Cake Sale and Raffle at the Grand Prix, Saturday 24th March

Dear Swimmers, parents and guardians,

This Saturday, 24^th March, at the Grand Prix, there will be a cake stall hosted by the swimmers going to the Torremolinos Training Camp in October. T-Camp Swimmers and parents will be busy baking later this week to sell a delicious array of home baking to hungry swimmers after the Grand Prix. You will also have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets to win one of 3 gift baskets of chocolate, yum, yum! The cost of a raffle ticket is £1.00 per strip with the winning tickets drawn at the end of the Grand Prix. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Hi Everyone,

The Ceilidh and Presentation evening is fast approaching and we thought we would inform everyone of just some of the fantastic raffle prizes available. We have a couple of Prize raffles, which after a lot of hard work, sweat, tears and begging on my husband and I's part, offers some fantastic prizes...

We plan on having a £10 prize draw from which you have the opportunity of winning a 32' Flat Screen HD SONY Bravia T.V. Valued at £500, also in this draw there is a 6 month GYM membership for Stirling Uni, £100 of Slater Men's Wear Vouchers and a Round of Golf for 4 at Dunblane Golf Course. Not all bad for a £10 raffle.

There will also be a £1 raffle, which also has some fantastic Prizes linked to it, namely, Sunday lunch for 2 at Nick Nairns restaurant at Tree Tops Hilton Dunblane, a signed Becky Addlington sports hat and picture, a pair of James Goddards Athens 2004 Olympic Truncks, two tickets to Neil Diamond tribute act at the Albert halls (Stirling), Hair cut, blow dry with make up session from LUMIA Bridge of Allan and many, many more fabulous prizes. So please, come along, have a drink, a dance, some nice food and a little flutter on the raffle to win some fantastic prizes, and make it a night to remember and mark in your diary for next year.

As a subscriber to the Stirling Swimming News feed, you will currently be receiving news notifications via email. The club is changing the way in which the news items are produced, and as a result this email should be the last news item notification that you receive from this subscription service.

We are implementing a more integrated approach where the news is managed directly from the club’s website at www.stirlingswimming.co.uk . The news items can be viewed on the website, and there is the option to subscribe by email simply by entering your email address and clicking the subscribe button. This will provide you with an equivalent subscription and email notification service.

Spring Cleaning opportunity - Cash For Clothes

Dear All,

A team of Silver and Gold swimmers are off to Torremolinos for a week long warm weather training camp. The team are going to be doing various fund raising activities to raise money towards the cost of the trip. Cash For Clothes is an opportunity for the team to do some spring cleaning and I would like to offer all swimmers, friends and family of the club the opportunity to spring clean and recycle items you no longer want. All you need to do is bring along filled black plastic bags to the Uni on Saturday, 18^th February. All the bags will be taken along to the Cash for Clothes shop in Cowan Street, Stirling. The bags will be weighed and 50p per kilo will be paid. All the money raised will go towards the training camp. If you wish to take up the opportunity to clear out your wardrobes, the team will help by taking the filled bags off your hands. Below is a list of items accepted for recycling – please can clothing be dry and clean. Accessories (ex. sunglasses, hair band, umbrellas, baseball hats)

Ceilidh and Presentation evening

Hi everyone,

The Ceilidh and Presentation evening on Saturday 25th February at Stirling Rugby Club from 19:00- Midnight, is nearly here. Its a great night to mix and socialise with everyone and to get to know each other in a more relaxed environment. The kids from all squads have a really great night, as do the more senior club members and coaches, receiving presentations for their efforts at the club championships and enjoying a gid auld Ceilidh, with traditional Scottish dancing a touch of modern too, provided by Raise The Roof Ceilidh Band ,Something I hope to suit everyones taste. A lovely Buffet will be provided, and there will be prize draws and Raffles, with some great prizes. So whether you and your family are long standing members of the club or you have just recently joined us? Please! come and join us, for what is always a great evening.

Tickets are going fast. So to avoid disappointment you can purchase your tickets from myself (Julie McGregor) by contact at the Uni on Saturday mornings or again at the Uni on Sunday Afternoons from (17:30-19:00.) Alternatively, you can purchase Tickets from me at Stirling High on Tuesday evenings between 19:00-20:00 and again at Stirling High on Thursday evenings between (18:00-19:30) I am aware this will not suit everyone, so I have distributed request slips to all Squads, to be completed and returned to squad reps. They in turn can return them to me and I can then come down to that particular squads session and hopefully distribute the Tickets and collect some funds. I will also make a point of being at different squad sessions on the chance of selling some Tickets. So don't worry, everyone will have the opportunity to purchase Ceilidh Tickets. Oh Yeah, how will you know who I am to purchase Tickets? Don't worry, if you haven't already purchased, I'll be the one pestering you. So bring cash or cheques, just don't miss out, its a great night.

