success for everyone.

Christmas themed Raffle prizes collection tub

Club Championships - Please Confirm Your Swims With Gala Convenor

Hello Everyone

I understand that there has been some confusion about the process of entering for the Club Championships that will be held on Friday 9th December at the University pool.

I am therefore writing to you to hopefully clear up any misunderstandings.

If your children/children has/have already confirmed their entry into the Club Championships, please ignore this email.

Can I take this opportunity to relay a message from the club's Head Coach, Kerry Wood,

Taking part in the Club Championships is one of the competitive requirements for ALL swimmers in squads Bronze B squad up to and including all Gold Squads.

The procedure for entering Club Championships

All swimmers will be expected to compete in all 5 events in their relevant age group (age is @ 31st December 2011) UNLESS they have been given permission by their coach not to enter all events.

All swimmers intending to compete at the Club Championships must confirm their swims with the Gala Convenor by entry deadline of 5pm Saturday 3rd December.

Entry can be made in several ways;

a) Via email to the Gala Convenor (gala@stirlingswimming.co.uk)

b) At the remaining gala desk which will be held on Saturday 3rd December at the university pool

c) Via the sign-up shat that is displayed on the university pool notice board.

If a swimmer is not able to attend the Club Championships, please inform the Gala Convenor also.

If a swimmer is concerned about competing in specific events, they should speak to their coach who will inform the Gala Convenor in writing if the swimmer should be entered into some or all the events.

All swimmers are requested to arrive at the pool by 5:30pm, ready to warm up on poolside half an hour before the championships begin. We are incredibly tight for time so please be there on time, we will not be able to accommodate anyone who is late for their race.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via email vicepresident@stirlingswimming.co.uk and I will do all I can to help.

The Gala Convenor is looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible as he has to dash away to the West District Championships on Saturday also, so if you can let him know BEFORE Saturday, that would be of enormous help to him.

STIRLING WINTER OPEN MEET AT THE PEAK ON 21/22 JANUARY 2012

The closing date for entries for the Stirling Winter Open Meet is 09:00am Monday 12 December i.e. immediately after the Club Championships on 9 December, where it is hoped there will be more consideration times achieved.

COMPETITION CALENDAR JANUARY TO APRIL 2012

Dear Swimmers and Parents

Stirling Swimming is a competitive swimming club and expects all swimmers to enter appropriate competitions. Overleaf is a brief explanation of the different swimming galas and events. Below is the list of all events that will be supported by the club and its coaches from January to April 2012.

The information in this competition calendar is provided so that you can forward plan. There is no need to return any forms to indicate availability. Due to changes taking place to West District events, we have been unable to put down dates for the West District Group 1 & 2 Championships. However, as these become available we will let you know through the Stirling Swimming website.

The table below outlines the dates each event will take place, the squad(s) that each event is primarily aimed at (this is for guidance only), the closing date for entries and the dates that the gala entry desk will be open for each respective event. Please note that all gala entries must to be accompanied by payment of the appropriate entry fees.

Club Championships - Thank you

Hello Everybody

I just wanted to say a very big thank you to everyone that stepped forward and volunteered to help out at the Club Championships on the night of Friday 9th December.

Without your help this kind of event could not take place and it is thanks to you that this evening worked so well. It is always a pleasure to organise events when people are so willing to come forward and muck in.

Also many thanks to the swimmers and coaches too, it was a terrific display of the hard work that everybody has put in to their training that resulted in some excellent races and PBs.

I hope everybody enjoyed the evening, friends, family, parents, swimmers and coaches alike. May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and I hope you have lovely time over this coming festive season and look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

Water Polo Scottish Cup - Change of Date

Water Polo - Academy Scottish Cup (1996+)

With the original date clashing with the Stirling Open Meet, I asked for a change of date from Scottish Swimming. I am pleased to say that they have offered Sunday 15 January 2012 at 12.30pm. The venue remains the University of Stirling.

Volunteers for Stirling Open Meet 21/22 January

Dear Parents, friends and older swimmers,

As you are aware the Stirling Junior Open is coming up in two weeks time so this is an appeal for volunteers as we need your help to make this event to run smoothly. I am especially appealing for older swimmers who could take on the roles of marshalling and running. Can you please see your way to volunteer to take up a role over the weekend, even for an hour or two?

If you could volunteer could you put your name down on the list that is on the notice board at the University pool and say whether it is morning or afternoon.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me either by email (programming@stirlingswimming.co.uk) or grab me whilst I am on poolside at the Uni on a Saturday morning or Sunday night.

Thank you in advance to everyone who is helping to make this weekend a success, we can't do this without all your help.

There are two sessions per day, morning session and afternoon session.

Roles I need volunteers for:

Swimming officials, timekeeper/judge

Selling programmes at the door

Helping on tombola, bottle and raffle stall

Trophies

Runners

People to supply drinks to officials on poolside

Marshalls – 2 to 3 per session

Tombola Stall - Volunteers needed to help run the stall

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

I am sending this email to ask for help to run the tombola stall at our upcoming meet on 21^st and 22^nd January. The tombola stall was very successful last year and the parents and children who helped run the stall, had great fun. There are four sessions of swimming over the weekend and to run the stall I need the help of 2 volunteers for each session. That is a total of 8 helpers for the weekend. I am once again looking for small gift items for the tombola stall. The items could be any duplicate Christmas gifts; candles, bath goodies, sweets, biscuits, spare bottles of wine - anything really. Baking for the Stirling Open Meet

Dear all at Stirling Swimming

If you like myself, are addicted to the Great British bake-off, I am appealing for you to practice your skills and see if you could provide some baking for the Stirling Junior Open next week, the 21st and 22nd. These contributions will be for the officials for their breakfast and post lunch snack. I acknowledge that this is a bit of an undertaking, but for us to have the meet accredited we rely very heavily on people from other clubs giving up their time to officiate. Therefore, it is only right that we reward them with our hospitality. Clive Ramsay has been very kind and is allowing us to provide this part of the refreshments for the meet but without your generous contributions we will not be able to do this. We have been praised for our generosity (and skillful baking) over the past few years and I would hope for this trend to continue.

If you can contribute could you please drop off your donations at the Peak on the Saturday morning at 8am, or bring them to training at the Uni where a willing volunteer (Trisha) will transport them to the venue. The closing date for entries to the West District Group 1 Championships is Sunday 22 January. The event takes place on 4/5 February at Cumbernauld. The events are 100m all strokes plus 200 IM.
