The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is a 48-hour hackathon-style event that occurs simultaneously at hundreds of locations around the world. Game developers from all ages, experience, and skillsets gather, form teams, receive a theme, and then create games together within 48 hours. There are no winners– instead there is unbridled creativity and collaboration.

This year, we are returning to UMSL for the event!

The event this year will feature:

• Comfortable classrooms to work from with power and wi-fi!
• Free food, drinks, and snacks!
• Around-the-clock access – jam for the whole 48-hours straight, uninterupted if you want!
• Nearby Free Parking available each day on campus!

  • 6:00 pm – Welcoming Ceremony, Keynote Address, and Theme Reveal – Room 004
  • 6:30 pm – Rooms 002, 003, 004, and 005 are available for Jamming!
• Saturday, Jan 25th
  • All Day – Jam!
  • 3:00 pm – Game Page Creation Due
• Sunday, Jan 26th
  • All Day – Jam!
  • 3:00 pm – Game Submissions Close!
  • 5:00 pm – Game Sharing and Closing Ceremony – Room 004

Parking

GGJ will take place at the location marked #14 on the map. Guest Garage Parking will be available at Laclede Garage (shown in purple on the map) and will be paid for by STLGameDev.

With Riot Games as our headline sponsor and in partnership with the Chaifetz Center for Entrepreneurship, STLGameDev will be holding Global Game Jam at Saint Louis University! We are excited to make the event more accessible than ever through expanded resources and mentorship, while also setting up the new space based on the feedback of our jam veterans.

Again you MUST have both of these done in order to demo your game at 5, and if you have any problems please let the person at the registration desk know.

This year, the jam will be taking place on January 25-27 2019 located at the University of Missouri – St Louis.

The Global Game Jam is a 48-hour event where developers around the world make games based on a theme announced at about 7:00 PM local time. It brings together everyone through a shared moment to make thousands of new games. This event is open to all skill levels and beginners are especially invited to come with us and make their first game. We believe everyone can make games even if you have never made one before. It is a fun, rewarding process, plus you will meet some amazing people along the way.