MINDSET WORKSHOP

At the West District Championships on Sunday 5^th February

LINK COMMUNITY FACILITY

From 12:00 – 13:00 hrs.

The workshop will be run by Tony Stanger, Scotland Rugby Internationalist and Ally Whike, Performance Director SASA.

The Link Community Facility (directly opposite the entrance to the Tryst Pool). The Workshop will be appropriate to parents and coaches of swimmers interested in selection for the 2012 District Regional Squad Programme and National Squads.

Please note that the morning session time has been altered to:

Warm up 08:00 till 09:00

Start Time 09:00 till 12:00

Consideration Times for West District Group 1 Championships

The closing date for entries to the West District Group 1 Championships is Sunday 22 January. The event takes place on 4/5 February at Cumbernauld. The events are 100m all strokes plus 200 IM. Baking for the Stirling Open Meet

Dear all at Stirling Swimming

If you like myself, are addicted to the Great British bake-off, I am appealing for you to practice your skills and see if you could provide some baking for the Stirling Junior Open next week, the 21st and 22nd. These contributions will be for the officials for their breakfast and post lunch snack. I acknowledge that this is a bit of an undertaking, but for us to have the meet accredited we rely very heavily on people from other clubs giving up their time to officiate. Therefore, it is only right that we reward them with our hospitality. Clive Ramsay has been very kind and is allowing us to provide this part of the refreshments for the meet but without your generous contributions we will not be able to do this. We have been praised for our generosity (and skillful baking) over the past few years and I would hope for this trend to continue.

If you can contribute could you please drop off your donations at the Peak on the Saturday morning at 8am, or bring them to training at the Uni where a willing volunteer (Trisha) will transport them to the venue. Dear All, Just a quick reminder that a big box or bag will be placed at the Uni pool reception tomorrow morning for tombola items for our Stirling 2012 Junior Open Meet taking place next weekend, 21^st and 22^nd January at the Peak. I am once again looking for small gift items for the tombola stall. The items could be any duplicate Christmas gifts; candles, bath goodies, sweets, biscuits, spare bottles of wine - anything really. Tombola Stall - Volunteers needed to help run the stall

I am sending this email to ask for help to run the tombola stall at our upcoming meet on 21^st and 22^nd January. The tombola stall was very successful last year and the parents and children who helped run the stall, had great fun. There are four sessions of swimming over the weekend and to run the stall I need the help of 2 volunteers for each session. That is a total of 8 helpers for the weekend. Volunteers for Stirling Open Meet 21/22 January

Dear Parents, friends and older swimmers,

As you are aware the Stirling Junior Open is coming up in two weeks time so this is an appeal for volunteers as we need your help to make this event to run smoothly. I am especially appealing for older swimmers who could take on the roles of marshalling and running. Can you please see your way to volunteer to take up a role over the weekend, even for an hour or two?

If you could volunteer could you put your name down on the list that is on the notice board at the University pool and say whether it is morning or afternoon.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me either by email (programming@stirlingswimming.co.uk) or grab me whilst I am on poolside at the Uni on a Saturday morning or Sunday night.

Thank you in advance to everyone who is helping to make this weekend a success, we can't do this without all your help.

There are two sessions per day, morning session and afternoon session.

Selling programmes at the door

There are two events coming up over the next month that are not on the current competition calendar:

· North Ayrshire 200s meet (200 fly, back, breast, free for 10&under, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15/16 and 17&over years + 400 free, IM + 800 free + 1500 free for open) on 11/12 February at Auchenharvie (£5.00 per entry)

· West District Group 1 Championships (100 fly, back, breast, free + 200 IM for 10-12, 13, 14, 15 and 16&over years) on 4/5 February at Cumbernauld

If you are looking to achieve consideration times for SNAGs for 200m and over, you may wish to consider entering the North Ayrshire meet, for which there will be a gala desk on Saturday 14 & 21 January. The closing date for entries is 25 January.

If you are looking to achieve Scottish National Age Group (SNAGs) times for 100m and 200IM, you may wish to consider entering the West District Group 1 Championships, for which there will be a gala desk on Saturday 14 & 21 January. The closing date for entries is 22 January.
